These Ads Are Hurting My Eyes!
Ok, Am I the only person who cringes every time I click on anywhere here at TPM, and either see hideous abdominal flab staring back at me, or contrasting yellow next to amazingly white (but both unappealing) teeth?
Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! and Yuk!
I thought ads were supposed to make you desire something! These make me want to close my eyes until the image goes away. Show me a pleasant smile, or a reasonably flat ab and make me think you can provide it! Don't show me the ugliest mutt at the dog show and then expect me to buy your elixer to make me "best in show," because I'll be too nauseated to try, and I won't believe it anyway.
Let's go back to feel-good, lying ads. It's what we're used to!

Good ads around here are as rare as hen's teeth!

Firefox/AdBlock Plus. Forget the "We're ad supported." thing until the ads are tolerable. As in: Small, non-blinky, not ugly, you get the idea.

Seriously? You don't see them?

Seriously. Not a one.

OK, I'm sold. I'l download tomorrow, but if I have problems, I want your help, OK? I feel pretty savvy, but every now and then I amaze even myself at the things I can't do on-line.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

You won't need help, but if for some reason you do I will.

Firefox is awesome that way CVille. I highly recommend.

ditto...all I see is 'Advertise Liberally' and a big long band of white nothingness...it is wonderful!

And I use Yahoo Antispy once per day to remove ad trackers.

What I wonder, though, is if TPM still gets credits for our visits.

They pay the freight, I am afraid. And unlike TV and because of some mechanical problem, I do not have to listen to anything.
If that is all I have to handle to get an opportunity to communicate to all the great people here, so be it. I have suffered worse travails and as long as the powers that be make money, they will leave me in freedom.

My point was more that these ads are turn-offs. I am not tempted in the least to "click" on them. Remember the Marlboro Man? Tough, rugged, and a smoker? All we had to do was light up to be as cool as he was.
I'm not advocating prettifying smoking, but the idea is that if you want to sell something you show a great result. Who wants a set of teeth you can find on a skeleton? We want a beautiful smile.
Who wants a reminder of the cellulite that we won't even look at in the mirror? Show us a reasonably nice shape and tell us that if we just click right here--> we'll get there too.
I'm just saying there is enough ugly out there. You want to sell me something, show me something pretty.

Heck, when it comes to the ab ad, not even the after picture is all that appealing.
I hear you. Adblock is an excellent solution (I don't use it here, but have no problems with those who do), but, like you, I don't understand who these ads are supposed to entice in the first place. It's a mystery.

I swear, Yahoo is showing 15 year old girls on some dating service (Spitzer and vitter liked dating services, did they not) at my home base where I get my mail.
Pretty soon though, they are going to get into human orifices and we will be face to face with....
well you know.

No, I don't know...human orifices?
BTW, as disgusting as Vitter and Spitzer are, there is nothing in what I have read that indicates they are child molesters. Internet sites that feature 15 year-olds are NOT dating services; they are involved in child pornography.
But I am wondering...what does this have to do with ugly teeth and flabby abdomens?

Oh, This is something that was bothering me with Yahoo. It is disgusting to have young girls like that at my home site. And there is no place to complain to Yahoo. I am beginning to despise Yahoo.
Advertising is a fact of life. I still have not figured out how to block my emails.

I forgot I have adblocker working. I kept wondering why no one was advertising on this site.
All I see is "advertise liberally"
It could be flabby teeth and ugly abdomens.

I thought you should know that your healthcare question is number 6 over at think progress. Hopefully they will dig into that topic with a little more than yes or no answers.

I just watched Podesta's reply. Yes. Universal Single-Payer is off the table.

If the flab buster is working so well for you, why don't you use a more recent and flattering picture of yourself.
