Ignorance may be bliss, after all

Those poor saps who were gulled by Obama's campaign promises of transparency are now outraged by his recent actions.
But here's something that is, in a way, worse than anything Bush ever dreamed of: Remember Obama's promises to have 'dot.gov' websites where you could see where your tax dollars were going? He has kept that promise- with one catch-You may have your civil liberties violated while you learn about your government!

But this is reassuring:

'The classified NSA system, known as Tutelage, has the ability to decide how to handle malicious intrusions -- to block them or watch them closely to better assess the threat, sources said. It is currently used to defend military networks.

The database for the program would also contain feeds from commercial firms and DHS's U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team, administration officials said.

"We're looking for malicious content, not a love note to someone with a dot-gov e-mail address," a senior Bush administration official said. "What we're interested in is finding the code, the thing that will do the network harm, not reading the e-mail itself."'

Don't you feel better now?

From wapost link:

Under a classified pilot program approved during the Bush administration.....that would search for and block computer codes designed to penetrate or otherwise compromise networks.

When I used a 'civilian government network system' during the Dubya years, all TPM pages were blocked but I could open 16 windows of www.rushlimbaugh.com, including his store, his 'send money to a drug addict (him) as a way to support the troops', his transcripts, his subscription pages etc. I guess this monitoring system which Bush started thought Josh was a threat (to Republicans).
