Baucus: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Baucus. What a dumbass. It's broke, fix it already.
After how many months of hearings, he still doesn't understand the basics of health care in America, acts like every new proposal is something wondrous out of the blue. How do these incompetent know-nothings rise in power, and why is this our "majority representation"? Sad times indeed.

Well said, peanut.

What an arrogant HC shill he is...Played right into the hands of the repubs and his corporate donors...He is over!

If the guy wanted to have a legacy, he's not going to like it. But if he prefers money to reputation, he's all set!

Well, don't pretend to fix it either. Don't pass anything if it's not going to actually reform the system. Like a used car dealer, he wants to put a little sawdust in the transmission just to get us off the lot and off his masters' backs.

Well, if you look at campaign funding, this particular fool rose to power on the insurance lobby checkbook.

Good point, Rowan. His activities serving as goaltender for the insurance industry really don't make him a fool, does it? It just goes to show that even the most craven whores are not inherently foolish. I hope he chokes on his money.

I truly don't know how these folks can live with themselves. It takes a kind of split mind that has to be pathological.

Don't let your own Senators get away with blaming Baucus. Hold them accountable for the outcome. It doesn't matter what pretty words they say or how many meaningless votes they cast. If they don't deliver, throw the bums out!

Sounds like a repub to me. But Bluebell has a real point here.

Here's what I have to deal with in Montana. Friends of Max Baucus sent me this tripe:
"

After nearly two years of work, Senator Baucus' landmark health care legislation was voted out of the Senate Finance Committee with broad support yesterday. After the vote, leading Democrats from across Montana offered their praise for the bill which will lower costs and improve health care quality for people across the state and for Senator Baucus' efforts.

Praise From Leading Montana Democrats

United States Senator Jon Tester:

"No one has worked harder for health care reform than Max, and this is an impressive achievement. Max always puts Montana first, and Montanans know that we can count on him to look out for rural America and our seniors. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Max the Senate Finance Committee for their progress on the vital effort to reform the health insurance industry for America's working families. This bipartisan vote is a big step forward. I have said from the beginning of this debate that we must pass health care reform because the status quo is the worst option for working families. We need reform in order to reduce costs, preserve patient choice, emphasize prevention and improve access, especially for rural America. As the bill moves to consideration by the full Senate, I am confident the final product will strengthen what currently works in our nation's health care system and begin to fix what is broken."

Montana Democratic Party Chairman Jim Elliott:

"Max helped move Montana and the nation in the right direction today by passing a bi-partisan health care bill. His bill is a framework for reform that will keep health care costs from continuing to skyrocket and will guarantee that no Montanan will be denied health care insurance for any reason."

Speaker of the Montana House, Rep. Bob Bergren (D-Havre):

"Thanks to Max's leadership in the Senate Finance Committee, we've taken another step toward meaningful health care reform for Montanans."

Sen. Kim Gillan (D-Billings):

"This bill is balanced and based on common sense. It helps get cost under control while improving quality. I applaud Max's leadership in bringing people together to put our state first, which is why this bill will help every person who calls Montana home."

Sen. Dave Wanzenried (D-Missoula):

"This bill is good for Montana. Max is working tirelessly to move a bill though the Senate that will improve the quality of health care and lower health care costs."

Rep. Jon Sesso (D-Butte):

"Getting a health reform bill out of the Finance Committee is a big step forward. Now, we'll get to see how Max's piece fits with the other bills in play. The road gets tougher from here, and I remain hopeful that the final legislation passed by Congress will produce meaningful, positive changes for Montanans."

Rep. Kendall Van Dyk (D-Billings):

"I'm confident that Max will pass the best bill possible to lower health care "

What? Are they all on dope?

Baucus proved to be the very best legislative goaltender the Insurance Industry could have bought. Virtually NOTHING got through his committee that didn't have the stamp of approval from the lobbyists who kept him on an extremely tight leash.

Boy, Montana is most certainly a pretty barren void if they reach this far to lionize "heroes" like this. In most traditional tales from the Old West, scum like him would have been rode out of town.

This was meant in response to DKC/Feral Cat
