What Sarah Palin could have said (if she was sane, stable, & innocent)

Good afternoon, friends and fellow Alaskans.
The last year and a half have been a real whirlwind for me and for my family.
The national media has reported all kinds of things, many of which have been very hurtful to the privacy our family cherishes. You know that I have a wonderful and supportive family, and that we have had some challenges recently with Trig and with Bristol and my wonderful grandson Brickbat.
These challenges, and my experiences campaigning with Senator McCain last fall, have helped me open my heart and my soul to the future.
What I see in that future is that I need to put my family and my country ahead of my own personal ambitions. Because of that, I have decided to leave elected politics for the next few years. I have loved serving the people of Alaska and I have been thrilled by all the great folks I met on the campaign trail. But I love my family even more.
For the next few years, I need to help my son Trig in his development, and I want to be a good mother and grandmother to my family. Because of the importance of attention for infant and toddler development in children with Downs Syndrome, I will be leaving the Governor's office before the end of the month. My lieutenant governor will be working with me over the next three weeks to plan for a smooth and orderly transition.
I know that many people in Alaska, and in the rest of America, are going to be disappointed with me. I will not be seeking office for the next few years, including 2012. Rest assured, I will continue to be interested in politics as an outside observer. I will continue to work to get Republicans elected, and help our country move to a future of plentiful American energy and low taxes. But for now, my family's needs will require most of my time. I do hope to become more active in politics as Trig and Brickbat grow up.
Remember, I have plenty of time for politics ahead of me.
Thank you all, and god bless you.

The differences between the above speech and what she actually said should be the basis for speculation about her sanity and lack of criminal culpability. If I could whip this out in twenty minutes, why is it that Gov. P. could not come up with a speech that said something similar instead of that rambling bit of wackitude that made everybody wonder if she's off her meds, about to be indicted, or hiking the Appalachian Trail?

That would have been a terrific speech. It wouldn't have mattered that it wasn't EXACTLY the truth, because we know by now that Sarah doesn't think much of the truth.

I think the speech she did give speaks volumes about her lofty, egotistical ambitions and her stark pursuit of money, money, money. So in that sense, it was about as truthful as she can ever be.

Still, a really savvy politician would have spent those 20 minutes writing a speech that sounded like yours. But in Sarah's case, it hardly matters what excuses she gave. She'll be out there in the public eye and anything she does from now on will have a price tag attached to it.

In other words, she didn't really see the need to spend a lot of time writing a dumb step-down speech. She's busy gathering up the stuff that'll bring in the loot. That's the ticket. . .

I do not know why. It just keeps rolling around my head every time I hear Palin's name.

Hmm, I think this might be more appropriate.

A "rambling bit of wackitude:"

Dave, you owe wackitudes over the universe a major apology!

But seriously -- it does make you wonder how in the world she came up with such frenetic drivel. It was pure flight of ideas, with no landing strip!

I don't wonder. She is a moron and Todd is an even bigger moron. That speech was meant to manipulate and to protect the Palins, plain and simple. They don't give a sh%% about Alaska or Alaskans; it is all about them and has always been all about them.

It would never occur to either one of them to write a delicate, intelligent and heartfelt speech, because they are not wired with a capacity for empathy, nor do they possess the dignity to carryout such a speech. It is all histrionics and grifting with them.

If you have any doubts, remember this:

". . . the Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman-Marcus from coast to coast."

If she ever runs for anything again -- dog catcher even -- her opponent should just keep playing what she DID say (whatever it was) over and over and over......

But, of course, it's only a slight step down from GWB, and he was re-elected!! Don't know how these neocons (or whoever it is) keep finding these empty vessels, the outer surface of which "connects" with so much of the public. It's some combination of spunk, the ability to smile no matter what, and the impression that they would be "fun to have a beer with" -- no content, just form. And, damn it, so many folks just swallow it whole.

kinda like cotton-candy

Gov. Blagojevich, Gov. Sanford, please let me introduce Gov. Palin.

if silly Sarah had made that speech listed here, she wouldn't be Sarah Palin, would she?

The point guard who quit at half-time. Good rid dens to her dribble!

If you can trust the FBI - sorry, I can't stop laughing at that one - anyway, assuming the impossible, that you can trust the FBI, Sarah isn't going to face indictment anytime soon. That leaves only two choices about her manic sudden retirement. One is the most obvious - that she is just totally unhinged. The second is probably the most likely - that she smells big $$$ awaiting her. In neither case could anyone possibly claim that she is presidential material. But, the same was true about little George Bush in 2000. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I am afraid, Hoppy. Very afraid. Sarah -- untethered from even the semblance of being accountable, possibly affiliated with the Freedom Federation, whipping the folks into a frenzy of god loving, oil tapping, mountain topping, gun-toting zeal. The MSM covering her every move, 24/7, focusing on her appeal to her crowd rather than the nonsense she speaks. And we thought we wouldn't have to deal with this until 2011. Gad.

user-pic

When does Sarah's Fox News show start? You know she just has to hate it that Huckabee got what she thought was due to her. Huckabee has just signed a 3-year deal with Fox.

Ouch! That's gotta hurt Simpleton Sarah.
