The Lying Opportunist
Plenty of commentary has tagged Palin as a liar. Good. She earned it.
I'm for trying out the label, "opportunist" on her, and maybe combining them in "lying opportunist."
Why did she enrich her small town with pork at the expense of the rest of America? She's an opportunist.
Why did she support the bridge to no where when running for governor? It was politically expedient. Why did she reverse herself on the bridge? Again, political expediency --- sure sign of an opportunist.
Why is she even running? One would have thought she would have educated herself about what the job entails, if there was some piece of it she cared about. Is it because she cares about the Iraq war? Then she would have educated herself about Bush's "exit strategy." Is it because she wants to help people suffering under mortgage debt? Then she wouldn't be flubbing basic facts about the mortgage crisis. Is it because she felt she was best qualified to help McCain? Did she consider any other candidates for the job? Or what the job entails, at all? ("What does the Vice President do all day?")
Why is she running? Because it's a great opportunity for Sarah Palin. She's a lying opportunist.
Two points, in fairness:
1. This is just the impression I have. I could not bring myself to watch her speech. Maybe she actually gave a compelling reason.
2. What an opportunity! I mean, she didn't waste any time or effort putting together a campaign over long months like those chumps McCain, Obama, Clinton, or even Biden! No, no! Much more efficient to give it hardly a thought and just coast in at the end.
