Less than two weeks after his controversial departure from CNN, Lou Dobbs affirmed his intentions to run for president in 2012--"Yes is the answer," Dobbs he replied on Fred Thompson's radio show--and third-party heavyweights are right behind him. Currently, Dobbs is without a party, and though his harsh words for Obama and conservative stance on immigration have led some to believe he would run as a Republican, third-party political operatives are already wooing him. Former Sen. Dean Barkley, the Reform Party member who managed Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura's winning third-party campaign, says he's urged Dobbs to run before and thinks him "a perfect candidate for us." Bay Buchanan, who ran Pat Buchanan's 2000 presidential campaign, says the "enormous movement" for third-party candidates is even stronger now than when Pat ran, adding "I think he can win." Bill Hillsman, who worked as a message man for famed third-party gubernatorial candidates Kinky Friedman and Chris Daggett, notes that Dobbs has "an audience" and national recognition. This leaves him uniquely poised to give the two-party system a run for its money, particularly in New Jersey, where Dobbs resides and Daggett ran. Skeptics, however, warn the the Electoral College won't be working in his favor.  http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheat-sheet/?cid=bsa:topnav:cs

Here is a man who just last year achieved the rank of 5 in the Boston Phoenix List of the Unsexiest Men on the planet.

Here is a man known for his scholastic research along with the sharp journalistic proboscis extending from his massive ballooning pate:

Dobbs says "we're going to have to move into street demonstrations," "protest physically and visibly in the streets"

In recent days, on both radio and TV, CNN host Lou Dobbs has provided cover for conspiracy theorists who claim that President Obama lacks a valid birth certificate and is therefore ineligible to be president. Specifically, Dobbs has repeatedly said that Obama needs to "produce a birth certificate" and cast doubt on the birth certificate posted online by FactCheck.org. Moreover, Dobbs has claimed that "reasonable people should be interested" in the issue and that Obama has refused to put the questions to rest.

·  Dobbs says "one could argue reasonably" Obama admin. is "socialist," agrees with Kudlow that tax cuts are effective stimulus

·  Dobbs says Mehlman -- media director of "hate group" FAIR -- has "interesting views" on immigration

And along with this kind of grasp upon the truths of our day, is more than just prescient:

FLASHBACK -- Dobbs: "It's just killing the left wing in this country that they can't force CNN to fire me"

And, at the same time, he is cherished by his journalistic peers:

Lou Dobbs didn't become a TV celebrity by being stupid--crazy, sure, but not stupid. So it's hard to take seriously his remark that he may run for president. Dobbs has about as much chance of becoming president as I do of winning "American Idol."

The last time a paranoid gasbag with a grudge against Mexico ran, his name was Ross Perot...and his candidacy helped elect Bill Clinton. Lou Dobbs running in 2012? Barack Obama should be so lucky

http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/steve_chapman/2009/11/lou-dobbs-for-president-ha-ha-ha.html

And of course, ten minutes following Fathead's announcement that he might run for president someday (since he loses his radio show as soon as he announces and he just would hate to throw away ten million bucks like that) a blog appeared entitled: Loudobbsforpresident.org. :

We are excited by the recent news that Lou Dobbs may be considering a run for President of the United States or possibly for US Senate against pro-Amnesty incumbent Robert Menedez (D-NJ). We want to show our support for Lou Dobbs for President or Senate because Lou Dobbs has been loyal to the American public on tough issues such as illegal immigration, Globalism, and the economy.

Americans are sick and tired of all the failures and business as usual in Washington, DC. A Lou Dobbs run would be exciting and lift the spirits of many Americans who want real change in Washington, instead of negative changes for Americans.

Lou Dobbs has recently been targeted by anti-American groups that want Amnesty for millions of illegal aliens. ..blah blah blah blah

Please explore our site here at Lou Dobbs for President. Please consider signing up below to show your support. While we are not collecting any money, your pledge of financial support may increase Lou's chances of running. http://www.loudobbsforpresident.org/

So right off the bat, anyone who supports some other position than rounding up and deporting twelve million people is a member of an anti-American group. Anti-American, indeed!!!

And of course, great examples of American Journalism like the Wall Street Journal just love the guy:

Lou Dobbs for President? Don't laugh. After months of telling reporters that he "absolutely" would not consider leaving his highly-rated CNN show in which he crusades against free trade and illegal immigration, Mr. Dobbs posted a commentary on his Web site last week predicting a surprise new presidential candidate in 2008. The mystery candidate is an "independent populist . . . who understands the genius of this country lies in the hearts and minds of its people and not in the prerogatives and power of its elites

His playbook would be similar to that of Ross Perot in 1992, who didn't enter the presidential race until the major parties began holding their primaries but quickly shot up to 25% in many polls.

"No one, seemingly, is listening to the average-but-angry voter," notes the Boston Phoenix. "So an independent populist-style candidacy could fill a huge vacuum." Mr. Dobbs, who has written best-selling books deploring the government's "war on the middle class," would be a natural fit in this campaign playing the role of the anchorman in the 1970s movie "Network," who bellowed, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore.

Yeah, no one, seemingly, is listening to the average but angry voter. What a bunch of shite. Mule shite. Mangy mule shite for sure.

THOSE ARE THE ONLY VOICES HEARD ON TV TODAY FOR CHRISSAKES!!!!

Frankly, I would vote for Smoochy before I ever considered pulling a lever for Fathead Dobbs.

So who will be his running mate? Palin, or Bachmann? Oh, wait, they're right-wingers, so that wouldn't work...

user-pic

Lieberman is supposedly an independent.

user-pic

ACK!!!

Hmmm, then again...that will work. That will work for us Lefties.

user-pic

True, he'd work for me. But Lieberman has already run for President. Could his ego deal with dropping back to the second banana role again?

I really doubt it. We couldn't get that lucky.

Joe's only draw would be to anti-government conservatives, and Dobbs already has a good chance at that group. Dobbs needs someone to complement his (*cough*) strengths, not duplicate them.

user-pic

Well, Ross Perot pulled in a retired Admiral. I'm sure that Dobbs could locate a superfluous retired Air Force General or someone of like that. Air force because they tend to be engineers and technicians rather than leaders and politicians and would not be likely to upstage Dobbs. I'm sure that will be a real consideration for him.

Or hey! What about Pat Roberts? He's actually run for President before himself. And he has broadcasting experience, too. He'd bring his own supporters. He might be able to pull evangelicals away from Palin, and getting an evangelical was the reason McCain selected Palin. Of course, with Robers the upstaging considerations might be a problem. But he's not like Teri Hatcher who can take over a stage simply by walking onto it.

What about Fred Thompson? He has both political and show business experience, and he has also run for President. He occurs to me because of the absolute lack of danger of him upstaging Dobbs. Even if someone woke him up to run.

Dobbs has all kinds of possibilities out there for Veep.

user-pic

There is a thing about the Law & Order D.A. Thompson comes across ''reasonable'', even though he is a wing nut. Under hypnosis, old Frank would tell you that there never was 'slavery' in this country. We were just a real capitalist country without the need for this commie minimum wage crap.

Have a nice Thanksgiving Weekend Richard.

user-pic

A Capaign Ad for Dobbs is already online too.

user-pic

Please don't squeeze the birther. hahahahaha

user-pic

ACK!!!

=D

user-pic

That ad does raise a question, though. Does Dobbs draw in corporate money and support? Would the pitchman who intoned "Please don't squeeze the Charmin" work in one of Dobb's ads?

"Please don't squeeze the loo?"

Though I'm not sure why a pitchman would say it in an ad, the line does appeal to my junior high level of humor. It's funnier than Lou running for President, and that's quite ridiculous.

user-pic

I wouldn't let Dobbs walk my puppy.

I would like a third party candidate but the crowd that seems to want Dobbs to run sound like fringe thinkers and teabaggers to me.

Dobbs for president is completely delusional thinking. But hey if he runs and diffuses the power of the teabagger vote... I'd be okay with that.

user-pic

Exactly my thoughts except:

I hereby render unto you the Knightly Line of the Day Award for this here TPMCafe Site, given from all of me to all of you.

The puppy line rocks Sync. hahahaha

user-pic

Thank you kind sir:)

user-pic

Oxymoron of the 24-Hour Cycle During Which Posted:

fringe thinkers

Second place:

delusional thinkers

user-pic

A fringe thinker: An idiot with a bad hair do.

Happy Thanksgiving JN!!!!

user-pic

Understood except that thinking itself is a bit of an oxymoron because the mind produces thoughts... naturally.

The act of applied thinking or critical thinking implies one is actually applying awareness to the thinking that is happening.

One word to say two completely different things.

user-pic

That's my point.

user-pic

Excellent point, and one not often considered in the current media climate.

Anyone who wants to understand the level of crap we are facing in the current media needs to go back to the excellent book "Language in Thought and Action" by S. I. Hayakawa. The propagandists, CIA, advertisers and public Relations people hate that book because it exposes so many of their tricks for fooling us.

user-pic

I'm thinkin' he'll tag Orly Taitz or a woman with latino heritage since he is now screaming that he is really their best friend - it was all just a big misunderstanding. (And his wife is latino! hmmm.)

The good news is he'll only take away support from the right wingers, not the left!

And word is that CNN agreed to say he left on good terms and it was his choice, but we all know better, don't we!?!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

user-pic

Happy Thanksgiving Auntie!!!!

user-pic

Linda Chavez.

user-pic

Wendy. Go disinfect your typing fingers.

user-pic

Ideal ticket for looneys - a troika of Beck, Dobbs, and Palin.

user-pic

We wish them all on separate tickets though. hahahahah split up the crazies.

user-pic

Happy Thanksgiving, Arthur. Hope you know you are on my list of people I'm most thankful for...

user-pic

Oh Stilli you really bring a tear to my eye with that line.

Happy Thanksgiving

user-pic

Dick, I can't abide Lou Dobbs. While he was on CNN I would watch paint dry before subjecting myself to his drivel.

That said - I don't like the picture associated with this post. I find "the joker" disgusting when used to denegrate our President, and I find it the same when used elsewhere. We cannot, in all good conscious, cry foul and then repeat the behaviour.

user-pic

This was a bit of irony published in Esquire (see link). I was publishing it anew for irony's sake.

This man is out for himself, siding with birthers, claiming socialism (because communism is passe), playing three card monte with the state of things pretending that he is for the working man.

But I understand your reticence. I really do.

Happy Thanksgiving Missy.

user-pic

And the right wing can claim their own reasons.

Wrong is wrong - irony not withstanding.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Dick.

user-pic

Moly Holy, dick. Was it in an alternate universe i thought i read last night from you and your emerging thoughts on the President? I was in a tear to get things done last night, so only scanned it, but there doesn't seem to be a diary about it on your blogsite. Is my brain more wonky than usual? (Did i imagine it, i'm asking, with a mite of trepidation?) Uh-oh.
Happy thanksgiving, by the way.

user-pic

Happy Thanksgiving Wendy. You have a happy day.

Let's see. The last blog was blurred, not thinking clearly but I announced it early. My segue's were weak but fun. Mostly about a grown man's movie.

user-pic

How 'bout Liz Cheyney for the veep? She is pure enough for the limbic brain mob. And the name of the new party could be the Lou-ney Party. Their rallies would be Louney Tea Parties. O, The Joy!
To continue your fairy tale: The Louneys crush both politcal party machines, defang the department of war, and send the Wall Stree lobbiests running with just a whiff of grapeshot. Yeppers, Bambi vs. Godzilla.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

user-pic

hahha The Lou-ney Party. Oh Tao, I will be using this one. Sometime in the coming months.

Happy Thanksgiving to you.

user-pic

That is so good! A winner of a name!

user-pic

Top flight, Tao.

Your name also always makes me rethink what ever I was thinking, then try to reexperience it without thinking. But then, I'm a student of the I Ching which contains elements of Taoism.

user-pic

The problem with you, DD is that you hold back how you really feel -- especially in the titles of your blogs! Come on; open up. You can trust us!

user-pic

Yeah I am really working on all of these things in therapy. hahaha

Happy Thanksgiving CVille

user-pic

Between his glowing white teeth and Bachman's creepy eyes, they would be a duo that no one could watch without reflecting their images in a bucket of water, like with an eclipse.

user-pic

LOL!

user-pic

CVille, Am I mistaken or does Doug Hoffman in NY 23 also have Bachman eyes?

Hoffman also has a twitchy set of head movements as he speaks, which I have not noticed in Bachman. But I seem to recall similar characteristics in Katherine Harris, ex-Sec of State, Florida and ex-Representative.

Those eyes really are something, though, aren't they?

user-pic

It's his teeth that I fixated on -- they're gross! But now that you mention it, he has that same zombie-like eye thing going as MB.

user-pic

Almost midnight. This was a fine day. Have y'all seen this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSDj7bjAv2s&feature=related

user-pic

This great Tao. A good take on the media and the judiciary in 17 seconds. ha

Have a nice Thanksgiving Weekend Tao.

user-pic

He is such a loon he actually makes Sarah look reasonable by comparison.

Enjoy.

user-pic

Hey Tim, good to see again.

No, nobody I know of could make Palin seem reasonable. hahaha
