Looks Like McCain Vetted Joe the Plumber as Closely as Sarah Palin
So a funny thing happened on the way to the forum:
http://www.toledoblade.com
Turns out that Joe the Plumber is actually not a plumber (licensed one anway), has a lien against him for failing to pay his taxes (maybe explains his opposition to taxes), is not an undecided independent (registered as a republican), hates social security (http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/237630.php) and may even have an indirect relationship to Charles Keating and Savings & Loan Scandal (I am not asserting this last one as fact - but here is the link: http://www.eisenstadtgroup.com/2008/10/15/joe-the-plumber-wurzelbacher-related-to-charles-keating-oops/)
**UPDATE (6:09) - Keating assertions proven to be false (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/16/133831/42/1001/632600)
Best of all is admittedly better off under Obama's tax plan than McCain's.
Looks like another wonderful job of vetting someone by McCain and his staff. You think he'd learn his lesson from Palin and dig a bit into backgrounds before he introduced another unknown figure on a grand stage.

Great finds. The media will be all over this guy, like stink on a skunk.

First McCain ruins Sara Palin's career by failing to vet her and then exposing her to the world. Now he makes a mess of Joe's life by doing the same thing to him. This is rich. McCain is exposing all of the worst things about the republican party. The democrats could never have done it this well.

"First McCain ruins Sara Palin's career"
I sure hope so, but it does seem obvious that the Repubs are going to put everything they have to get her ready to run for President in 2012.
What's the difference between W and Palin? I would say lipstick, but I have it on good authority that W secretly likes to cross-dress. LOL

Joe the Plumber and many "the" guys like him are in denial. They are not wealthy Republicans and Republican admins will NEVER allow them to be.

The guy asked a question of Obama and was used as a political tool. It's not his fault. Leave the poor slob alone.

Not exactly...
If you listen to his interview with Couric, it's pretty clear that he's just repeating Republican talking points. He obviously ignored, and certainly didn't bring up to Couric, any of the things Obama told him or why he apparently didn't believe what Obama told him.
He's happy to get his dishonest digs in on prime time...so he should expect a few in return.
As always, the Republicans have nothing except..."we don't know him"..."we can't trust him." Don't know him? After 22 months of campaigning, interviews and over 20 debates, not to mention two or three books and untold speeches? And McCain who's flipped on virtually every major position he's held except the surge.
Please. Don't know if this guy's actually a plant. But he is certainly a WILLING tool.

Obama walked up TO him, in the guy's neighborhood, before he asked the question! He didn't go to Obama.
McCain brought his name up in the debate! He didn't ask to be included in the debate.
The press camped out on the guy's lawn! He didn't invite the press.
So, "please", spare me the self-righteous B.S. The way this guy is being dragged through the muck by both sides, including this site and other blogs, is a damned disgrace.

Well, he's about as quailfied to be VP as Palin is.
RobbyLove, Obama walked up to the guy because Joe was standing in the receiving line. Joe himself says he went over because he wanted to ask Obama a question. He's not exactly an innocent bystander.
