Russia Today interviews Orlov
Russia Today's Marina Portnaya interviews Dmitry Orlov:
or watch America Will Collapse at YouTube.
Although the audio track is sometimes disconcertingly out of sync with the video and plays in the left ear only, the interview is not that hard to follow.
Orlov opens by saying that the US is better positioned to avoid the many deaths that accompanied the Soviet collapse, which I saw as a significant change in view from his writings. But he also repeats his oft-published opinion that the people of the former Soviet Union were better situated to handle collapse. I'm confused as to how he can make both statements in the same interview.
When asked what happens to the rest of the world after a US collapse, Orlov predicts that some nations will suffer political revolt against their middle class and elites after the collapse of the US. I've read opinions that US largesse essentially supports elites in other countries, but Orlov lumps the middle classes in with those elites as having nothing further to offer their people without the US financial system. I suppose by middle classes, he means only business owners and white collar workers as opposed to the US view of middle class as including prosperous blue collar workers as well.
