Joe Lieberman Hateboard
I don't know about you, but as an angry progressive blogger, I'm feeling just a little but frustrated since the election. I've got no one to hate. John McCain gave a little speech and disappeared. G.W. has been reduced to giving tours of the Oval Office. It was fun to laugh at Sarah Palin when the McCain people dished on her, but without her V.P. pulpit, she just seems like a clown, and yelling at clowns is boring. Thank goodness we still have Joe Lieberman to crap on. That's why I created this hateboard so that we can all crap on Joe Lieberman. So crap away. I recommend that following syntax: Joe is a #$!*@ because ...
I'll get us started:
Wow, that felt great. I haven't felt this good since I wrote about how much I hated Hillary Clinton.
Crap away people, crap like you've never crapped before. You may not have another chance for a while.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This piece was NOT cross-posted at dagblog.com, because those people are a bunch of Lieb-loving losers.
I'll get us started:
- Joe is a #$!*@ because he supported McCain, and everyone who supported McCain is a #$!*@.
- Joe is a #$!*@ because Obama endorsed him in the last election, and then Joe stabbed him in the back. Or maybe the front. Whatever, Joe stabbed him. And even though Obama doesn't seem mad, since Obama doesn't get mad, I'm going to get mad for Obama's sake because it's not right.
- Joe is a #$!*@ because he supports the Iraq war and other Republican stuff. His voting record his almost as Republican as Evan Bayh's. But we like Bayh because he supported Obama. We like anyone who supported Obama even if they directly facilitated the war, like Colin Powell.
- Joe is a #$!*@ because he's a lying, opportunistic politician. Can you believe it? A lying, opportunistic politician. Appalling!
- Joe is a #$!*@ because he played for the other team. People on our team should never, ever, play for the other team. It's a betrayal, that's what it is. We like it when people from their team play for our team because that shows integrity, like when Chuck Hagel praised Obama, but it's different the other way.
- And finally, Joe is #$!*@ because he's a weenie and deserves to be stripped of his committee chairmanship and given a big old wedgie in the Senate locker room.
Wow, that felt great. I haven't felt this good since I wrote about how much I hated Hillary Clinton.
Crap away people, crap like you've never crapped before. You may not have another chance for a while.

It shocks me that you would hate Joe for such trivial reasons.
Almost as pathetic as your Ricky Riccardo shirt.

Obama does not hold grudges on Lieberman. Why should we? Let's be less radical.

You like Evan Bayh? I'm going to need to seriously reevaluate my opinion of you. Evan Bayh is a #@($)#&@!*

When I saw Bayh on Rachel Maddow this week, I kept thinking he looks like a Nazi. Not that he is a Nazi or acts like one. The way he parts his hair, his facial characteristics, his expressions - if I were a casting director doing a WWII movie, I'd hire him to play a German officer.

Liebeman isn't a Democrat. Why treat him like one?

It's so much fun to watch him swinging from that branch, I hate to let him down too soon. The way his feet are wiggling, and that cute little hand waving in a circle; is that the universal "I'm choking" gesture?

I don't hate anybody. However when someone demonstrates actions that are not healthy for me I definitely get pissed off. I am going to have boundaries. For anger is all about boundaries.
Joe was willing to trash his colleague, one who helped him win his last election, to gain more power. He questioned whether his colleague was a Marxist. He did not speak out when EVERY leader should have as hate was being cultivated at McCain/Palin rallies. He sold his soul for a chance to be part of a McCain adminstration.
Joe was not willing to have hearings and look into issues regarding the legality of many actions of the current adminstration even though this fell under his senate committees jurisdiction thus making him complict with illegal behaviors of this adminstration.
Joe tried to use childish manipulation to maintain his chairmanship i.e. his 'if you take away my chairmanship, I'll go caucus with the republicans'. He did so expressing no regard for what is in the best interest of his constituents or aligning with his own values.
I believe we have to have healthy boundaries with Joe. He should not be committee chair and most especially not chair of Homeland Security.
He needs to rebuild trust, respect, and improve his skills before he is given a committe chair position again.
To say 'just apologize and we'll forget the whole things' is like picking up the stick a man just hit you with and offering it to him so he can hit you again later.

I lay the last 8 years on Joe. If he had played the proper role of a VP nominee, that is the pitbull during the recount, we would be talking about 16 years of peace and prosperity. If he had called Cheney during the debate, for what he was, someone who made millions at the public trough, things might have been different. There might not have been a 9/11 because a President Gore would have actually read the PDB on 08/06/01. There would have not been record setting deficits and trade imbalances.
Everything can be laid on his doorstep. Yes, I hate Joe Liebermann.

Excellent point. Let's add Gore and his snooty debating style to the hate list too. If it weren't for him, he'd have been President instead of Bush.

Goes without sayin'! You left out that candidate Gore was an imperialist American exceptionalist AIPAC lackey and interventionist hawk on other foreign issues, not to mention a self-identified "born again" Christian who has stated belief in "freedom of religion, not freedom from religion" whose wife is always trying to censor things. :-)

Oh sure, now you show up. Where were you in fall 2006? There were nearly as many hate Lieberman threads here back then as at Firedoglake, the site really could really have used a hate Lieberman aggregation thread back then.
(Heh, I remember member Libertine, who lives in CT, and whose opining is usually far to the left of a Lieberman, trying to simply report on how he was seeing some of his fellow CT citizens reacting negatively to all the "outside agitators" involved in their Senate race. And he was labeled a vile Lieberman sympathizer for those efforts by several.)

It's just my opinion, but I think that you have to have some measure of respect for someone in order to really hate them.
So I can't quite bring myself to say that "I hate Lieberman".

Zell Lieberman, not Joe.
Despite Sen. Lieberman's antics during his campaign to join the Republican party, many Democrats in the Senate are supporting Sen. Lieberman's bid to retain his position as chair of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Keeping Sen. Lieberman as Chair of that committee will indicate a woeful lack of determination to correct the excesses of the Bush administration in curtailing civil liberties. A progressive agenda demands a Chair willing to conduct tough investigations and hearings on the Bush administration's conduct. Lieberman clearly is not the right person for that job.
However, Lieberman is just the right person for business as usual in Washington.

You people are missing the real reason he's so objectionable. It's not because he actively campaigned for the other side and called Obama all kinds of names. It's that he's so damned self-righteous, pious, and unctuous. How on earth could the voters of Connecticut abide all that phony posturing and ersatz gravitas. If he would only spare us the sanctimony. YUCH!
