REAPING WHAT YOU SOW
This is supposedly the basic nature of God's Justice:
GALATIANS 6: 7-9 (KJV) :
7: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8: For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9: And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.![]()
Do we in fact reap what we sow? I underline often that I am a member of the undeserving poor, I am. Some of us are just reaping what we have sewn.
But I am expanding the concept to national issues. Issues of the day:
On Friday night, "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace was a guest on Bill O'Reilly to complain about President Obama's decision to skip Fox News when he makes the rounds of the Sunday news programs to push health care reform.
Ironically, Wallace was the one to accuse the Obama administration of "childishness," saying: "They are the biggest bunch of crybabies I have dealt with in my 30 years in Washington."
Wallace expressed surprise that the administration chose a Spanish-language network ("Univision!") over Fox News and looked back fondly on his treatment by the Reagan administration. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/19/snubbed-by-obama-fox-news_n_292254.html
Sometimes I come across a line in the real world, sans any satire, that can make me grin ear to ear for a full day. Chrissy mentions his 30 years in Washington and we are, of course, to assume 30 years of fine professional journalism. WIPE THAT FUCKING SMIRK OFF OF YOUR SISSY BOY'S FACE. Ha!!
Let's see, during the last full term of George W. Bush, how many appearances did he make on MSNBC? How many is that Chrissy you sissy? I CAN'T HEAR YOU.
If a dog snarls at me and then snaps at me (I have not been bitten by a dog since I was four), I stay away from that dog. I do not hate the dog. I just do not spend a lot of time with it. If I see it walking down the street a keep a fair distance from it.
Here is a short run down of how Fox has treated its new Commander in Chief:
But seriously folks. I mean Fox has organized two teabagging get to gethers, openly called My President a Muslim fascist, Black Racist, Communist, Socialist, Liar, .....
I guess taking Univision over Fox is a pretty good idea. Especially with the numbers Obama reaps in the Hispanic Community.
And does anyone think that Univision is going to give President Obama a pass?
Does anyone believe that monkey face Gregory is going to pitch soft balls?
Do you think staphanpoopalos us going to just joke around tomorrow?
But there are other applications of the sense contained in the quote from Galatians:
LIMBAUGH: My cat -- here's how you can get fooled. My cat comes to me when she wants to be fed. I have learned this. I accept it for what it is. Many people in my position would think my cat's coming to me because she loves me. Well, she likes me, and she is attached, but she comes to me when she wants to be fed. And after I feed her -- guess what -- she's off to wherever she wants to be in the house, until the next time she gets hungry. She's smart enough to know she can't feed herself. She's actually a very smart cat. She gets loved. She gets adoration. She gets petted. She gets fed. And she doesn't have to do anything for it, which is why I say this cat's taught me more about women, than anything my whole life. But we put voices in their mouths.
Here are just some snippets from rush's show that kind of define his attitude toward the better sex:
- "He's trying to figure out how he can get involved in the deal down there at Duke where the lacrosse team...supposedly, you know, raped, some, uh, hos." [3/31/06]
- "You know, there's a crisis of young man-boy education in the schools. And they did this on purpose, to eliminate male competition in the work force. This is part of feminazi grand plan." [5/21/08]
- "Classic example of the castrati, the new castrati. Jack Carter is -- has been castrated by the feminization of this culture since he grew up." [2/21/06]
- "I just heard Erin Burnett sounding a little wifey. ... Well [she was] whining." [10/23/07]
I do not need more documentation here for this asshat. I mean he was crying that women just do not seem to like him. The king of the Feminazi criers, wonders why women despise him. There is hope here for all of us really. A greater percentage of white women voted for Obama than white men.
So far of course neither George W. Bush nor Dick Cheney or Rummy have reaped what they have sown.
We shall see.

Paybacks sure are hell.

The American people elected them to office, our Country will reap what they sowed.
Gore said as much when he said, the people vote against their own self interest.
Our country could be likened to a grape vine, through the electoral process we tend to the vine to produce good fruit, The American people tended the vine and got exactly what it wanted
Bad Fruitage. Bitter wine
or is it we whine bitterly
The American people reaped what it sowed, or didn't prune

(Luke 6:43-45) . . .“For there is not a fine tree producing rotten fruit; again there is not a rotten tree producing fine fruit. 44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. For example, people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they cut grapes off a thornbush. 45 A good man brings forth good out of the good treasure of his heart, but a wicked man brings forth what is wicked out of his wicked [treasure]; for out of the heart’s abundance his mouth speaks.
The people of America beleived they could get goodness from liars? Whose fault is that

You really hit at a truth here REsistance. When I used to get so angry at Bush and Cheney I had to pinch myself and remember...
We live in a democracy. Oh the Supreme Court appointed them for the first term, but it was not like the tally was not close....
It is ironic, that now the other side does not wish to let go.

It is simple refusal to accept democracy. That is the essential nature of conservatism, is it not?
The source of government legitimacy they accept is that God gave power to the social elites, not to the people. The people are wrong when they do not accept this (God-given) fact.
They'll even say that among themselves, but not in public where is would become a political weapon used against them. They are very good at saying one thing in public for political purposes and another in private to justify among themselves what they do. Look at Steele's complaint that Obama has asked NY's governor Patterson to not run for election as governor because he is Black.

St. Paul carried a lot of venom for the wealthy. The wealthy imprisoned him, mocked him, and routinely impeded his evangelicism. Yet he wrote, preached, and cultivated a rebel spiritual movement that eventually overtook the Roman Empire.
At the same time, his spiritual movement begot the Dark Ages, the Inquisition, the Medicis, and a host of other atrocities.
So he too reaped what he has sewn.
I know that most of us--hell, all of us want instant karma. I have imagined Rush being held accountable, taken off the air, shunned, and ridiculed.
But I yield.
The reason is that Rush is simply a sellout. What he says is the voice of his paymasters. The only freedom he has is to add the texture of his neurosis on the corporate agenda. A long time ago, he saw that the path to success was paved with the intention to fuck over his fellow man. So long as he is able to make the corporate interest his audience's interest, he will rake in the cash. All the dittos he has ever receives are hollow, because he is a hurdy gurdy monkey. And he will go to his early grave having already savored the joy of having sold his soul.
Thus he lives the life of a pretan.

I so like the notion that Rush's show is simply an outlet for venting about why he can't get laid.
Here's a suggestion: go for a run, lay off the narcotics and don't say mean things. Instantly his appeal will increase (definitely helped by the fact that he's rich).
I am still in shock that Daryn Kagan (former-CNN anchor) ever dated him. eeew.

Yeah, and they each have a coterie of supporters close by who tell them that the opposition they face is not something that is justified by what they have said and done. Instead it is something caused by outside enemies.
Limbaugh, Palin, Hannity, Beck and others are all actively searching for and attempting to destroy those outside enemies who are thwarting them. For them to accept that the opposition they face was something they are causing themselves would drive them to depression, drugs or other self-destructive behavior. So in self-defense they search out more enemies and attack them with even greater vigor. Making money just justifies their actions since, as conservatives, they tend to measure what is right by how much is paid for it.

The Smother Brothers began a show where there appeared conseutively a Parisian cop, a NY cop, a Moscow cop and a Beijing cop...
One by one each cop was complaining about protesters and indicating that it was outside agitators who were responsible for fomenting the demonstrations.
Then Dicky and Tommy came on and said:
HI, WE RE THE OUTSIDE AGITATORS.
When the wall came down, right wing pundits could not stop calling members of the opposition commies for some time. Even ten years later they would stop in mid sentence.
The right needs enemies. They need outside agitators to blame.

That makes me think. How much would you have to pay me to BE Rush Limbaugh? To have to go to an off-shore island to get my jollies, to have a personality a cat can't stand (cats are very discriminating--I know, having two myself), having to look at that mug first thing in the morning, and know that it's out there leading my down the street all day long, to wonder which is larger, my double chin or my double belly, to have to caress myself soaping down in the shower...I could go on, but I think my keyboard would melt.
How much would you have to pay me to BE Rush Limbaugh? There ain't that much money in the universe, last time I counted it.

Haha.
No... A Pretan is a "hungry ghost." In Tibetan Buddhism, a lifeform that has committed gross sins of greed/gluttony is condemned to wander in the Pretan realms as an entity with bottomless unsatisfied hunger. They are often portrayed as having necks as long as a redwood but as thin around as a grain of rice, or with a belly the size of a stadium. They are on karmic level beyond the hell realms.

Thanks, zip. Good explanation. Rush sounds like the prototype for a "pretan".
What is someone called that commits gross sins of absolute lies and mis-characterizations that are presented as truths? Or maybe someone that misuses a forum that could be used for good and instead uses it to promote evil?
September 20, 2009 2:13 AM | Reply | Permalink
What I appreciate about the Tibetan faith is their belief that human life is spiritually precious. None of the other realms afford the opportunity for enlightenment the way human life can. Therefore, a wasted human life is tragic, but a life lived in active opposition to dharma is the worst a soul can perform.
Those souls visit the hell realms. Their stay is extended over a period of several thousand to several million lifetimes. There is the hot hell, the cold hell, the cutting hell, the hell of blisters... The description in their texts of these places is gruesome. The Tibetan Rinpoches and Lamas claim to visit these places and redeem these lost souls through compassion. So the imagery is delivered in the first person. It is some of the best writing on the planet in terms of poetry and symbol.
Rather than fantasize about Rush's spiritual destination, I look at him in the here and now. I see someone incapable of experiencing pleasure and joy. He is already in hell because he is cut off from the sublime.

As usual, Dickon, you give me a lot to think about.
First and foremost, is it sew or sow?
Secondly, I'm shocked Rush has a cat.
Some say Men are like Mars, Women Like Venus. Me, I've always thought Men are like Dogs, Women like Cats.
I can see Rush with a dog. Except he'd probably hire someone to walk it.
I can't see him with a cat, but based on your quote, I can totally sympathize with his cat. I'd take the food and run too, if I was the cat.
I myself adore men. I get along better with them than I do other women, for the most part. Women can sometimes be too moody, catty, persnickety, and downright territorial.
Men strike me as being more open and jolly and willing to talk about general things like sports and beer.
Am I generalizing? You betcha! And also!
But then, so is 95% of America lately.
Which may be our problem.

Lisb, I very much agree with you.
Let me throw my opinion in about why I think it works that way.
There is a distinction between male and female culture in America, and I think it has to do with whether one focuses on what sociologists call primary relationships (unique and close personal relationships) versus what sociologists call secondary relationships (relationships with others in which you treat them by accepted cultural rules rather than according to your unique personal characteristics, personal disclosures and the rules of behavior you work out between you over time.)
Primary relationships are what you get in a family and with close intimates. They are the result of knowing someone for a long time. Secondary relationships are what you have with coworkers, customers and neighbors in a city with a lot of mobility. The distinction between family relationships and business relationships becomes obvious, and I am not surprised to find that the female and male cultures would tend to treat the two types of relationship differently. It would fit with a culture for nurturers and a different culture for business people and traders.
The relationship between men and dogs is based on pack behavior. Dogs have that behavior instinctively, and I can tell you from experience that it is exactly what the Army teaches from the first day you put on a uniform. You accomplish your mission and you look out for everyone around you. After being ambushed the first thing you do after the bullets stop flying is check on everyone around you. Since America has been such a militarized society for so long I am unsurprised that the male culture here has such elements built in. (I suspect the end of the draft has made a difference.)
Dogs are very similar in behavior to men because they are pack hunters. Cats are not so similar because they are solitary hunters. Cats follow different rules.
At least this is the explanation I have worked out to explain what I think I have observed. The stuff about primary and secondary relationships is new to me recently, and I am surprised and excited at how much that distinction explains what seems to be going on around me in human culture that I was never before aware of.

And does anyone think that Univision is going to give President Obama a pass?
I'll be surprised (and maybe a big disappointed) if Univision, with its enormous Mexican-American audience, forgets to ask the President why it's so important to exclude illegal immigrants from potentially life-saving healthcare coverage.
We've just read of the recent study suggesting that 45,000 of us die every year because of the lack of insurance. Tha nummber is very likely to include one or more thousand of those illegals. Penalties already exist for immigration law violations, but Univision might want to know why it's necessary to add the death penalty.

All this time alone

It was a little of something else.
I hope
that you lose it all.
Cause you were the one
That made me feel better
In such a fucked up bitter way.
I don't understand what you say.
All this time you've known
Such condescending tone
Taste the tears of men
Did it make you feel better than?

'Fox News?' is basically a theatrical production. Kind of reminds me of old time religious scammers, snake oil salesmen.
They have flat out lied consistently about what the president has said etc. There is absolutely no reason he should give them more material or dignify them with his presence. They are beneath him... way, way beneath.
I can't verify this buy I think Limbaugh is the anti-christ(okay, I'm not a christian and don't believe in the anti-christ but based on the fiction I've read, he is in the top 10 to qualify for the role).
Cat's are smart, why would his cat want to hang out with the likes of him? Really surprised the cat sticks around but he's probably got a huge mansion of a house and all the food she can eat.
As to the criminals of the W administration, I hope they do real time but it may be that only future disclosures, books, etc will assign them the shame that they deserve. Our AG sucks!

Here's why Rush is turning into an even bigger sexist asshole, besides the fact he's probably bitterly paying a ton of money, not a little of which is tied to keeping them quiet, to his ex-wives.
Men in most age demographics really took it in the shorts over the last 8 years. My guess for why women haven't faired as badly is that in most female dominated occupations wages were already at rock bottom. I think the big jump in women's pay in the 55-64 range is from all that education they continue to get and the benefits of feminism finally bearing fruit as the first wave rises to the top of their fields.
As Rush turns off the relatively (and I do mean relatively) intelligent members of his female audience who picks up the slack? Watch BillO, Beck and the rest of FOX lay off the anti-choice stuff and focus on the more unisex aspects of their hate agenda.

I do not think that 'family values' people give a damn about the female work force.
I hope the demagogues continue on their present course.
Still, only 11% of the whites in Mississippi voted for Obama. An awful lot of women voting against their own interest.
Thank you so much for these stats. Surprising really.
September 20, 2009 2:39 PM | Reply | Permalink
If the right ever hopes to regain power they're going to need female votes and women do care about their own wages. So they can't be as blatant about their sexism as Rush. Rush doesn't care about that and wants the freedom to not be the face of the party. He sees angry, aggrieved, unattached white men as an audience he can plumb lucratively for a long, long time. FOX as the GOP's main propaganda outfit OTH can't afford to focus too much on demonizing economic gains made by women, especially women with the cash to contribute to GOP candidates. Thought it would be nice for our side if they did. I think the religious right has little to do with this aspect of it. Keep an eye on this Dick. You watch more of that crap than I do. I'd like to see if my theory here is borne out. In fact I'd like someone to prove me wrong by sending that chart to every FOX News producer they can find and see if we can stir up some sexist outrage over there. Think they'd fall for it?

It's fine with me if people reject policies put forth by Obama or anyone upon factual basis. But when their dissent is founded upon lies and distortions, that their so called leaders allow to exist as fact, well, that's just (simply put) wrong! On too many levels to list.
And yet, this is the group who rants about morality and Christian beliefs. If the outcome wasn't so horrific, I would LOL and dismiss them out of hand for their 'audacity'.

Well, i read the Rev. stuart hannold's clumn, and yeas, he is quoting the galatians 6: 7-9. He gets that it a trick of the devil to wear us down, so we give up. He warns that what we sow should be spiritual, not fleshy. Good point. He says that he and his wife have been ministering and praying and healing for the past 16 years, wanting the Lord to come down and manifest in healing and transformation. It is unclear if this is the first time, but he says the story will knock our socks off.
The Lord told him to go to an appeal hearing for a guy in the jail (he is also the jail chaplain, besides being the chamber of commerce guy). He says the guy had been sentenced to twenty years (not for what crime), and has served three years. The guy is now on fire for Jesus, and when he (Stuart) was speaking, something happened, and God came down and started doing the talking. He reports that the Judge, the other inmates, the guards, everyone in the court room started weeping. (He didn't mention the attorneys.) Everyone could feel the Lord's presence in that room. The judge said that the man had served enough time, and she would see about probation for him.
Now that is Stuart's "Reap in due season if you don't give up" story. It knocked my socks off, but i would love to be able to talk to people who were in the room.
The only female judge i know is a district court judge, she is great, but i'm having a hard time picturing her weeping. We were in her court many times with our daughter, and i can say she was empathetic, but while i cried sometimes, she didn't. Now i'm not trying to say my tears had anything to do with grace or transformation, i'm just saying it's hard to picture.
So. Whaddya think, dick?
