Torturing Democracy
A two minute snippet from the Torturing Democracy documentary to air on PBS.
Andrew Sullivan complains that it will air after the election, but the website says WETA is carrying it tonight, Oct 17th at 10PM, and that many stations are airing it before Election Day.

An important thing to watch, but I'm afraid the people who need to see it most will tune out. There are still people who think our conduct at Abu Ghraib was justified -- and My Lai, Nicaragua, School of Americas, and any number of things known and unknown. Whether it's denial or tu quoque, US is number 1 and being number 1 means we're right(eous). Hopefully future generations can learn the lessons many of us aren't ready to hear yet.

Agreed, but we have to watch so we can talk back when they deny it.

I think there are millions in the U.S. who are unaware of what's really happening at the hands of Bush's military who would be horrified to see this. They aren't the hardcore conservatives who close their eyes to anything remotely negative--as mentioned by demosaur--but folks who just are otherwise occupied with their lives and do care, do watch PBS, listen to NPR... maybe not as often as some of us, but often enough to maybe see this and maybe be moved to do something, say something... maybe vote differently.
Thanks for posting this Donal.

In what sense is the US #1 today? Object of distrust and disgust? Hatred? Of increased number of enemies?
There is only one way for the US to vindicate itself: arrest and try the Bushit criminal enterprise; or turn them over to those in the world who can maintain sufficient judicious perspective to give them the justice, the due process, the fair trial, they've denied to so many.

This is as serious as a heart attack.
This needs as much circulation as it can be given.
It is essentially the prosecution case against the Bushit criminal enterprise for committing the war crime of torture -- and it is unequivocally and conclusively shown that that they've been doing is torture, and they KNEW AND KNOW it is.
For the first time the story is put together, coherently and completely -- and it is excruciatingly painful.
That enterprise has absolutely disgraced that for which THEY claim the US stands. The first terrorists to worry about are those closest to us. THEY are terrorists.
What gives this added strength are the on-screeen testimonies of such as Col. Wilkerson and Alberto Mora.
This is as serious as a heart attack. And McCain would not only continue these America-hating policies, he would endeavor to prove his "manhood" by being even worse --
there is no alternative: Obama-Biden MUST be elected, along with a majority-Democratic Congress.
This more than makes up for PBS's weak "The Choice," which ends with McCain's selection of Palin, and omits everything about her, including her having been found guilty of abusing the powers of her office in Alaska, in criminal violation of law.

We have to watch it, no matter how painful.
We must bear witness.
