Like You Have Been There Before
Something about Bush's speech today bothered me even more than the usual lies, distortions and equivications. Here was the President of the United States, a man who claims nothing (not even the Constitution) will stand in his way of protecting the citizens of the United States bragging about stopping a terrorist attack that was supposed to take place in 2002. Excuse me Mr. President because this may sound a bit rude but, "that's your freaking job!!!"
A lot of football players when they score a touchdown perform elaborate celebrations designed to attract even more attention to themselves as if the dance were more important than the score itself. I like the guys who simply hand the ball back to the ref, claiming that they don't celebrate because they like to "act like they have been there before and will be there again soon."
Today was Bush's elaborate end zone dance. A chance for nothing more than useless self promotion; to strut and preen and let everyone know that he thinks he's doing a great job. My advice, "act like you prevented them before and will continue to prevent them."
