Still No Solid Connection Between Republicans and Corporations

I really have grown dispirited over the lack of solid connection drawn by Media between Corporations and Republicans.

Set aside for the moment all of the Democrats who cannot seem to operate in a fashion that puts people first....and let us just consider the different smokescreens thrown up by nearly ALL MEDIA as to who really pulls the strings of republicans. Contrary to popular memes, Repubs are not invigorated by their conservatism. Their social values. Their loyalty to a CAUSE. Their love of family. It isn't even a White Thing.

Republicans cannot keep faith with their God. Cannot keep faith with their spouses. Cannot keep faith with their constituents. But they NEVER ONCE in recorded history have failed to keep faith with MONEY or their Corporate Masters. Perhaps that is because they truly ARE Corporate Beings....creatures designed and animated by Big Wealth.

I would surely appreciate a News Source which properly labeled and tagged them as the servants of the Rich....the emissaries of Commerce....constantly and consistently.

And of course we need to be weeding out the Dems who are Corporate Critters, or those who are being romanced by Corporations to betray their People.

I sometimes understand how Naive commenters and young folks do not draw the fine distinction. But I cannot understand how reporters, journalists, and talking heads continue to bamboozle and obfuscate the one CORE, ROCK HARD principle of all Republicans and RightWing enterprise as CORPORATE CORPORATE CORPORATE.

Corporations are effectively using the Philosopher's Stone....the old alchemist's holy grail....to turn Lead into Gold. They are turning the Natural World into pocket money. Everything on this planet is fair game for them to strip, chew, grind, smelt into wealth for themselves. Humans used to be, and many of us are still, part of whatever Natural World is left....and therefore we are also Grist for their Mill. Behold HealthCare....the ultimate CAPTURING of an entire people and the metering out of their years based on profit. Discard them when profit is less sure.

We witnessed quite a backlash from the populace in 2006 and 2008....and quickly saw the clamps come down on that nonsense. Obama brougth quickly into line, reforms dashed, other initiatives squashed and ground into the mud. We are going nowhere the Corporations don't want us to go. At least it is time to stop calling their representatives Conservative, Family Values, Religious and other phoney names. Let us at least recognize WHO we are dealing with....InHuman Juggernauts with unlimited lifespan and powers - Corporations.

I just want to add that I see a LARGE distinction between someone who avariciously and wholeheartedly and gleefully advocates for Corporate domination....and someone who is grudgingly beholden and pressured into acting on behalf of the Corporations.

I loathe the Dems who do the bidding of Big Money....but I understand that a lot of them are pressured, blackmailed, and manouvered into something that obviously galls them and eats away at their self-esteem and effectiveness. Make no mistake....I want them gone too. But I understand that we got to where we are by having a lot of good people fall by the wayside, seduced by the most powerful force currently on our planet.

My main beef is the Republican party getting a free pass in the Corporate Media for almost a Century, no-one in Media dares breathe the connection between Corporate and Republican. If our population knew that these Repubs were only fighting for Corporations and not for Jesus and Whites and Family Units we would be a lot better off....and Dems would have a much easier time of getting Pro People legislation passed.

I think this blog goes out of its way, to once again, demonize an entire section of of the American electorate, give a pass to the "corporate dems" who have been just as complicit in our subjugation, and seems a rather simplistic view of the historical journey that took us from there to here.

This country has been by, of and for the corporations almost since day one. Corporate (or commercial if your prefer) interests dictated the 3/5 "compromise" at the very beginning.

Remember, it was the "corporate" republicans who made the democratic party give up slavery. It was the "corporate" republicans who created the National Park System. It was a corporate democrat who killed American manufacturing and created the Prison Industrial Complex. Granted, both parties have ebbed and flowed with the current of history, sometimes the hero and sometimes the villain. Almost always the victim, no matter who is on the podium.

Times change, though sometimes the people involved never do.

Just as every problem in the country could be traced to democrats as far as the right is concerned, here democrats get caught in the same trap, likely with the same consequences - a more firmly divided and divisive country than ever before. Continued partisan framing of large, complex and multivariate problems will ensure that nothing truly substantial will change.

I agree to a point. The Reps serve big money philosophically, but unless you're talking about outliers like Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader and Green party candidates, both Dems and Reps eventually answer to money.

jem,
He's not entirely ignoring those Dems that whore for the corporate cabal.

"And of course we need to be weeding out the Dems who are Corporate Critters, or those who are being romanced by Corporations to betray their People."

Republican are not the same as CONServatives, but I really can't figure out which of those is the worst actor. But both are rather hypocritical in their talk of supporting the individual citizen.

Money appears to be the only "KEY" to actually unlocking the door that actually gets things done for me, you, him and her.

I am seriously considering forming the American Citizen Party. It would be a party that works for those for "INDIVIDUALS" I mentioned above to the exclusion of every other "type" of individual, such as corporations and special interest groups.

Many do not realize that corporations came about by some convoluted manipulation of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. Don't ask me how, I never did fully understand the explanation in the documentary, but it made sense at the time, and had something to do with making former slaves "full individuals" and citizens of America entitled to all the rights and protections of the Constitution. Lawyers then went to work and figured out a way to turn companies into separate entities, thus protecting the "real" people that owned them. This is why, that when a corporation is sued the "owners" and employees are protected from the consequences of losing a lawsuit.

If anyone is interested in becoming a charter member of the "American Citizen's Party" PLEASE let me know. If enough folks show just a little bit of interest I'll really try to organize it for real, and come up with a "Mission Statement" and a platform.

However, I can tell you the first "platform" will be "The individual citizen of the United States is THE MOST IMPORTANT element of America, and ALL legislation should first and foremost benefit the individual citizen of The United States, to the exclusion of of business, industry, and any special interest group".

But hey... this is just what I believe... I might be wrong, it has happened before and I am angry about the health care bullshit coming from BOTH Democrats and Republicans. Both sides seem to be much less concerned with the health of PEOPLE than they do with the health of "The Soul Eating Bastard Industry" (aka:The Health Insurance Industry), and it is REALLY starting to piss me off! Ò¿Ó

(BTW I have found a decent spell checker for online use. Now, I'll be able to fool everyone and not appear as "stewpid" as I really am)

I saw that brief mention, but it still seems to pay lip-service to accountability in much the same way the right used to do with their pols.

I like the idea of another party, but we have long been a bi-polar country politically, so what will most likely happen is a repositioning of the political spectrum to provide for the emerging demands of the electorate. I suspect the democratic party will move further to the "left" over the next few election cycles, even while the GOP does the same thing. I will do my best to keep working toward the latter, because I think it will actually be easier than moving the democratic party further left. No one is less willing to change than the people currently in control. I suspect the democratic party will move left more in a reaction to a more centrist GOP than as a reaction to their constituents.

It may take conservatives a little longer to get there than liberals given the inherent differnces in thought processes, but I truly believe the vast majority of the grassroots has begun to move in a new direction that will only seem obvious in hindsight no matter how impossible the transition looks now.

Sadly, I see little difference between dems and repubs.

All I have to do is ask myself this.

What if an industry in this country delivered to the American and global marketplace products that brought harm similar to the harm brought to us by the financial sector?

What would be the response?

This has occurred because we have criminals running this country. Top to bottom. End of story.

Can't argue with this.

Sad thing is we have developed a codependency as a nation that keeps us begging for more crappy leadership. I suspect the side-effects of our poisonous diet of high-fructose corn syrup and cable TV make the codependency even more pronounced than it would be otherwise.

The American voter, on both sides of the aisle, have been betrayed by those they picked to protect them. Like a battered wife or an abused child, we have yet to escape from our bondage.

I've sent some scathing messages to the WH complaining to Obama that what he said during the campaign and what he's giving us are different. I'll just keep hammering him and maybe if others do the same it'll get some results.

user-pic

I think the key will be that we are all more involved now. It just make take a few election cycles before that involvement produces tangible results. I suspect members of Congress and the president hear more now from constituents than they have in decades.

DT,

Thanks JEM, DickDay, 0?0 , Donal, ThePeopleChoose, and LisaB.

Particularly to JEM - Of course I understand that Dems are a big part of the Big Money Betrayal. Of course I understand that Big Money has had a huge influence on our country and government...just like it does in every other country. However...Our Bylaws - Constitution - is not like that of every other country.

And I think, as stated above, there is a huge difference between a Dem who is leveraged into betraying us...and a Republican who never thought of doing anything BUT pulling Corporate Freight.
And there is a big difference between the Populist Impulses and Citizens who voted in a Dem....and the constituency who blindly votes in a Republican. It makes the Dem betrayal STING all the worse.

I cannot blame Dems wholly, though, for bending to the powers arrayed against them. It is basically a hopeless proposition, and it has been a very uphill fight (almost vertical) in this country for a long long time.

However, CORPORATE status is a fairly new and awesomely powerful and frightening development. Before, a very rich person had limited means of controlling EVERYTHING for much more than their lifespan. They had to have a very able, and likeminded HEIR who could keep the fortune growing and use it as wickedly and powerfully as the OLD MAN.

Corporations, on the other hand, are imbued with endless powers, immortality, and free from the corporeal bounds of the flesh.

I don't think there is any crime in labelling the Republicans as the party of CORPORATE. I stand by my initial statement, they have NEVER betrayed money...but they have betrayed everything else. Of modern Democrats, and modern Democratic principles...you can find many who did not betray their constituents and who did not bend over for the monied interests. You can also find many Dems who did not betray their constituents on every level BUT WHO DID occasionally (and usually when it counts the most) bend to the pressure of the Wealth Society we live in. I cannot bring myself to blame them wholly for the situation that was thrust upon them....a completely greedy, pay for play, corporate environment. They never stood a chance.

Again, there is a big difference between somebody who finally gave in after their arm was mostly twisted off.....and the elected Republican officials who were gleefully, wilfully doing the twisting.
