MN RECOUNT: FRANKEN by 225!! Looks Like We Have a New Democratic Senator!!

The Minnesota Elections Canvassing Board has finished counting all remaining ballots in the Senate race - and Al Franken has ADDED To his former 50-vote lead - reaching a margin that is more than any remaining COleman dispute can hope to erase.

It would appear that - once the pointless challenges by Coleman are resolved - Al Franken will be the 59th Senator!!!

I like good news. I hope they got this right.

Thank you for the news.

Franken and Bachman, both from Minnesota. How incredible!

One's a comedian about to become a Legislator, while the other was elected as a Legislator but proved to be a clown.

Somewhere, Paul Wellstone must surely be smiling.

That's nothin Sleepin, Franken grew up at the same time and in the same neighborhood as Tom Friedman, one of Minnesota's best known idiots.

I do not think we should celebrate too soon. Franken won, yes, but the GOP are going to fight tooth and nails to stop this.

COleman has not won a single legal challenge yet before the Supreme Court in MN.

What makes you think he will any now?

And since not enough votes are uncounted now to make up the lead - even if they went 100% for Coleman, what's the point? (Franken had a 20-point lead among ABSENTEE ballots - and only 133 are claimed to have been counted twice - so there is no way to 'make up' the deficit.)

yeah GayGreek, you are right on this tho you have a typo. 225 I think it is and 133 and 66 or something left in the bunch, Fanken wins.

Our Supreme Court sounds more like Florida and the Feds. Eventually Franken wins. And the Gov cannot step in and screw it up.

From -215 to +225. Curiously symmetrical swing.

And just how did so many more Franken ballots get "erroneously rejected" anyway? If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd suspect some clerks were deliberately "rejecting" ballots back in November.

Nope. Minnesota has one of the cleanest slates with regard to voting in the entire country. Computer driven with a paper trail. Good solid citizens put in a lot of time on this before, during and after the election. And lawyers from both sides were looking over every counter's shoulder.

The weird part of all this is that we have three million votes, three candidates and such a slim difference between the top two.

This is not Chicago and it is not some borough in NYC.

"Computer driven with a paper trail."

Not relevant to clerical errors such as setting aside ballots erroneously.

I'm not saying there are no plausible explanations. Maybe Franken voters are significantly more careless than Coleman voters, and failed to dot the i's and cross the t's which were not required by state law to be dotted or crossed, yet some clerks rejected those ballots. And don't get me wrong, I'm pleased that Franken has a good lead.

As an aside, I'm also curious about the many other absentee ballots which were rejected on formal grounds, something like 10K. It would make an interesting study to review them to see how many legit absentee voters disenfranchised themselves.
