Why "Death Panels" Rings True to Republicans

I think Stephen Colbert identified this one when he asked "how do I get on one, because I would be merciless."  The reason that so many Republicans, especially the angry town hall types, are so willing to believe in government "death panels" is because if they were in charge, that's what they'd do.  If grandma needs an expensive operation, why, as long as it's your grandma and not my grandma, to hell with you!

Point taken.

Yup, people are strange.

Folks who claim to be Christian embrace "Greed is good."

And although they don't believe in evolution, they're all about "Survival of the Fittest."

Where does that come from?

"Greed is good."

Alas, the Anti-Rome New Testament Yahwists have never recovered from the brain-frying disconnect (there was a star trek...) of predestination and salvation by grace alone (works get you nuttin'), result: The Visible Elect--by their accessories shall you know them.

It's always heartwarming when someone answers what I assumed was a rhetorical question.

I had honestly never thought about where the Protestant Work Ethic came from. I just assumed it arose from the uptight nature of the Northern Europeans who invented Protestantism.

But come to think of it, if I had an upstart little religion and thought I might have to go up against the Catholic Church, I'd want my flock to make a lot of money as fast as possible, too. I'd also let them hold the money instead of giving it to me--it would attract less attention but if we needed an army sometime, it would be available.

As is so often the case "What works for me=what God said to do."
