Will Obama Reject The Pinochet Team?

Will Obama Reject The Pinochet Team? Increase  Decrease

Barack Obama's top foreign policy advisors are working hand-in-glove with leading neocons--and McCain advisors--to forge an imperial policy of forcible interventions into sovereign nations such as Myanmar, Sudan, and Zimbabwe. The question is: Will the Senator move now to dissociate himself from these bad apples?

A May 19 op-ed by Washington Post deputy editorial page editor Jackson Diehl, defended the campaign of Obama advisors Anthony Lake and Ivo Daalder to establish a ``Concert of Democracies,'' to sanction military invasions of countries in Africa and Asia. A call by an EIR investigator to Obama headquarters on May 21, elicited a statement from a spokeswoman, who said she would refer the question to the appropriate persons in the campaign, and get back to the caller. There has been no response thus far.

The case against the Lake-Daalder team of promoting a British imperial view is open and shut. Lake, a former member of the Clinton Administration, has been in a partnership with the architect of the Cheney-Bush Presidency, George P. Shultz, for the past five years. The two serve as honorary co-chairs of the Princeton Project on National Security, which came out, in the Fall of 2006, for an Anglo-American-led Concert of Democracies to carry out preventive and preemptive wars of regime change around the world, outside the United Nations Charter. Daalder, a fellow at the Brookings Institution, has teamed up with leading neocon Robert Kagan (an informal advisor to John McCain) to promote interventionism as well, in the form of the Concert of Democracies.

Their outlook, and relationship with Shultz, an architect of the 1973 Pinochet coup in Chile, prompted Lyndon LaRouche to dub the advisers ``Obama's Pinochet Team.'' ``To bring an intimate collaborator of George Shultz in, as his chief national security advisor, is the height of poor judgment on the part of Senator Obama,'' LaRouche observed. ``Doesn't he know about Shultz's role in the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile? Doesn't he know about Operation Condor, and the legions of Nazi war criminals, who were set loose by Shultz, and his fellow Pinochet booster Felix Rohatyn, as death squads all over the Hemisphere and in Europe?''

- The `Concert of Democracies' -

While the Princeton Project policy was put forward as an alternative to the Bush-Cheney unilateral approach, it is actually a virtual printout of British imperial strategy. It global Concert of Democracies, proposal ``would provide an alternative forum for liberal democracies to authorize collective action, including the use of force, by a super majority vote.'' The idea, in specific, was to get around the reluctance of the United Nations, particularly permanent Security Council members Russia and China, which have veto power, to violate national sovereignty.

Under the heading of ``building a Liberal Order,'' Project demands the following reforms of the UN: ``expanding the Security Council to include India, Japan, Brazil, Germany, and two African states as permanent members without a veto; ending the veto for all Security Council resolutions authorizing direct action in response to a crisis; and requiring all UN members to accept `the responsibility to protect,' which acknowledges that sovereign states have a responsibility to protect their own citizens from `avoidable catastrophe,' but that when they are unwilling or unable to do that, that responsibility must be borne by the international community.''

Until the doctrine, otherwise recognizable as the Blair Doctrine for ``humanitarian intervention,'' can be implemented, the Lake-Shultz group argues that the United States and its allies do it themselves.

The Concert of Democracies idea directly echoes the ``League of Democracies'' plan put forward by Anglophile Clarence Streit in 1938. Streit was an American leader of the Milner Group, run by Lord Lothian, a top strategist for the pro-Nazi faction in Britain, who directed Streit to create a propaganda network inside the United States in favor of an Atlantic Union. In his book, Union Now: A proposal for a Federal Union of the Democracies of the North Atlantic, Streit called for the United States, its currency, and its military to be amalgamated with the British Empire, as the ``nucleus of a world government,'' that would impose its will by armed force.

Interestingly, Streit was the father-in-law of fascist financier Felix Rohatyn (his first wife was Jeannette Streit), who, with Shultz, helped organize the Pinochet takeover of Chile.

While it is not known whether Obama has called for the Concert of Democracies policy directly, Republican candidate John McCain did so in his March 26 speech to the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. McCain has also been endorsed by Shultz.

It is crystal clear that the Lake-Shultz approach translates today into a total violation of national sovereignty of developing nations, whom Lake, according to Diehl, accuses of being responsible for blocking ``more efficient peacekeeping operations,'' and causing ``the rising temperatures of our seas, and multiple other transnational threats.'' Enforcement of that approach means genocide.

Will Obama now clean up this problem in his campaign and dump these British agents?

Obama's Pinochet Team

Obama's Pinochet Team

May 21, 2008 (LPAC)--Senator Barack Obama's top campaign national security advisor, Anthony Lake, has been in a partnership with the architect of the George W. Bush and Dick Cheney Presidency, George W. Shultz, for the past five years. Lake and Shultz have been the honorary co-chairs of the Princeton Project on National Security, a group of liberal imperialists, who have been promoting the idea of an Anglo-American led ``Concert of Democracies'' to carry out preventive and preemptive wars of regime change around the world--totally outside the framework of the United Nations Charter. In late 2004, Lake and Shultz's Princeton Project co-sponsored a conference with Felix Rohatyn's Rohatyn Center at Middlebury College in Vermont, promoting the British East India Company model of ``privatization of national security.''

Lake's partnership with George Shultz, the architect of the Pinochet military coup d'etat in Chile, that installed a genocidal regime to impose British free trade through the barrel of a gun, prompted Lyndon LaRouche today to issue warnings about ``Obama's Pinochet Team.'' ``To bring an intimate collaborator of George Shultz in, as his chief national security advisor, is the height of poor judgment on the part of Senator Obama,'' LaRouche observed. ``Doesn't he know about Shultz's role in the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile? Doesn't he know about Operation Condor, and the legions of Nazi war criminals, who were set loose by Shultz, and his fellow Pinochet booster Felix Rohatyn, as death squads all over the hemisphere and in
Europe?''

British Arms Combine BAE Could Face RICO Charges in U.S. Probe

British Arms Combine BAE Could Face RICO Charges in U.S. Probe

May 22, 2008 (LPAC)--Career prosecutors from the U.S. Department of Justice are escalating their investigation into the British arms cartel BAE Systems, centered on billions of dollars in bribes, paid to top Saudi officials, including former Saudi Ambassador to Washington, Prince Bandar bin-Sultan. According to sources close to the investigation, in addition to charges of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, DOJ investigators are now considering adding RICO (racketeering conspiracy) charges, based on BAE evasion of U.S. tax payments. In further signs of escalation of the targeting of BAE, the Justice Department has issued subpoenas against five executives of the company, in recent days. On May 12, two top executives, CEO Mike Turner, and outside director Sir Nigel Rudd, were detained as they arrived in the United States. Both men had their laptop computers, cell phones, and personal papers confiscated, and they were served with subpoenas to appear before a U.S. grand jury. Sir Nigel Rudd is the chairman of BAA, an airport management firm, and is deputy chairman of the leading City of London bank, Barclays.

While the BAE probe is ostensibly centered upon the alleged bribes to Prince Bandar and other top Saudi officials, U.S. intelligence sources confirm that there are two other, far more significant issues, that are driving the probe.

The first issue is the role of Prince Bandar in the 9/11 attacks, and the possibility that some of the BAE bribe money was actually used to fund the hijackers. The 9/11 Commission obtained evidence that between $50-75,000 was provided by Prince Bandar and his wife, Princess Haifa, to two men in California, both believed to be Saudi intelligence officers, who, in turn, shared some of the funds with two of the Sept. 11, 2001 hijackers. Sources report that a 28-page section of the official 9/11 Commission Report, dealing with the Bandar funds, was redacted from the declassified final version. U.S. Senate intelligence committee investigators were reportedly stymied from interviewing FBI agents, who had probed the Bandar fund flows, causing further anger and suspicion, that the full 9/11 story has yet to be told. ``The 9/11 issue is still radioactive among many U.S. intelligence and law enforcement officials,'' one senior U.S. intelligence source acknowledged.

The second issue is the Anglo-Saudi covert fund, accumulated under the ``Al Yamamah'' deal, brokered by Prince Bandar with then-British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 1985. Under the oil-for-arms deal, which continues to this day, MI6 has accumulated an offshore, off-the-books fund estimated at more than $100 billion, according to current and former U.S. government officials, interviewed by Executive Intelligence Review. Those funds have been reportedly used to promote wars and destabilizations around the globe, dating back to the Afghanistan War of the 1980s, when BAE funds were covertly funneled to the Afghan mujahideen. In a recent authorized biography of Prince Bandar, details of the ``Al Yamamah'' slush fund were provided, indicating that some of the funds also went to the purchase of U.S. weapons, bypassing U.S. Congressional oversight.

The Bandar issue is particularly sensitive to the White House, given the Prince's longstanding close ties to the Bush family. Despite these connections, career prosecutors are moving aggressively forward with the BAE probe.

And there are signs that the U.S. Senate may be getting into the act as well.

On May 21, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held hearings on a pending U.S.-British treaty, that would grant British defense firms full access to Pentagon contracts, on an equal standing with American defense firms. While the Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) and the ranking Republican, Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), both indicated that they supported the treaty in principle, they both agreed that the State Department had not provided the Committee with sufficient details on the treaty's implementation, and they have postponed, for at least another three months, any action on the matter. Given that BAE Systems is already the largest foreign contractor with the U.S. Department of Defense, the ongoing DOJ probe could have dramatic implications for the future of the bilateral treaty--and U.S.-British relations in general.

Lyndon LaRouche has emphasized that the conflict between the United States and the British ``BAE'' imperial faction, is the key to understanding the current global strategic situation. Were the United States to break, decisively with London, and align with the three great Asian powers, Russia, China and India, in the tradition of Franklin Roosevelt, all of the major crises facing the planet today could, over time, be peacefully resolved. It is in this context that the BAE case takes on a profound significance

Clinton in Florida: The Right To Vote and Be Counted, Is the Battle Since Slavery

Clinton in Florida: The Right To Vote and Be Counted, Is the Battle Since Slavery

May 21, 2008 (LPAC)--With her speech today in Palm Beach, Sen. Hillary Clinton has also placed Floridians' Constitutional right to have their votes fully counted, in the long progress of ending slavery and winning the right to vote for Black Americans and women. Clinton was speaking to senior citizens, some of whom lost their votes in the Florida recount debacle in the 2000 Presidential election.

She did it while making clear she is continuing until the Democratic National Convention, if necessary, to win this fight for Florida and Michigan, and calling on Sen. Barack Obama to join it.

On slavery or the right to vote: "In each successive generation, this nation was blessed by men and women who refused to accept their assigned place as second-class citizens ... The abolitionists and all who fought to end slavery, and ensure that freedom came with the full right of citizenship."

On the Constitutional principle: "We have certain core rights that no government can abridge and these rights are rooted in, and sustained by the principle that our Founders set forth in the Declaration of Independence. That a just government derives its power from the consent of the governed, that each of us should have an equal voice in determining the destiny of our nation."

On the Florida disenfranchisement of 2000--by corporate purging of public voter lists, Wall Street lawyers' disruption of recounts, and Supreme Court overrule: "We believe that the outcome of our elections should be determined by the will of the people. Nothing more, nothing less. And we believe the popular vote is the truest expression of your will. We believe it today just as we believed it back in 2000 when right here in Florida you learned the hard way what happens when you're votes aren't counted and a candidate with fewer votes is determined the winner.

"I believe the Democratic Party must count these votes. They should count them exactly as they were cast.

"Some say that counting Florida and Michigan would be changing the rules. I say that not counting Michigan and Florida is changing a central governing rule of this country--that whenever we can understand the clear intent of the voters, their votes should be counted."

McCain, Obama Repropose 1938 British Empire Plan to Absorb the U.S.

McCain, Obama Repropose 1938 British Empire Plan to Absorb the U.S.

May 20, 2008 (LPAC)--John McCain, and the foreign policy advisers of Barack Obama, have called for a "League of Democracies" to erase national sovereignty and carry on Anglo-American wars against target nations in Asia, Africa and elsewhere.

The "League of Democracies" was defined in the 1938 book by Clarence Streit, "Union Now: A Proposal for a Federal Union of the Democracies of the North Atlantic." Streit called for the United States, its currency and its military to be amalgamated with the British Empire, as the "nucleus of a world government" that would impose its will by armed force.

Streit was a leader of the Milner Group, run by Lord Lothian -- the old Cecil Family/ Rhodes organization which set Britain's imperial strategy throughout the early 20th century.

Lothian, a top strategist for the pro-Nazi faction, instructed Streit to create a propaganda network inside the U.S., spawning the Atlantic Union movement, led in the U.S. by pro-Hitler financiers and headed by Lord Lothian inside Britain.

The objectives of the proposed League may be understood from the agreement between Lord Lothian and Adolf Hitler, in their 1935 and 1937 conversations, that they should stop non-white countries from getting industrial power, or as Hitler summed it up, that they should "prevent ... their nationals from assisting in the industrializing of countries such as China, and India. It is suicidal to promote the establishment in the agricultural countries of Asia of manufacturing industries."

Today such a League's agenda would include invading Myanmar and Sudan and gearing up for war against China and Russia.

Beginning in 1999, British Prime Minister Tony Blair demanded the League of Democracies project be reinstated.

John McCain called for the British-spawned League of Democracies in his March 26, 2008 speech to the Los Angeles World Affairs Council.

Obama foreign policy adviser Anthony Lake co-chaired, with George Shultz, the Princeton Project on National Security, whose Final Report renamed the League the "Concert of Democracies" and called for wiping out national sovereignty, under the world rule of force.

Obama foreign policy adviser Ivo Daalder called for the same thing in his joint Washington Post column with neo-conservative McCain adviser Robert Kagan August 6, 2007. Both Lake and Daalder remain steadfast for the British scheme.

Union Now author Clarence Streit was the father-in-law of financier Felix Rohatyn, who with financiers' strategist George Shultz helped organize the fascist Augusto Pinochet takeover of Chile. (The Rohatyn Center at Middlebury College has a "visiting scholar," Stanley Sloan, who is on the board of the Streit Council, continuing Streit's plans for a world dictatorship.)

The Press office of the Obama campaign, contacted by Executive Intelligence Review by telephone on May 20, was asked whether Obama differs from his advisers, or from John MacCain, on the British proposal. An Obama spokeswoman said she would refer the question to the appropriate persons in the campaign, and that she would get back to the EIR reporter with a reply.

'FDR' Floridians Demonstrating for Delegation's Rights

'FDR' Floridians Demonstrating for Delegation's Rights: Rules Committee Meeting Secretly To Avoid Them?

May 20, 2008 (LPAC)--When the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee meets in Washington, D.C. May 31, Floridians demanding the seating of their elected delegates at the Democratic National Convention will be demonstrating in the nation's capital, representing 157,000 signers (so far) on a petition to uphold the delegation's rights. But they can't find where Howard Dean's DNC will hold this "open, public" meeting. The DNC appears to be resorting to secrecy to avoid being pressed on the rights of Florida's and Michigan's delegates.

According to Jim Hannagan, the state chair of Florida Demands Representation (FDR), a member of a coalition of groups demanding that the Florida delegates elected in the state's Democratic Party Primary be accorded and seated in accordance with the primary vote. The Democratic Party Rules and Bylaws Committee, which is expected to take up that issue, will meet at an undisclosed location in violation of Open Party rules adopted in 1964. Hannagan, who is organizing a demonstration of at least 1,000 Floridians in Washington, D.C that day, and will raise the issue at the "open" meeting, says he cannot learn its location or what the procedure is for attending it, although by Party rules it must be open to the public.

Hannagan said his group, which endorses neither Hillary Clinton nor Barack Obama, is also planning a series of "Respect Our Votes" demonstrations at campaign stops which Obama will make throughout Florida this week, to demand that he support the seating of the Florida delegation, and that all the votes cast be counted. "FDR" will also build demonstrations throughout the country on May 31 to coincide with the flagship demonstration in Washington. The organization is updating its plans on its website, http://www.floridademandsrepresentation.org

In a petition being circulated among registered voters of both parties, the group declares that the Democratic National Committee, in not recognizing the Florida primary vote, is acting counter to due process and democratic principles, and is engaging in an act of disenfranchisement, and warns that the resulting alienation of voters, who acted in good faith when they cast their votes, may result in protest votes for non-Democratic Presidential candidates.

As of May 9, some 157,080 Floridians had signed the petition, and 1,037 FDR volunteers were actively organizing throughout the state.

Hannagan reported that a recent FDR survey of Florida voters shows that the failure to resolve the issue is causing increased polarization; and that 15-20% of those who took part in the survey are planning to leave the Party. Florida is considered a key swing state in the November Presidential election.

Obama Declares Victory, Clinton Declares Herself Lady Godiva

Obama Declares Victory, Clinton Declares Herself Lady Godiva

May 20, 2008 (LPAC)--With exit polls in Kentucky showing Hillary Clinton with as much as a 30 point lead, the pundits and the press continue to push the line that the race is over for “poor, poor Hillary.” What London and their sorry dupes in the US hate to admit is that this race is far from over, and with sweaty palms, this crowd is growing increasingly desperate.

Look at the facts: The media is attempting to push Hillary out of the race, prematurely announcing Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee; yet, the population is continuing to fight and has delivered five of the last six primary victories to Clinton.

In truth, the only recent accomplishment for the Obama campaign is that he is racking up the best delegates that money can buy. This past week, using George Soros’ dirty money, the Obama campaign purchased John Edwards. If Obama is not desperate, why go through such trouble to buy a three-time loser?

Anything less than a landslide victory in Kentucky today, will raise the important question: which is more absurd, Obama declaring himself the Democratic nominee, or Clinton declaring herself Lady Godiva?

Obama's Advisers Push British Foreign Policy of Wars

Obama's Advisers Push British Foreign Policy of Wars, Invasions Against Eurasia: Is That His Policy?

May 19, 2008 (LPAC)--Barack Obama's top foreign policy advisers are working hand-in-glove with leading neocons - and McCain advisers - on a campaign to turn world power over to the British Empire under the name of a "Concert of Democracies," or a "League of Democracies." The policy they advocate, calling for multiple new British-U.S.-led invasions of countries in Africa and Asia, is the H.G. Wellsian British imperialist policy touted by Prime Minister Tony Blair beginning with his 1999 University of Chicago speech. Is this Obama's foreign policy?

Obama foreign policy leaders Ivo Daalder of the Brookings Institute, and Anthony Lake--co-chairman with George Shultz of the Princeton Project on National Security--are leaders of the British drive to place world government in the hands of this new imperial military League. As the Lake/Shultz Princeton Project concluded in their final report, the purpose of their Concert of Democracies would be "to work within existing global institutions such as the United Nations; but in the event that those fail, to provide a framework for organizing and legitimizing international interventions, including the use of military force."

"The Next Intervention": Under this headline, Obama adviser Daalder co-authored a call for this Concert of Nations with arch neocon Robert Kagan in the Washington Post on August 6, 2007. They were already working for Obama and McCain, respectively.

Jackson Diehl, the deputy editor of the Washington Post, wrote a column today in the Post promoting this Concert of Democracies, arguing that the "non-democracies" China and Russia have "stopped the Security Council from discussing a humanitarian intervention to rescue the 1.5 million Burmese endangered by the criminal neglect of their government following a cyclone,... blocked strong sanctions against Iran... and an attempted UN intervention in Darfur." The new President - either McCain or Obama, says Diehl, without a mention of Hillary Clinton - will be unable to use unilateral power, since it was discredited by George Bush, nor to count on the impotent UN. Diehl quotes Obama's adviser Lake: "Crisis in Iran, North Korea, Iraq and Darfur, not to mention the pressing need for more efficient peacekeeping operations, the rising temperatures of our seas, and multiple other transnational threats, demonstrate not only the limits of American unilateral power, but also the inability of international institutions designed in the middle of the 20th century to cope with problems of the 21st."

That's why McCain is backing the League of Democracies, says Diehl, and Obama's advisers agree.

This is precisely what the Russians, the Chinese and the Indians see clearly as the threat from the British Empire, wiping out the last of the FDR tradition in the U.S. - which is why they have determined to fight, together.

The question is: where does Obama stand? LPAC will be seeking an official answer.

If He's So Confident, Why The Desperate Behavior?

If He's So Confident, Why The Desperate Behavior?

May 18, 2008 (LPAC)--Two recent incidents suggest that, despite the lying media hype that Senator Barack Obama has already secured the Democratic nomination, nothing could be further from the truth, and the Obama backers and some Howard ``Scream'' Dean people are now resorting to desperate tactics, including heavy-handed pressure and outright bribery, to try to stop Senator Hillary Clinton's building momentum, going into the final series of primary elections.

Sources close to the Obama camp have reported that the May 14 endorsement by former Senator and Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards, came at a heavy price. According to one source, Edwards was put under tremendous pressure to endorse Obama now, or face total isolation by the Obama camp. A second source added that ``private donors'' very close to Obama made major contributions to an Edwards anti-poverty project, to buy the Senator's endorsement. Just days before Hillary Clinton's landslide victory in the West Virginia primary on May 13, Edwards had announced his intentions to remain neutral until the nomination had been finalized. Then, on May 14, he made his about-face and endorsed Obama. The day before the endorsement, on May 13, Edwards had been in Philadelphia to launch a new anti-poverty campaign, called ``Half-in-Ten,'' whose avowed goal is to cut poverty in America in half in the next decade. Two of the groups participating in the coalition, the Center for American Progress Action Fund and ACORN, are both almost exclusively funded by none other than George Soros, and his Democracy Alliance of billionaires. Soros launched the Democracy Alliance in April 2005, in an effort to assure Anglo-Dutch financier domination over the Democratic Party, through the pooling of the wealth of 70 multi-millionaires and billionaires, into a targeted list of Democratic Party organizations and think tanks. Among the members of the Soros group is Fred Baron, a wealthy Dallas, Texas attorney who was finance chairman for John Edwards' failed 2004 presidential campaign.

In another move that clearly showed more signs of desperation than confidence, Obama backers induced Prince George, Maryland County Executive Jack Johnson, a Hillary Clinton delegate, to announce, on May 14, that he was switching his convention vote to Obama--despite the fact that, under Democratic Party rules, elected delegates are bound to the candidate they were elected to represent in the primary--at least on the first ballot. Both the Maryland Democratic Party and Howard Scream's DNC made no effort to shoot down Johnson's defection. The increasing thug tactics being used by Obama backers in recent days is a reflection of growing concern that, coming out of Senator Clinton's landslide victory in West Virginia, and the overwhelming support that she is winning among blue collar voters, and other constituents in the lower 80 percent income bracket, it may be impossible to settle the nomination battle before the August nominating convention in Denver. Lyndon LaRouche has emphasized that, if Senator Clinton continues her active candidacy into the August convention, she will win the nomination, and then go on to soundly defeat John McCain in the general election in November. LaRouche has warned for months that Obama is not electable, and that leading City of London financial circles had backed Obama, only to knock Clinton out of the race. Ultimately, they intend to assure that he is never elected President. Increasingly, Obama backers in many states around the country, are coming to see that LaRouche's warnings were correct.
