Obama's proposals are constantly shifting to suit the political winds. He sends up a trial balloon and then denies what was said. They've just taken the the public plan off the OFA, for instance, but someone says it's not off the table. There's no way to know how much he is willing to compromise to get his name associated with reform.

Here's a link about one of his proposals for medicare. I repeat what I said before, if you start cutting payments to doctors and hospitals, the end result will be rationed care. That's not comforting.

The OFA site clearly lays out his goals and I don't see anything there that contradicts what I believe. If you're talking about the Medicare portion of my post, then you can google and get all kinds of hits. He's been talking about reining in Medicare since before he took office.

Anyone who thinks there will be a public plan anything like what progressives are counting on is fooling him/herself. Anything less than a robust public plan is feeding the insurance companies. My assertions above are logical conclusions, IMO, of what the result of mandates to purchase insurance from private insurance companies will lead to in the not so long run.

Any reduction in reimbursements to hospitals and doctors will reduce our choices I feel sure. Some doctors already refuse to treat Medicare patients as you probably know. Reduce payments and there ranks will grow. Hospitals are already short staffed so I don't believe cutting reimbursements to them is going to improve care for us oldsters.

P.S. perhaps I should have said proposed reductions instead of instituted reductions. I thought Obama had already reduced reimbursements, but perhaps not. Frankly, the whole movement is in such a mess I doubt anyone knows what's going on.
