I just got done listening to the BBC try to have a semi-intelligent conversation with the
"organizers" of the Florida church who want to do the above. The idea that the BBC has been reduced to covering American "Christian" white trash has Edward Murrow rolling in his grave. The bottom has been hit. Can you hear it? NPR, BBC, ABC, NBC, HuffPost...all careening towards the bottom of the barrel? It should be a longer fall down than it is but listen for the splash any minute now.

Freaks in the "news" have now definitely become the media's CRACK and the media has become a bunch of crack whores. Where will it end?

I have written about this before only because I remember a time when freaks were given a paragraph if that in the news because the reporters were busy covering real stories.

Instead they now completely legitimize these freaks, allow them to gather even more freaks, and the result in this case may be the death of Americans overseas. There is no power of discrimination anymore apparently, on any level, even if it means the death of innocent people. "We have to cover these clowns!! It's news!! Plus, it really ups our profits!!"

Media Crack Whores.

No you don't have to "cover" them. They are clowns. They are a waste of space. They do not deserve to be legitimized by you. IGNORE THEM. Give them due they deserve. NOTHING.

Please please please get off the crack mainstream media. Start covering the news. Your democracy is on life support and it is calling--LISTEN.

A friend of mine just sent me an "alert" from a highly corporately influenced "environmental group" that we should respond immediately to Sarah Palin's call to drill in the Arctic.

 The "environmental group" is as idiotic as Sarah Palin because by responding to her

idiocy, they legitimize her and give her credibility.

 The idea of legitimizing non-credible people is from the very wise Noam Chomsky.

Let's face it, the media, aside from this site and folks like Amy Goodman, Pacifica Radio, and other legitimate news sites, are addicted to covering societal sociopaths including the Huffington Post (I did not try to post this on their site because as we all know, they would not post this).

 Every time any media outlet of some size quotes, reacts, mentions, or otherwise covers

any of these people, and you know who they are--call them the "Far Right Wing" if you want-- they offer to people who we can only call clinically psychologically sociopathic, legitimacy and credibility when they have NONE.

 Much of the media is ADDICTED to covering them. Like heroin. I am asking alternative media and mainstream media, like a good drug addict, to admit you are addicted to covering these people for whatever reason, and GO THROUGH WITHDRAWAL and get off the heroin.

There was a time when these people were on the fringe, tolerated by society but kept on the FRINGE.

 There was a time when CREDIBILITY was a factor regarding what you would and would not cover.

 There was a time when the concept of the public good drove what the media covered.

 Listen to me. IGNORE THEM. PLEASE. The time you spend covering these people is time you could be reporting legitimate news. Ignore them. Let's put them back on the fringe where they belong.  They belong on the Comedy Channel.  Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert have not let us down! They will continue to use them for all they are good for--comedic fodder.

 THIS IS WHERE THEY BELONG. ON THE COMEDY CHANNEL. NO WHERE ELSE.

If you are wondering what in the hell is going on in the world these days, I can tell you--the manifestation of human biology in the form of the primitive brain. The human species has not evolved out of the primitive brain meaning we are still driven by primitive behaviors like

greed, possession, territoriality, hysteria (the right wing right now), fear, tribal behavior...

Sure we are dressed better than 1000 years ago but our motivations are the same. Just because an animal can manipulate its environment in more sophisticated ways does not mean is any more evolved in terms of planning or long-term intelligence. The point is, we are still looking after number one and number is me. Number one is you. Number one is your corporation. Number one is not your kids (or else we would see millions of parents angrily marching around the world). Number one is not your grandkids. Number one is not your planet. You are number one. You can't help it. It is in your genes. It is in your biology and it is your incredibly short life span. Our short life span programs us to be selfish assholes.

 

There is an easy solution that will take care of everything and this is the elimination of money. Money is the manifestation of the primitive brain in the human species and it is the real axis of evil. Everything turns on this axis and everything is dying because of it. Perhaps a sign that the human species is in fact pathetically unevolved and stupid is we invented money. We invented the very stuff that is killing us off and we refuse to cease using it to save our very planet. This is truly evolutionary stupidity at its height so yes; natural selection does tend to knock off the stupid individuals first. So we are doomed if we do not eliminate money anyway. The only way to overcome our biological shortcomings is to allow cultural evolution to take over meaning we see our destructive biology and we impose a rational cultural solution to it--elimination of money.

 

Once we eliminate money, we can redistribute the wealth to everyone who needs it and we will be able to do this. Every one will get a shelter and/or a place to live or a home. Every one will get transportation. Everyone will get food. Everyone will get what they need. What they NEED, not necessarily what greed dictates but without money, there may be no more greed. If you can have what you want anyway, where does the greed come in? Greed will start to look ridiculous.

 

The idea that we will fall at the feet of our own invention is as absurd and tragic as to be almost incomprehensible. I imagine some beings from another planet visiting our dead planet maybe 1000 years from now and discerning that we died off because of something we invented called money. These beings will look at one another and ask, "Why didn't they just change?"

 

Human beings did not change because they allowed their primitive biology to overwhelm their cultural knowledge and observations. They chose extinction over choice and they had a choice. This is the ultimate tragedy. Their evolution had come far enough to allow them CHOICES and despite this....they chose stupidity. Therein, back to my point. Evolution doesn't do stupid.  The elimination of money is going to be, at some point, our only option in order to save the planet. To do anything less than this is to resign ourselves to our own extinction and natural selection will operate on us like any other species. Bring it on.

We are a crazy nation, the crazy driven mostly by those who lack critical thinking skills and are intellectually lazy. America has never done intellectuals starting with the battles revolving around our Constitution both within and outside the Continental Congress. Now within the modern era we have the never-ending campaign by the Republicans to dumb down American citizens in order to retain power simply by regularly generating hysteria over something, anything, no matter how frivolous or ridiculous--once people like Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh would have been pushed back to the fringes where they came from but Americans love a good show and by darn these people provide it along with a ready dose of hysteria. As long as the masses are hysterical over SOMETHING that polarizes them against the smarter ranks, the hysteria and perhaps pending violence will over-rule rational and intellectual thought thus undercutting those "liberals" the definition of which I no longer have the slightest idea due to corporate media alchemy. Hysteria and hatred seems to be the only way apparently current GOP'ers think they can stay in power and this is just lazy. Lazy and destructive but they don't care because it's about them. Absolute narcissism doesn't hurt either. So we have this as one nail in the democracy coffin--the demonization of genuine thought and discourse among Americans.

The next nail was pounded in when they kicked people out of their homes in order to bail out already filthy rich criminal bankers. This was just sheer barbarism, let's face it. If anything at all happens to these mostly white male collar criminals, it will only be because they pissed off their shareholders. It will NOT be because they screwed us all over.

The nail before that, lest I forget, was Hurricane Katrina but ok, I'll just go ahead and call the entire Bush era one big fat fing nail or more apt, a big screw.

Another currently being pounded nail is the way Governor Schwarzenegger of California is treating the public sector, particularly the public state workers that serve the citizens of California. These people are in charge of insuring the water is drinkable, the air breathable, pesticides regulated, poisons regulated, medical care disbursed, that kids go to decent schools and colleges, citizens getting vaccinated, vaccines pass as being of high quality...all the NORMAL things one would expect from its state government but not only is the Governor torturing these people relentlessly with insults and threats and making the citizens nearly hysterical about how evil state workers are (while their taxes quietly still go to them-no cuts in taxes for the citizens despite cuts in services they paid for) , they may have to endure this lack of respect and contempt from their own boss for another year if not years because of the damage and hatred he has spun. Of course, he is also quietly privatizing state government. You can figure it out.

Another big nail is the audacity of the college administrators to raise tuition in the California state colleges by over 30%. No lead time. No phasing it in. Just sandblast the students down to sheer bone. Who cares about the future. Planet's dying anyway. 

The next nail...There are the warnings about all the pending fees coming down the pike--on your checking account, your credit card, your mortgage...kick the dog while its down and kick it f-ing hard. America was always built on greed but now it's a new naked game baby. Whatever you got left, we're going to strip you of it. Get ready.

But perhaps the final nail for me in this coffin came a few weeks ago when I rolled my car into the middle of what the county sheriff was calling "a sting." I had never seen anything like this.
There were sheriff's cars, motorcycles, and lights everywhere and every one of them had someone they had pulled over. It was also 8:00 a.m. on a Monday. I was appalled. It was literally like a police state. Aside from wondering if I was on the border between Israel and Gaza, I also found it nearly despicable that they would wage a "sting" when people are just trying to get to work in the morning. Could there be nothing lower? As if living from day to day for us poor slobs is not hard enough, they stage a "sting" at 8:00 a.m. on a Monday. Why? Because, as they so blatantly admitted in the newspapers, "we need the money." No, it was not because they are concerned about public safety. They need the money. Aside from the fact that I thought fait accompli law enforcement was illegal, also known as entrapment, here we are now where there is not even the guise of public safety motivating them. "We need the money." Just like all the trees getting cut down for "fire safety." It has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with money. Now they just come out and say it.

So I have no illusions anymore. It is here now. Capitalism has trumped democracy not so fair and square (but it's capitalism; what do you want?). Do not deceive yourself any longer. Whatever little thin shred of democracy is gone.

Let the gouging begin. Welcome to your new cold hearted version of America.

buy socks made in China as Christmas presents that the person we are buying them for really doesn't need and our pay has been cut due to bailing out Wall Street but the socks are under $10 and it's better than not getting them something at all and anyway, the bill for our latest Narcissitech device (they are in the process now of reinventing the telephone but will call it something else so you have to buy it) just went up again and it's either socks from Walmart for $8.99 for a 3-pack or cutting out the texting or "tweeting" as they called it, about really trivial and meaningless shit like standing in line at Walmart to buy 3-pack socks for $8.99.

No. We really don't have time to think about you, unborn or recently born children. The big flat screen television made in China is on sale at ElectroTech Warehouse and if we don't get there by 9 p.m. we won't get one.

So climate change? Oh C'mon. You can deal with it when you get there because we'll all be dead anyway. I mean, a bunch of really important people just pumped about 500,000 tons of carbon into the air to talk about climate change and they didn't end up doing anything except to offer to buy off a bunch of people from poor countries and man, they flew like, to EUROPE to do this and they don't even care! But I hear some people had fun and stuff and a couple of them got ARRESTED. ARRESTED!! Over carbon dioxide!  A GAS!!! They got arrested OVER A GAS!!! JESUS. This is so so so so lame. Go smoke some hash or something while you are over there but don't go to jail OVER A GAS! God. Stupid.

We just have more important things to deal with as you can see.

Merry Christmas.

1. Convert all lanes that currently serve cars into mass transit. Start with the highways that serve the most people. Towns where people drive into bigger towns to get their basic essentials. The goal is to convert at least one lane of existing highway into a mass transit option (train, trolley, etc). No new construction needed. No environmental impacts required. Corridors people already know and use. Simple.

2. Slap solar panels on top of every building and home in America regardless of the major power companies trying to kill this so they can ram ridiculously huge habitat-killing "green" energy projects into deserts and sensitive habitats. Their greatest fear is Americans will put solar panels on their homes and even consider getting off the grid. Massive "green" energy projects will keep Americans right where they want them: on the grid. Who is sabotaging panels on the roof of your house? Your electric company.

3. Set up the kind of system they have in Germany where you can lease your land to the power companies so they can install small wind turbines and solar panels. Provide incentives for small local power companies to take this over. Since America is fascist and run by corporations, they will fight this all the way to their climatic deaths but if someone had some courage and balls, it could be done.

4. A friend of mine just hired a woman who will commute one hour each way to his business. I told him this was incredibly stupid. There are lots of people in our town who could have taken this job but he wanted to hire this woman. Create a tax deduction and incentive program for employers (or make it mandatory) to hire from the "inside out" meaning they have to prioritize hiring people from as close to the business as possible and move out from there. They get a tax deduction for every employee within 20 miles of their business they hire and an extra deduction if these employees car pool or use mass transit. This will not only cut down on carbon gases, it will keep local communities viable.

5.  Every grocery store must have a "locally produced food" section and the food in this section is the cheapest in the store. The stores can deduct any losses from their taxes in the name of keeping local businesses and agriculture alive however, most likely, if the prices are low enough, there will be no losses and increased demand. Again, this would build strong communities in addition to cutting carbon from importing food on planes from bumfuck whoknowswhere.

I have more ideas. A ton of them. So do the 240 people who just got arrested in Copenhagen. Or the 24,000 people milling around there outside of the dialogue. How is it the morons in Copenhagen locking every one out
cannot come up with these very common sense ideas or, I get it, I forgot. This is about propping up corporate power with a "cap and trade"system, not solving the prospect of total planetary death. Oops. Of course, the only good thing about taking the fascist approach is no corporation will be worth shit on a dead planet. You would think these morons would get this but this is why the human species probably deserves to go extinct. We just could not get past the primitive brain=greed, fear, possession, territoriality and this in turns lead to the very type of insanity that is going to tank us all. It is the same kind of insanity that led to the collapse of the banks and the bailing out of these banks at the expense of hard-working honest people. The same mentality is driving things now.

It is the same kind of insanity that led to the collapse of the banks and the bailing out of these banks at the expense of hard-working honest people. The same mentality is driving things now.

There are solutions. There are just no evolved human beings in charge the things, only those in nice clothes with primitive brains. Corporate puppets have strings. Look at them. Take a good hard look at them then look up. What you see up there is the problem--the ones holding the strings. It's time to cut them.

The only thing is, for people who know this school district, no one is surprised. They are notorious for this sort of stupidity and extremism. They are also a huge district with thousands of students. Your tax dollars at work.

I know many of you from the East Coast are horrified but here ya go. Welcome to a bankrupted California (not just in finances) as of 2009.

It all started at a Kerry fundraiser I attended when, after a solid bit of some damn good political discussion which we now label and stigmatize as "ranting" so as to degrade any justified show of emotion and passion whatsoever, a woman dressed in a big swirly skirt and a head scarf shoved her business card in my hand and told me I "don't have to live with my anger." She offered some kind of New Agey goobly gook class so I can "live in peace yet work on change constructively." It wasn't till the drive home it hit me what in the hell she was doing. What they all do now--shame us out of our VERY justified rage and anger about what is happening right now from bailouts to climate change. She was also hoping to make a little dough on my outburst. Oh the beauty of narcissism.

These people are extremely dangerous and have killed, yes killed, the Democrat Party and the Progressive Movement.

The New Agers as far as I can tell, are old Baby Boomer hippies that went from drugs,
narcissism and some incidental social change to just straight old narcissism. The "N" in New Age stands for NARCISSISM.

It isn't the GOP that is sucking the passion out of the progressive movement. It is the progressive movement sucking the passion out of the progressive movement. I call them "Liberal Police." They patrol progressive conferences, workshops, meetings and even house parties for proper "liberal" behavior and if you're angry or worse, verbal about it, they pounce on your ass quicker than Nancy Pelosi can take impeachment off a table. 

They're job is to shame you out of our perfectly justified fury. (Which even more dangerous, could lead to actual ACTION--ANGRY action).  Lord, what would they have done with Martin Luther King? Taken him to a retreat where he could get in touch with his inner child? Tell him to attend a workshop where he could learn to read his own aura? Would progressives nowadays support Martin Luther King or beg him to "settle down" and "get a massage."? I really do not think Progressives would be able to support an angry black man because it would look really really bad. I mean, he is an "angry black man" and well, we just can't have that. An angry black man or even an angry white man...well, this would make progressives look like what they REALLY are. Really fucking angry.

The Liberal Police are brilliant at shaming passionate people for showing ANY emotion at all and they are great at making you feel like there is something really wrong with you for being angry.

But I have no tolerance for the pathetic little worms anymore (I'm sorry, they never take a stand against anything. They are pathetic little worms).

I feel sorry if any of these folks approach me now because my response is YEA, SO I"M ANGRY AND GUESS WHAT? I AM FINE WITH MY ANGER. I LOVE MY ANGER. I EVEN ROLL AROUND WITH MY ANGER! MY ANGER AND I ARE CRAZY ABOUT ONE ANOTHER! Then I ask them why in the hell aren't they angry? There's alot to be pissed off right now. Wake up! Lobotmy over!

But alas. No. Self-righteous New Agers can NEVER get angry so instead they just get passive aggressive. The liberal progressive new age movement is dripping with passive aggressive behavior. Watch your back.

In thinking about it, the last real liberal was Hunter S Thompson who felt things down to the depths of his soul. Who had a buttload of guns and loved firing them. Who spoke his mind. Who didn't give a crap about political hedging and parsing. Who did a lot of drugs. Who lived his damn life but by a code. A code the woman in the swirly ass skirt and head scarf does haven't a clue about because she's too busy patroling people for proper behavior. Hunter would have made this woman turn inside out.

Real passion ain't pretty.

How I long for this kind of progressive again. Hell I long for anyone with a goddamned personality. But I think personalities have been banned as well. Not professional to have one.
Sidebar: Handy job tip. If you are looking for a job, esp in a corporation or government agency,
the first thing you want to get rid of is your personality. Right before you go through the door, pretend you have had a lobotomy. It's fun! (No laughing out loud though. This blows it).  Learn meaningless and mindless small talk and make sure you hit the vending machine at least once a day and "hang out" with your other co-workers to discuss what you crap you will buy from it that day. Great way to bond!).

How I long for Ed Abbey, Molly Ivins, Kurt V....all progressives in their own right. All with, gasps, big personalities, and all who effected real social change in this country and had the courage to do so only because they never thought about that what they had was courage..

No one can tell me we give a damn about future generations because we obviously do not.

If you heard the conversation on Science Friday today about the need to "geoengineer" our lame selves out of planetary death, you could pretty much tell that we just don't give a damn about anybody but ourselves.

The conversation was like something from science fiction only it was for real. Apparently it will become imperative that we "do something" to prevent catastrophic planetary climate change but of course none of us around right now, at least 40 and up, will REALLY need to worry about it so screw all you 30-somethings and less not to mention all those babies not born yet as we relentlessly pulse towards 7 billion (earth's carrying capacity is 1 billion--Houston, we have a problem). I mean, who cares for those of us on the way OUT?

The conversation was with Dr. Rob Jackson who was representing the Ecological Society of America. I was bucking for the guy. Go Rob go!! Say we are the pathetic narcissistic species we are! Go ahead! You are an ecologist! A scientist. You can get away with it dude!  Say it! But alas, no. This guy sounded like the token climate change "expert" from the American Enterprise Institute talking in all seriousness about re-engineering the planet without giving as much as a glimmer of the magnitude of what he was saying. (Note too the utter lack of courage from anyone in leadership positions today aside from Sarah Palin who shows tremendous courage in wanting to lead us off a cliff). Does anyone understand the magnitude of what he was saying? That THE PLANET IS DYING? DOES ANYBODY GET THAT  but see my first sentence then go watch T.V.

The astounding thing is everyone says we have to DO something!!!! (And I loved it when India told Hillary to shove it up her ass. She was imploring India to take more steps to control climate change.  India's leaders asked her what sacrifices Americans have been asked to made for climate change and guess what folks? The answer is ZERO. We have not been asked to sacrifice one damn thing).

So we have to "DO" something!!!! Gosh, and what might that be? Gosh. Hmmmm.....2000+ research articles....uhmm...gosh...I don't know. HOW ABOUT IF WE STOP DRIVING? BURNING COAL? WE COULD DO THIS LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, TOMORROW? PHASE IT IN OVER A FEW MONTHS? CHANGE OUR SOCIETY ENOUGH TO SAVE OUR OWN PLANET? But I talk such silliness...

The other absurdity was when Jackson said that taking measures to save our planet would be expensive. NO!!! REALLY???? YOU'RE KIDDING? YOU MEAN SAVING AN ENTIRE PLANET FROM A BUNCH OF SELF-ABSORBED BEINGS WHO REFUSE TO MAKE ANY SACRIFICES AT ALL SO INSTEAD WE WILL JUST "RE-ENGINEER" THE ENTIRE F-ING PLANET WILL BE EXPENSIVE? GOSH. REALLY? I see. So instead of not driving anymore and not burning coal, two things we could do pretty easily do and quickly albeit with major adjustments, we will just RE-ENGINEER THE ENTIRE PLANET INSTEAD. Gosh and then there is the idea floating around that it's time for us to start colonizing the moon. Instead of just stopping with the driving and coal, we'll re-engineer the whole planet and move to the moon!!! SUPER!!

Sure. And god forbid we put money BELOW planetary death. I mean we invented money as a species and we could always DEINVENT IT but no, we'll have money right up to the point where our little eyeballs go out in one spectacular conflagration. Hold on to your cash folks when we finally burn up!!

In summary, and a calmly as I can possibly manage, we could phase out driving, at least on fossil fuels, and shut down coal plants immediately. We could create incentives to develop a solar car and slap those panels on our roofs (something the huge power companies DO NOT want us to do or those huge "green" transmission line projects may go by the wayside). We could be very happy with working closer or in our homes and/or getting 20 mph in our solar cars. We could also phase out currency or money since it appears we love it so much, we are ready to sacrifice our own planet and the future of our children for it. We invented it. We can de-invent it.

But we are not completely evolved as a species and the reptilian brain is still in charge. We are really in reality, a very sick species.

A researcher I know recently suggested Sarah Palin might be suffering from neurotoxicity from eating so much fish, as in mercury contamination. This could explain her profound and disturbing wackiness. But now I wonder if we are not all walking around with our brains laden with contaminants affecting our behavior? I mean, I kind of hope this is it otherwise there is no excuse.

It turns out we are probably a species that really really needs to and indeed deserves to go extinct. Give the earth and all the innocent creatures on it-- a freaking permanent break.

Maybe see you on the moon in a few years. 

The hysterical party vesus the non-hysterical (possibly lobotomized?) party.

(I mean wouldn't it be nice if the Democrats could show something beyond behavior akin to frontal lobotomies and get MAD about SOMETHING? ANYTHING? Like eight years of Rove-Cheney-Bush and the mess it has left us in? Like bonuses with public money? Gosh, wouldn't it be great if Obama would even MENTION this...except then it would highlight the fact that if they were so appalled by the last eight years, why are they just bitching about it now? Why didn't they do something about it then?).

The idea of living in a country for the rest of my entire life and having to endure what is now a well-established method of the right wing exhausts me. The method is HYSTERIA, as if you have not noticed. This is what they are hysterical about:

Obama is taking our guns.

Obama was born in a foreign country and his birth certificate was forged.

We don't mind our taxes going to corporations and banks but fire will rain from the heavens if we actually get something for our tax dollars, like health care.

Obama's health care plan includes the clubbing of little old ladies with baseball bats.

Is this it now? The state of political (no, this is not even political), utterly empty brain dead dialogue in America is putting right-wing circus freaks on televsion and the radio where they spew ridiculous hysterical spittle from their mouths in an effort to get the most stupid of our nation riled up?

I keep thinking this is going to stop eventually but I don't think it is. As long as media outlets offer these subhumans forums to behave like this, it will never stop. The result will be the ever lowering of the bar in this country for intelligence. ( Talk to any 23 year old and you will be able to confirm that our national education system is in fact, in deep trouble).

There is one thing I am nearly hysterical about and that is these hysterical right wing idiots  may never go away. The Swift Boating of critical and important national issues will be what we get for the rest of our lives now. Or more apt, I will have to work to avoid these right wing idiots for the rest of my life. Great.

Cultural evolution in America is done then if this is it. We topped out. It's all downhill from here. The left is too intent on policing itself instead of showing any courage and leadership and as Bill Maher has said, the left is now the new right while the right has gone insane. My experience is insane people are locked up and/or treated. They aren't given television shows where they appeal to people just like them until they are a hysterical writhing mass of ignorance but this is the goal of the right wing now. Create a hysterical writhing mass of hatred. Dr. Tiller. This is the tragic consequence of right-wing hysteria which as far as I can tell has no checks at all. So the idea of this as the modus operandi of our media and nation exhausts and alarms me. It will never stop. For every Rush Limbaugh, there are three more and each will receive a million dollar a year contract.

Their actions are hysterical, hate-filled, and destructive. And where are the checks?

There are none.

If this is it now, then be afraid, be very afraid, in fact, feel free to get hysterical about it.
