9/12 and the Birther, Deather, Racist Nonsense
Well, 9/12 came and went, and to their credit the teabaggers were peaceful. Ill-informed, paranoid, wrong, largely elderly and white, but peaceful.
They are saying there were 1.5 to 2 million in number -- even going so far as to lie about what ABC News actually reported about crowd size. The DC Fire Department unofficially estimates the crowd was more like 50-60K. But you know what a bunch of libruhls THEY are...
They say it's not about Obama and racism, but about big government and socialism.
Here's how they could convince me that is true. Given that the crowd was largely middle-aged to elderly and incredibly white (the darkest face in the crowd was the photoshopped images of Obama on the various handmade, misspelled posters), a huge pile of burning Medicare and Medicaid cards would have gone a long way to prove how much they hate "socialized medicine."
But they had their day. They didn't do any damage or hurt anyone. So now they will all disperse back to their homes, cash their social security or unemployment checks (socialism!), run to the pharmacy to get their Medicare prescriptions refilled (socialism!) and bitch about that evil black man in the White House who wants to make sure ALL Americans enjoy the same stuff THEY have.

What does THIS have to do with Health Care or "Recapturing the Spirit of 9/12?"

Well I see you are one to quickly point the finger and say racist. Maybe if it ever occured to you they just dislike Obama. I didn't vote for Obama but I wish I did I didn't vote at all and so far he has earned my vote for the next round. I see that you have it etched into your soul to see things as racist that might have never been intended to be racist at all. For example sign that says I work hard so Obama voters don't have to...you said "Because Negroes are lazy" Umm if negroes were the only ones to vote for obama he wouldn't be president right now, not by a longshot. Some of those signs I agree the people are miss informed but you have no room to call them racist they just probley don't like Obamas policys. It doesnt mean they don't like people of Color. Im sorry but I just don't like people like you that allways assume white people are racist.

You have totaly miss interpreted these peoples signs they are talking about Obamas Policys not his skin color. EVERYONE READING THIS PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE PEOPLES SIGNS IN THE PHOTOS ARE NOT RACIST....THEY JUST DON'T LIKE OBAMAS POLICIES AND THERFORE PROBLEY DONT LIKE OBAMA...IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE RACIST LIKE THE WRITTER OF THIS CRAP BELIEVS. maybe I am under educated in politcs and Im happy to be but im smart enough to see what is racist and what isn't seems like I got you a little angry Deep Brain or should I say "No Brain" You just can't comprehend that just because they don't support Obama doesn't mean they are racist. Yes I used all caps to get the attention of people so they would see through your bull crap that you wrote. The signs you pointed out to be racist were not racist at least find some actual racist signs to pick out if your gonna call them on that.

Let's suppose Obama's father had been from, say, Belgium, or maybe Finland. Otherwise, the basic course of Obama's life remains the same. Obama is elected, takes office on Jan. 20 and makes the same series of proposals. And there'd be people who didn't like those proposals. And many of them would have showed up Saturday. But I guarantee you they would not have been carrying signs saying "Where's the birth certificate," or "Obama for president of Kenya.
And that would be because no one would care if Obama's white father was from some European country. The birthers care because Obama's father was black, and because Obama is half-black.
Not everyone at the rally was racist, but the ones holding those signs were (and are).

AS far as the estimate of the rally's size, well as the saying goes reality has a well-known liberal bias.
I think of what Chris Matthews said on Morning Joe recently that I thought had some serious merit. That these people, for all their patriotism, are basically insurrectionists. They're inclined to tear government down with nothing in its stead. They are always around but when the Repubs were in power and in the WH it was harder to attack W and his cronies, and they didn't have the Becks et al. stirring them against the administration.
But now. Not only is a liberal back in the WH, he is also black. It just intensifies their hatred. One of Maddow's guest put it best that on 9/12, when we didn't know really who had attacked us and whether there would be more, the spirit probably more apt to be described as fear. So what does those signs have to do with 9/12 - fear of the black planet (socialist or otherwise).
