CNN Ties Sarah and Todd Palin to Anti-American Alaskan Independence Party
The mainstream media has finally noticed Sarah and Todd Palins' ties to the rabidly anti-American secessionist group, the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP). A new CNN video report by anchor Rick Sanchez digs into the Palins' relationship with the AIP, noting that Todd Palin has been a member of the group and that Sarah Palin sent official video greetings as Governor of Alaska to the 2008 AIP convention. In this video, as pictured here, Palin praises the "important role" played by the AIP in Alaska politics.
The AIP has been described as an extreme-right, anti-government organization comparable to militia movements such as that which carried out the 1995 Oklahoma City attack. The group's aims are voiced no more forcefully than by its founder, Joe Vogler, as CNN observes in direct quotations: "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government...," Vogler states in one quotation, "...And I won't be buried under their damn flag." In another quotation, Vogler says: "My government is my worst enemy. I'm going to fight them with any means at hand." As though to leave no doubt in our minds regarding his willingness to use violence to achieve his secessionist aims, Vogler says in one final quote: "I hope we don't have to take human life, but if they go on trampling our property rights, look out, we're ready to die."
Vogler was murdered during an illegal plastic explosives deal in 1993, just weeks before he was scheduled to give a speech to the United Nations on Alaskan independence sponsored by the government of Iran. Pending Alaskan independence, Vogler was buried in Canada according to his wish not to buried under the American flag.

Finally!! So now we see who is really anti-American. Gov. Palin, do America a favor and go back to Alaska where you belong. Your services are no longer needed.

I have no idea what Volger's legal theory was on talking to the UN about Alaska secession -- as if the UN would have something to say in his behalf on the point? -- but his extreme right lunatic fringe views are of a piece with the anti-UN/"one world egghead" view of the John Birch Society, and other such extreme nationalists such as Neo-Nazis.
I think it obvious, though, he didn't know how to spell the word "incoherent".

Check this:
"Vogler's greatest moment of glory was to be his 1993 appearance before
the United Nations to denounce United States "tyranny" before the
entire world and to demand Alaska's freedom. The Alaska secessionist
had persuaded the government of Iran to sponsor his anti-American
harangue.
That's right ... Iran. The Islamic dictatorship. The taker of American
hostages. The rogue nation that McCain and Palin have excoriated Obama
for suggesting we diplomatically engage. That Iran."
Could you imagine if Michelle Obama was once a member of the AIP? The double standard in this not making much news is outrageous.

I haven't any problem with Iran -- I know the history which reuslted in the "revolution" blowback against the Shah. I realize, of course, I'm (unofficially) "required" to have a problem with anything and everything the far-right says I must.
That aside, for those interested, this is the Oath of Office as stipulated in the Alaska state constitution:
Art. 12. s. 5. Oath of Office
All public officers, before entering upon the duties of their offices, shall take and subscribe to the following oath or affirmation:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Alaska, and that I will faithfully discharge my duties as . . . to the best of my ability."
The legislature may prescribe further oaths or affirmations.
_____
And the US Constitution includes constraints and limitations on the states, in Article I, Section 10, and all of Article IV.
And, the US SC has held that secession is unconstitutional.

Yeah, I wonder if Obama put this Palin/AIP stuff in an ad if the traditional media would report that? Or ignore his claim? Take her side?
So Palin was against America before she was for it?

Did that air again? It aired once earlier this week and then CNN pulled it an scrubbed it from their website http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/14/151519/61/145/630389

Here is the clip of Palin addressing the AIP in 2008!
This is essentially unspinable -- unless you want to downplay what the AIP is. I wonder what FNC will do with it? My guess it is so damning that they will simply ignore it, or bury it.

I hope CNN puts this on their spin cycle, but we can't trust anyone in MSM (with a few exceptions of course for Olbermann, Maddow, Stewart, Maher). Maybe the Times or Wash Post, but let's face it - they don't exactly have heavy readership in Akron OH or Kansas City MO.
It is horrifying to think what would happen if McCain were elected. So many people I call when I phone bank for Obama (to undecided voters in OH and to attorneys for voter protection help) truly believe it would be "armageddon" if McCain were elected. And lately I've also heard their fury over the bailout, Palin, robocalls, and the sleaze of his campaign.

CNN, please, please please put it in the spin cycle. (Disclaimer: I don't subscribe to cable, but the notion of something with credence playing over and over is very appealing.)

Maybe Bachmann will investigate the Palins. I doubt either would survive a "deep penetrating expose."

Now we must show that McCain himself is involved with a terrorist group. He has praised Todd several times in public forums. This undoes his Ayers connection.

The MSM has really gone light on McCain and Palin, whether it be scant coverage on:
McCain selecting a former lobbyist for Saddam Hussein to head his transition team
McCain and Palin's connections to extremist religious leaders
McCain's friendship with G. Gordon Liddy
McCain's advisors who were lobbyists for Airbus,
Palin's Troopergate scandal
Palin and her staff using personal e-mails to skirt public disclosure laws
McCain's seventy-six flip-flops
McCain's affairs during his first marriage (compare to coverage of John Edwards
I think it's great that so many in the MSM are calling McCain and Palin on all of their lies, hate-mongering and Palin's lack of qualifications to serve as VP. They deserve credit for finding some backbone.
However, there are many reporters who are not doing their jobs. If they were being fair, there would be a lot more negative press on McCain-Palin.

That may indeed be the case, but I would wonder how many reporters are being told "Don't go there" by people above them.

It is usually the ones who yell the loudest who are guilty. The republican Senator Foley who fought to protect kid from internet porn and preditors, until he was caught sending sexual explicit text messages to a page, a child, a minor. He complain the loudest and he was guilty.
McCain complains the loudest about taxes, because he's lying to the American people, he will raise taxes. He never explains his tax package, he never talks straight.
McCain on palling around with terrorist, McCain is best buds with G. Gordon Liddy. A domestic terrorist.
Palin yelling loudly about being a christian yet,
her unmarried teenage daughter is having more unprotected sex than a call girl.
Palin was at a luncheon in April 2008, with the anti-American group who hates our country.

Do be clear about the 'association' when you discuss it. The Palin's have been associated with the party for some time, but Vogler disappeared in '93. He was not a very sociable person and limited his contacts to people he knew and trusted (apparently not enough). At that point in time the Palin's were in their late 20's with babies and toddlers to raise. I sincerely doubt they were palls with Joe.
This does not diminish the fact that the Palin's were sympathetic to the party, associated with many members who are just as committed to the platform as Joe was, and that Todd was actually a member.

hanging with vogler is not the central issue...being a part of his club/his ideology is the point......so if guilt by association is being played, let's put mccain/palin on the block for inspection...they would fail instantly! the hypocrisy is astounding...attributing third party actions to obama is proving futile time and time again; on the other hand, obama camp could easily do the same to mccain/palin who have even more gruesome associations...obama was 8 yrs old when ayers was doing his do....the todd palin was an adult when he joined the group and sarah palin approved of the group not at the tender age of 8, but as an adult and a politician.....
so who is guilty again???
