Getting ready to pull the plug on TPM
On the off-chance that this post appears somewhere at TPM:
Why do some of my posts appear nowhere?
Where are they supposed to be. I mark them for TPM Cafe and/or Election Central but they don't show up.
But sometimes they do, like this one has--maybe, if your reading it.
Are there others with this problem? If so, why not publicly state "Blogging Doesn't Work Yet." It would save us a lot of time hunting, scrolling and cursing while trying to identify the black hole that is sucking posts away,
When I go to my blog, it says that I haven't created a blog yet. Nonsense. I have. But the blogging software doesn't seem to know this, event though it allows me to write posts that appear nowhere.
I understand that posts will slide off the "Recent" list on the front page of TPMCafe. But where do they slide to? They appear nowhere, not in the list, not in the archives.
Nowhere. Nowhere. Nowhere.
Nowhere to the twentieth power.
Someone told me I can get to my blog by changing "%20" to "_" in my address and saving it. Is this the secret handshake that nobody told me about? Sheesh.
Sorry folks, but I try about once a month to post here, but it never gets better. Here I am trying to publicize my incisive, timely, trenchant thoughts and what happens?

All I want is clear, accurate instructions on how to operate this battleship.

Sympathies buddy. If you don't see it show up on the list, try going down to the bottom of "recent reader blogs" and clicking on that. It should show up that way.
Or send a query to Al. Since you can now edit and delete things, try posting a few test blogs. And see if it improves over time. Or once you can see your own blog, post a link at the thread for recent blogs that's in the rec list.

Frank, it seems like you always come back when TPM is at the height of software issues!
They just made a huge change in software and are still working (hopefully, I would assume) on fixing some of the bugs. As far as having your blogs come up, I believe someone mentioned that you have to check off Election Central, checking Cafe hasn't been working.
I don't know why you're getting the haven't started blog thing yet, but I have seen different issues from users whose names have spaces in them. Sometimes they work, sometimes I get a movable type error when I click on those folks.
As far as the archives, they're apparently working on this - but it's not an issue that only you are having. I've been missing quite a few posts these days b/c of these things.
So, my best advice? Hang in there? ;)

Those of us with normal names, i.e. first, space, last, get that lack of user blog page. You can get there other ways.

I haven't been able to get to the "create blog" page. As you see, no spaces in my screen name. I haven't been able to post at all, just comment on others' posts.
I'm patient but sad.

I just joined a couple of weeks ago and, although I have tried repeatedly, I have never gotten a screen that would allow me to even enter a blog post. The buttons just aren't there. I sent an email yesterday and haven't heard back. So you have my sympathy.

Frank - your blog is here, your posts are showing up. The problem lies in the YOUR BLOG link in the top nav bar. We still have a bug where the link breaks if your username has spaces in it. We're aware of the issue and are working to squash it. In the meantime, you'll always be able to get to your blog from this url: http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/blogs/frank_mullen_iii

Any blog sites that people really like in terms of user interface?
Is there a clear winner?
I'm asking because I'd like to make suggestions on how to improve the experience here.
