Roll Call reporting 50 former pols to launch 'Dems for Joe'.

Got this from rawstory, but quotes Roll Call:

Former pols stump for Joe. However much genuine feeling is there, what is this an outlet for? Are they speaking to CT voters, current pols, and/or current and prospective lobbying clients? After all, the group:

"...is not taking any issue positions, and its support does not translate into an endorsement of Lieberman’s stance on the Iraq War or any other specific issue, organizers and the Lieberman camp stressed."

So we have a sentiment, not a movement. Vote for Joe because we vouch for him in a very non-specific way.

"It just seemed ‘Hey what’s going on here?’” he asked. “This guy is a Democrat and people should know that. We just started talking to each other and it grew.”

What is going on here? Seems to me he was a Democrat, and he would be stumping for Lamont if he were a Democrat today. He is the only member of a vanity plate party.

"A common thread among the geographically and ideologically diverse group is a sense that Lieberman was unfairly being portrayed as a 'bad' Democrat,"

Does this kind of effort on the part of the 50 matter to them more than a fair primary election does? He wasn't found to be a 'bad' Democrat, merely the one fewer Democrats from Connecticut wanted for the job.

The problem for Lamont is that more and more pols are going to sign onto this. It's got good talking points that make it acceptable to be pro-Joe while being apologetic and understanding to those pols who feel a need to, in a partisan way, keep in lockstep with other partisans.

Lamont, btw, is getting bashed by public perception in the latest q poll. Most of the public thinks Lamont hasn't got what it takes to be a senator and an even greater percentage are sick of his whining complaints and want to hear him say what he can do for them. He hasn't got the experience coupled with no message spells bad news for his campaign.

Having Kos back you is clearly becoming radioactive for a moonbat candidate.

Not sure what you meant there. If he is the moonbat's candidate, kos can't hurt that posture. If you think Lamont is a moonbat either he hasn't reached you or you haven't been listening. Reading his contributions at WSJ and his anti-impeachment position should help that.

I want for Lamont to win. I also recognize that Joe would have won the primary in a walk had he cared to. Joe's attitude of entitlement gave Lamont the opportunity to win, not moonbats.

For what its worth, I think the 50 ends with 50. There was nothing to the announcement past a sentimental endorsement. So far I'd say it's an empty gesture, until I see real action. Calling a man a Democrat when he rejects the will of the voters in his party is inaccurate at best.

Not sure where you got your percentages, but even the most eager Joe supporter in my travels has yet to mention whining or lack of message with Lamont.

Joe did very well in the debates, let him debate Lamont a number of times if lack of message is where the jugular is.

Since you seem to be a booster for Joe, can you tell me more about this Dems for Joe movement? What will they do? Speaking tours, fundraisers? Are they going to organize as a 527?

Time will tell, the liberal left will just have to go into a frenzied tither of anticipation ;-)~
