Today.
Today, I voted for a baby-killing, crypto-muslim, socialist, arugula-munching, elitist, black radical activist.
And it felt good. It felt damned good.

I voted last week, here in Douglas County Colorado, after crossing a grass berm 120 feet from the polling station covered in McCain signs, and couldn't help thinking some of those same things. One of my family members called me a socialist. I reminded him his first comment about Palin was "she's hot" and asked which was worse...

Hmm.. I did forget foreigner, but does "tree-hugger" really have the same sting in a post-9/11 world?

DF: It is a day to be grateful, for absolutely everything -- not least of which is the TPM community.
So, please, because I am an admirer of your writing, and of Genghis, if you at Dagblog.com are going to adopt and use Garrison Keillor's tagline about Lake Woebegone: "where are the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average..." then at least put it in quotes, and attribute it, somewhere, to its original source. Don't make me use the "P" word that so plagued Joe Biden. OK?
Cheers.

I don't intend to adopt it, just to use it as a one-off. I'm making the assumption that most people will recognize it and know exactly where it comes from. I'm not a big fan of assumptions, but once a phrase or slogan has its own effect named after it I think it's fair to say that it's solidly lexical.

Not buying its "own effect", as much as I admire you and Genghis. Sorry. Are quotes so hard to type, even without attribution?

Nope, but I don't feel it's necessary here. I'm sorry if you think that qualifies as plagiarism, but I disagree.

You forgot Harvard grad. Bleah!

Hmm.. I thought that was a necessity for any card-carrying elitist. Have they altered the charter?

That's like assuming that all poor people -- black and white -- see things from the same point of view.
