How Many Amendments Can an Attorney General Break ?
We knew Michael Mukasey was poised to violate the actual body of the Constitution itself, when, during his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, he would not condemn the use of torture, which violates Article VI (we are bound by treaties we have entered into, namely, the Geneva Conventions). So, we knew full well that our farce of a Judiciary Committee was going to replace one oath-breaking AG with another.
Now, we hear that he is going to embark on racial profiling. This violates the Fourth Amendment, because it sanctions unwarranted searches; the Fifth Amendment, violating due process; and the Fourteenth Amendment, which guarantees equal protection of the laws to all citizens.
I also recall that there are actually several amendments that, as far as anyone can know (this Administration is veiled in secrecy), have not been violated by Mr. Mukasey.
Anyone care to speculate on what comes next?
