Rushed!!! (Amended)
Lush had told his radio audience, (mostly made up of angry people with guns who do not like black people, Democrats, gays or people who wasted the best years of their in college) to go to Denver and riot. Turn over cars, swear at police officers and burn Muslim flags...or something of that order.
Now the law is hazy here. When Glenn Beck said that he would pay for the bullet that killed Roger Moore, well that was a terrorist act under Federal statute. But telling people to riot and turn over cars at a political convention, without being willing to pay for the rioters air fare or at least promise to post bail for them after they were arrested, well those set of facts just make it harder on the grand jury to bring in an indictment.
Rush indicated his displeasure with the republican leadership. McConnell and Boehner are not putting up a proper fight to the New Administration's proposals. He feels that McConnell and Boehner are calling for all good republicans to bend over, grab their ankles and....well you can imagine the rest.
I recently was in Miami and walked into the men's room at a local steak house, and there was Rush, stark naked, bent over and grabbing his ankles. Needless to say, it was not a pretty sight and I immediately checked into a local mental health facility for observation. Now conservatives had accused the Obamas of communicating in a secret code by fist bumping on the stage just prior to one of his speeches.
I had caught Rush in a position whereby he was going to engage in another sort of fist bumping--so to speak-- but my therapist said that I should not think of this matter any longer just for my own mental health. So I have ceased not delving into this matter any further.
Suffice it to say that Rush has the opinion that if the republicans stand up to the New Administration and refuse to cooperate with any new legislation by the Democrats, that his greatest dream may be fulfilled.
Lately, Rush has told his radio audience that he hopes the New President fails. The best thing that could happen to this country would be 35% unemployment, the complete collapse of the banking system, shut down of all mass transit, and a couple of really good hurricanes.
Then the voters would understand the errors of their ways, and vote the republicans back into office. The Rush could tell his radio audience the he hopes the new republican majority would bring a new era of Truth, Justice and the American Way.
But more moderate voices on the right have also been heard lately.
In The Huffington Post | Rachel Weiner | January 26, 2009 at 09:21 AM, it was noted that:
Bill Bennett disagreed with fellow conservative talking head Rush Limbaugh, who said that he wants President Obama "to fail." On CNN's "State of the Union," Bennett said, "The locution 'I want him to fail' is not what you say the first week the man's been inaugurated ... the rhetoric could be improved."
Later
the Reverend Bennett, while repasting with a two foot long submarine
sandwich and playing slots at the local casino, noted that the
republicans should give the New President at least two weeks before
indicating their hopes that he would fail. That way, at a later date,
the minority party can at least say they gave the New Administration a
chance. After that it would be time to pray to the Lord Our Savior and
ask Him to bring forth some good Hurricanes and maybe even a
magnificent dust bowl to boot.
President Obama, called on the
republicans to quit listening to Rush, and to cooperate with him in
repairing the economic system which is in a crash mode. By cooperating
all Americans could hope to see a better day.
Rush Limbaugh hit back at Obama Monday, turning around the president's criticism and saying Obama would like to see him fail.
"He's obviously more frightened of me than he is Mitch McConnell," the conservative radio host added. "He's more frightened of me, then he is of say, John Boehner, which doesn't say much about our party."
Well, Rush is missing the point here as my own experience demonstrated to me and the mental health unit that retrieved me just at the last moment. The picture of Lush, bent over and grabbing his ankles really would scare the hell out of anyone. Including our brave New President. The picture of Mitch McConnell bent over and holding his ankles is more in the nature of comedy. Its more like the difference between the movie Frankenstein and the movie Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein.
Limbaugh also attacked Obama's claims that he intends to govern in a bipartisan fashion. "Now this is the great unifier," he said. "This is the man who's going to unify everybody and usher in a new era of bi-partisanship and love."
And I think that we could all agree that the last thing Rush would ever like to see would be unity in this country and the ushering in of a new era of bi-partisanship and love.

Agreed. Amity is bad for ratings.

Stilli, just think of the republicans all lost, with no home. All they can do is get on cable and keep saying tax and spend, tax and spend.
If you wish to get that fat f out of your mind, read my other blog.

Rush L. Good grief. What an ego. If anyone poked a hole in it, it would take 40 haz mat teams to clean up the mess.
I can't remember...did RL have the same response when Collin Powell suggested republicans stop listening?

No Flower when General Powell endorsed President Obama, Rush just said he had to because he was black and that it did not mean anything.
Now Rush talks rubbish three hours a day five days a week. I am sure he threw garbage on the General many times.
By the way thank you for pointing out the fist bump. But republicans were calling it 'fisting' and it palyed on the cable news shows. For shock value.
But this works better.

Yes, he did throw garbage at the General...I've just been reading a little about it.
BTW, I did not mean to edit you with the fist thing...by the time I realized I should just mind my own business and tried to comment to that effect, you were already amending. Like you pointed out, it has raised quite a ruckus. I think your remedy works to the better, though. :o) But, next time I will just shut up.

"there was Rush, stark naked, bent over and grabbing his ankles."
How would you know if you were looking at his face?
I think what is going on for Rush is illustrated in my mangling of an old indigenous peoples saying, "nothing is more dangerous than an old boar when he knows it's his last hunt"
I do find him an old bore.
sometimes I am ashamed of myself [but not too often]
I will never be an apologist for Rush but I must say that sometimes I feel really sorry for him. I can't even imagine the lonely hell in which he must live. He probably has never connected with another human being in any meaningful way, connected in the way most of us do when we thank the person who checks us out at the supermarket.
I mean who is going to be one of the 12 people it will take to carry his casket. Without being paid for it, that is.
I think he would be really pissed off if he knew there were people who feel sorry for him.

Mage, the way things are going since Rush lost that health/exercise nut as a girl friend, they are going to have to find fifteen or twenty people to carry that casket.

That is just it. I remember watching that part and really feeling sorry for Scrooge. If only Rush could get that same kind of glimpse into his future.

Well, I like to believe in redemption, that anyone is capable of it. I don't have high hopes for the foaming radical right--but you never know. I love the fact that Obama thinks there is salvation, even for them. That must drive them crazy, because without hate, what is there? Nothing left for them to define themselves. If he can take that away from them, what a victory for humanity.

How did I miss this all day long, dd? But just when I needed the chuckle (and the err... wake up!), I found this on the rec list at The Muck (thanks to the Mucky description in your post, I am awake and enlightened!)
I have never listened to the man, whose name I will not mention right now, as I'd rather not have to put my brain in gear to find an appropriate pseudonym. But my brother-in-law does listen to the pseudonym. And spreads his drivel - when they visit (from far away!).
I'm glad you survived the trauma and lived to tell us about it. What will some people not do just to get attention? (not you, dd; the pseudonym)

Hi TheraP! I don't pay any attention to Rush but I have stayed in touch with my childhood physician. She was a family friend as well as a pediatrician well ahead of her time. I consulted her when my boys were born and wrote her frequently. She was my role model--I went into pediatric genetics initially. Turns out she loves Rush--listens to him every day. This disconnect was jolting to me. I have not known what to do with this information. When my dad died and she came to the funeral, I didn't know how to receive her. I still love and admire her, but how??? Rush?? How???? Silly, yes? But, the fact that she listened to Rush and admired him was too much for me. It's hard to lose a role model. I still call her and send her notes but I don't get this.

I guess I need to amend the comment above. Those who relate to the pseudonym's regular listeners are also hereby granted my professional assistance too.
What a sad thing to lose a role model! Clearly her medical training did not equip her in some areas. :)

I guess. Her medical training occurred in the 1950s. She was probably the only woman in her class. Who knows what damage that did. She was always so gentle, so kind, that's why her love of Rush just blew me away. Thanks for the TheraP!!!

Now let's back up a minute here. WTF does Glenn Beck have against Roger Moore? I didn't particularly like him as James Bond but c'mon, the guy doesn't deserve a friggin wingnut fatwa on his ass! How is anything a failure when your making $400 million thru 2016? If he can obtain pity for those wages, then he is a genius, a ego-maniacal, mealy-mouthed, teller of lies, genius.
