I was just watching a commercial for Lou Dobbs which reminded me... What happened to the immigration debate? Where does Sarah Palin stand? Where does McCain stand now? Will she embrace his position? Will the base embrace her if she does???

Where the hell is the press on this? Other than Lou Dobbs.

Gregory vs. McClellan: the Alito Battle

This is another Gregory classic. At least there's one journalist in the WH not willing to be a stenographer.

Santorum V. Stewart

For those that missed it, Santorum claimed not surprisingly that the ideal relationship is 1 man and 1 woman, but the best part came when Stewart asked him about the role of legislation, Santorum responded by saying that you can legislate an ideal. The part that gets me is that Santorum, while always a proponent of the extreme right, always bills himself as a traditional small government conservative. If there is anything contrary to small government conservatism, it's the idea that you should legislate according to the ideal. Again, with people like Santorum, it just depends on whose ideals you are talking about. He's a man of principle, but like many conservatives, those seem to change with the political winds.

Let the smear campaign begin

Just a few minutes ago, fmr Speaker of the House Newt Gingrrich recited the republican talking points verbatim: 1) Karl Rove wasjust "setting the record straight" about Joe Wilson's "repeated lies" about his just. Gingrich went on to claim that Wilson is "lying" about everything he's said about his trip to Niger and the actual evidence he found. Newt stated that Wilson was long in contact with the Kerry campaign and that he made contributions to the Kerry '04 ticket. Gingrich recited the idea that Wilson's reports were heavily criticized by reports from the Sen. Intelligence committee.

This is what we have: Ken Mehlman telling us that the Democrats are leading a dispicable smear campaign against Rove, whilst republican talking heads go around smearing Joe Wilson and his wife. The implication that Newt left everyone with was that Plame did in fact send Wilson and that she is just as involved in the "conspiracy" as well.
