An Alternate Reality

Consider, if you would, how a different sequence of events could have unfolded this year:

Hillary beats Obama for the nomination. The Republican base is fired up and unified at the prospect of running against her.

Freed from the necessity of shoring up the base, McCain picks Mitt Romney instead of Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Then the financial crisis hits. McCain/Romney successfully leverage the ticket's perceived financial expertise into a narrow win over Clinton.

Who knows how these things would have worked out? But it's an intriguing scenario.

Post-Election Sarah Palin Office Pool

The objective is to select the exact week when she first publicly blames John McCain for losing the election...

Will They Support Her In 2012

Considering all of the blathering by Republican surrogates and talking heads about how Sarah Palin is really qualified to be president, I'm wondering if all of these folks will be willing to support her for that office in 2012. Is she really the person they'd select if left to their own devices?

NY Times Nails It

Today's New York Times editorial on McCain's selection of Sarah Palin is devastatingly on target. As someone once said in a different context, "Where is the outrage?" If progressives cannot make the case against this travesty, then shame on us.
