Signed, sealed....

"When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour" Revelations 8-8
All congratulations to Barack Obama, who is now the sole owner of George W. Bush's legacy.

And most of all, no matter who Barack Obama finally turns out to be, this is truly a wonderful day for all who have the blood of Africa in their veins.

Certainly, if anyone, anywhere, ever deserved to be happy, it is the black people of America. God bless them and, especially for their sake,  I hope that all goes well.

It is a wonderful day for Americans. Period.

We do deserve to be happy. I hope that all goes well for the myriad of faces that are smiling tonight. Including, I suspect, yours.

Quoting Revelations? You're seriously afraid of this guy, aren't you? Because he's black? Jesus.

Hrebendorf,
The very best thing about Barack Obama is the color of his skin, any fears I may have about him have to do much more to do with the "white" part of him. The opportunism, the cunning, the opaqueness. No matter, whoever he is, we are going to get to know him very well now.

I said that his color is the best thing about him and I mean it. What America has done, is doing, and despite Obama, will continue to do to black people, oppresses my heart. That they have at least a few days or months off from hell is something that should make a marble statue cry with tears of joy.

And so I must declare heartily that I am truly happy for all African-American's today. Especially, I'm happy for the old, black people who have lived through so much fear and humiliation. Their joy is beautiful to behold and to meditate on. Also if they are lucky enough to be "called home" anytime soon, before the disintegration of America's economy and power that Bush has brought about is blamed on their brother; (something that their life experience will have made them all too familiar with), then this is indeed their blessed day.

ok, maybe I stand corrected with some of what I said, but we'll see

Yes this David Seaton guy is distrustful of blacks, calls them low information voters. (Probably doesn't know any blacks.) Will not call Palin supporters low information voters. Probably hasn't discussed how Bush has driven the small-government Republicans out of his party (for now). Will not discuss whether or not the base of the Republican Party consists solely of mobs of willfully moronic white people. Will not tell us if this makes him proud.

This Seaton guy called McCain a clever campaigner by falling so far behind. Called McCain a clever campaigner by casting Obama, not Bush, as the incumbent to run against. Ignores the phony posturing of the Republicans as protectors of the working guy.

This guy can't bear to admit that this election validates the greatness of America.

This David Seaton guy is but a generation removed from Deliverance, with a groomed beard, a shower, and some classroom time behind him.

Come on, let's get out of here.

Generation removed? Actually, Deliverance (the book and film) isn't that old at all. My mom was in James Dickey's English class at USC (the real one, not the Trojan one).

Oh David, this is a wonderful day for all Americans and for any number of reasons. Certainly one of those reasons is that the United States of America, including those folks Tom Frank wrote about out there in Kansas, have elected a man named Barack Hussein Obama who does indeed have African blood flowing through his veins. We the People have come a very long way.

The mistake of course is to conclude that everything is groovy now, that we can erase all the evils in our past and can expect nothing but bread and roses and milk and honey in our future. But we can step back and be proud of ourselves as a Nation today. And that's a good thing.

user-pic

how about just bread and honet.

Heck, frget the bread. I'll be happy with honey.

Yay Bruce!!!!!!

There's a better use for sour grapes.

"...no matter who Barack Obama finally turns out to be..." Get off this, please.

And lots of pink people are happy, too. Why don't we deserve that happiness?
