Week of September 21, 2008 - September 27, 2008

Now that Big Pharma is turning towards supporting Democrats, will we take them off the evil industry list? Can we go back and erase those comments?
Oh, and now that Warren Buffett, a big Obama supporter, is taking a huge chunk of Goldman Sachs, $5 billion worth, are they off the evil banking list, or do they at least earn a by this round?
Tell me quick, I'm heading on the talk show circuit, will be touring the Marianas and outer Aleutians, and need to know what this week's talking points are.
And what's up with clean coal? Yea or nay?

Apropos of nothing. I just felt like writing it, that feeling of dreaming of being rich and special amongst a wasteland of gray.
And while everyone around seems to be peddling everlasting gobstoppers, I'm quite happy here eating my one small corner piece of chocolate a year. And please turn down the heat - we mustn't use so much coal.
G'night, Grandpa, g'night Grandma.

Since it seems to be an irrelevant domain, a bit of rebranding and takeover might be in store - $700 billion? Not so fast. We can wait 120 something days to deal with the new grownups in office. No need to buy fast, regret later. We've been living with the Social Security and Medicare "crises" how long, and we ain't burnt up yet. So how about we put this one down on simmer for a few months, and kinda let the folks who'll be around to deal with it decide how they're going to deal.
Oh, and WTF's this about keeping around Paulson and Robert Gates? Oh well, nothing surprises me anymore. Le plus ça change, le plus c'est la même chose.

Heh heh heh. Remember that little think called the Social Security "Crisis"? The one that was so terrible, that we had to debate whether retirement age would go up, the one that conservatives kept somehow lumping Medicare in with (the real disaster), and then the one that Bush stapled the ridiculous trillion dollar prescription drug benefit onto?
They're saying this one is only $700 billion, which means it's really about $1.5 trillion knowing the way they do accounting.
So how much would $700 billion help that supposed Social Security "crisis" if we weren't solving another completely avoidable "crisis"? And when exactly will the American people fire the people who cause these "crises" instead of paying out the nose to paper over the stanch and hiring the incompetents' BFFs as replacements? Are we still in our "post-partisan" disbelief stage, or are we allowed to call the opposition "thieving idiots" yet? And is the American public still tired of all the fighting, or can it rise out of apathy to finally raise a stink against the people who deserve it?
Just a few questions.
