"We have to shut down the press to preserve my First Amendment rights."

That's the mind-boggling logical conclusion of Palin's recent statement here.

How can she not see that? How can people not see that she doesn't even understand AMENDMENT NUMBER ONE in our Constitution?!

I have a dark laugh whenever I see someone think of the First Amendment as "you have to shut up so I can exercise my right to free speech." But to see a Vice Presidential candidate have that level of misunderstanding is deplorable.

Palin: The media is taking away my 1st amendment rights by labeling my accusations of someone "pallin' around with terrorists" as negative campaigning.

A Rational Human Being: Ms. Palin, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

By the way, thanks for posting this. I thought the VP running the senate and the clothes things were way overblown. I don't understand why people seemed to be shouting about those, but there hasn't been much mention of this issue which is much bigger. She has no respect for anyone and thinks of criticism as a constitutional violation. She thinks that a free press is harming her 1st amendment rights. This is way bigger than clothes, folks.

She also has a nasty habit of eliminating anyone who disagrees with her or happens to be smarter than she is (and they are legion). And is also a compulsive liar.

If she was smarter, she'd be seriously dangerous.

I thought the clothes were a big deal only i the sense that it's the sort of thing that was made to be a big deal, as attacks against Democrats. I don't give a damn whether politicians wear flag lapel pins or not, but if Democrats are going to be hassled about it, then how come Republicans don't wear them all the time either? Even Palin, I didn't see pictures of her wearing a flag pin before he was the running mate. (Except now of course she wears a huge rhinestone thing the size of a dinner plate.)

It seems like Ms Sarah has the same level of understanding about the First Amendment as she does about the job of the Vice President of the United States of America.

I guess she's hoping that she can get her high school basketball coach appoint Attorney General -- then she can punish that pesky press!

To add a bit of additional context, Gov. Palin is a journalism major. -$Priceless-$
