I am disappointed as hell in Obama but I also suggest you look at some of the photos of people at the so-called "Town Hall Meetings." The signs, masks, and symbols they brought were, sorry, incredible racsist and hateful. I mean, maybe you think a mask of Obama with a white cross pasted across the forehead is just plain political discontent but I gosh darn it, don't. I kinda think Americans do hate and they do hate really really well. In fact fundamentally, I think Americans hate one another's guts for one reason or another (thanks Glenn Beck, Sean H, Rush L because I know you consider national hate a badge of your success).

Check out some of the photos/U-2 videos of some of the happy folks who showed up at the meetings and if you still think Carter is wrong, well, I might suggest you get your head examined or
see the American version of the world for what it is--racist. Keep in mind too Obama did NOT agree with Carter in his assessment. He did NOT agree if this makes you feel any better.

Joe Wilson on the other hand performed one and it was totally contrived. THIS was a publicity stunt if you are really looking for one.

"Parties" are nothing because, like an amoeba they are constantly shifting and changing therefore the existence of "parties" as some kind of fixed entity is impossible so it is almost oxymoronic to be a "member" of something that is constantly shifting and changing mostly just to preserve itself.

Look at all the different amalgamations of the Republican and Democrat parties through time and you see this very very well. At one time, the "Republican" party was more like the "Democrat" party is now and vice versa.

Parties in America don't exist!!

What is the quote? It is like the fire that burns unchecked, that of the loyalty to the party over the nation?

And of course, having only TWO choices leads to division. This is ridiculous that we only have two.

The quickest and most effective thing you can do is Register Decline to State. Reject both parties.

Don't wait for the others to form. They may never form.

Right now. Today. Tomorrow, you can go down to the county clerks office and register Decline to State. Imagine if the majority of Americans did not declare a party. It would make the media and pundits go insane. They could no longer tell us who to vote for and how to think. We would hold our cards close to our chests. We would vote the person and not the party.

But I am sure George Washington is rolling in his grave. His prophecy is coming true. Our country is sick and falling apart and an irrational loyalty to party over country on the part of the "right wing" is the reason.

The reality of it is, those in power have learned to IGNORE US. Let me say this again. THEY HAVE LEARNED TO IGNORE US. I am someone who is still using all the normal channels of a "democracy" only because I have been using them my entire life and I know no other way. They USED to work (protests, writing letters, calling, etc). After all, Nixon did step down (contrast this with Cheney and Bush).

But these normal channels do not work anymore NOT because we are not USING THEM but because we have a media that is stupid and entertainment driven
and politicians have learned they can ignore people and get away with it.

Last year, I was one of 200 people who attended a protest to end the war in Iraq. We held it near the capitol where I live. There was a moment where someone said, "there is no one here from the media? Is there anyone here from the media?"
NOT ONE. Sure, we can take pictures and post them on U-tube but the point is even with press releases, THE "MEDIA" MEANING THE LOCAL NEWSPAPERS AND TELEVISION STATIONS DID NOT SHOW UP FOR OUR PROTEST. Please contrast this with the 60's or 70's. No one from the local media SHOWED UP.

So who would you like to blame in this scenario? It infuriates me when I read pudnit after pundit whining about how "apathetic Americans are" but let me tell you. We are OUT THERE but no one, including even you apparently, gives a damn anymore. We're all just a bunch of apathetic losers now. Well, sht. Maybe I will just skip that next health care meeting. I mean, my God. Now we cannot even have live music without some, I'm sorry they say they are not corporate but corporate is as corporate does, CORPORATE "non-profit" killing music in our town.

And your sad response is to populate this stressed planet even more? How much longer are ANY of us going to be on this planet? 20-30 years?
And we talk like we will live forever and we are so important. You are ever SO important, I realize.

You want your 12 billion? You elevate the human species above all other species at great peril to your OWN species. No population of beings can exponentially increase (look this up in the dictionary if you don't know what it means and some of you apparently do not and you might want to acquaint yourself with some guy named Malthus, while you are at it) without checks and costs to other species. Do you you know the meaning of the word FINITE? But more importantly, why do we have the RIGHT to kill other species and at 12 billion, we will. Such arrogance. It is this arrogance that I find astounding. Just astounding.
But this is also evidence of the reptilian or primitive brain--the idea that we are superior. We can keep populating. We can elevate our own importance. All signs of an evolutionary glitch of catastrophic proportions.

This is our time to GET IT. TO be HUMBLED. To STEP BACK.
