A Dem to run against Grassley
Iowa Democrat Tom Fiegen will run against Grassley next year. He sounds like a true Dem, too. More about him here. Personally, I plan to support him with my $ from afar.

Thanks for the info. Glad you used the phrase "true dem". The truth is, we don't just need true dems to run against Republicans. We need true dems to run against dems. In fact, I think the latter is even more important. A little OT here, but with regard to the health care debate, I think we got thrown off track by focusing on the absurdity of the Republicans, with their death panel talk.
There is no real debate about health reform in this country. There is no honest discourse. So wouldn't we be better off just ignoring the Republicans since they're going to vote no on anything?
And instead, focus on "so called dems" like Conrad and Baucus?
These are the guys that are blocking health care reform.
The Republicans, with their rhetoric, have just made themselves entirely irrelevant.
This fight is really with dems.

I think we'll lose some dems who come from conservative districts in both houses, especially if they vote for reform. I say we go after any seat we have a chance of getting.

I do know that the senate isn't divided into districts, for the record - the sentence was worded poorly.

If he runs, I'll toss a few bucks in the kitty as well. I'm the bro of an Iowan, which makes me nearly an Iowan, and Crabgrassley shames his constituents, and his constituents by relation alike.
p.s. Is everyone else's TPM formatting screwed up, or just mine? I thought the reader posts were missing entirely. Then I found them wayyyy down at the bottom of the left hand column, with no white background behind. I'm using firefox 3.5. If this doesn't get a lot of attention that may be the reason.

My TPM Cafe main page this a.m. only shows the far right columns with the posts of just the TPM contributors, none of the right side with readers posts list or even ads. Have to go via dashboard to get to reader's posts.
And I use IE.

yeah the TPM format is not the same this morning. There is no right column, only a long left column, posts stacked upon posts, and on the very bottom, the list of tpm reader posts.

I noticed this formatting problem happened last night after "Modelling Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - part IV” was posted. And when it was still screwed up today I sent an email to TPM asking about it. Haven't heard anything back so far. Wondered if anyone else had the same problem, but until just now I didn't see a mention of it. It’s happening in both Safari and Firefox on my Mac.
