A Couple of Things to Mark the New Year
In the first thing, the stage directions are from the actors' perspectives, looking out at the audience (I'm an impatient writer; it needs polishing; just think of it as reflecting my personality, a diamond in the rough which abhors polishing wheels ;-) In the second thing, enjoy Leon, Merv, and Johnny. Happy New Year. I hope 2008 finds us all in a better place.
New Year
The Babe awaits offstage.
Its coos and cries grow louder.
On stage, the spot follows the Old Man
as He moves stage right
and delivers his parting lines.
A second spot shines stage left,
and the first small hand is seen,
as the Babe emerges from the wings.
Before His final exit,
the Old Man looks back and sees
promise, hopes, and dreams;
some were realized, and some were not, and some yet may be.
The spot stage right fades to black,
and only the Babe remains.

I hope all your dreams, desires and ambitions for 2008 are successful and happy.
Happy New Year, Glenn. We all take a sip of your "kindness" every time you grant us the joy or reading your words.

Peace and renewal for all of us in the New Year... particularly for our nation. I myself am near tears in the sadness of all that has gone on and also in the great hope that recent events suggest a turning of the tide, a great tipping point, perhaps the breaking of a wave. And may that bring us to safe harbor.
Thanks, Festus buddy and dear Glenn... for being here.

I saw tall ships, with sails unfurled.
Sailing gainst wind and storm,
They crossed the Sea of Hope.
Their course was sure and never wavered.
At journeys end,
They lingered at the harbors mouth
And awaited the flowing tide.
When the tide had turned and all was right,
They entered in.
They sailed past the rocky jetty
Where crashing waves turned to foam
And at last found calm waters
And knew they were home.
Here are two of my favorite sailing songs.
