Edwards Third...

Does anyone have a good theory as to why John Edwards just has not taken off in this race?

Payback's A Bitch...

This article about potential Senatorial paybacks on their Presidential endorsements is interesting, but it actually makes you realize what a fairly bold move it is for someone to back Obama, against someone named Clinton.

World Can't Wait For Bush To Be Done

The Times has an interesting piece on the world's reaction to the U.S. primaries, as people are watching this race intently. And guess what?

Much of the fervid absorption in the primaries and caucuses — accessible as never before on 24-hour satellite and cable television like CNN and Fox News — seems inspired by a hope that, whatever else the American electoral process may yield, it will spell the end of an era of foreign policy dominance by neoconservatives.

Yeah, join the club, folks. Join the club.

Digital Photo Sleuthing

Since Obama and Clinton will be bickering for a while, we've got plenty of time to consider the world outside of politics, like this neat little lost-and-found story about a digital camera, the photos inside, and the 10-day search for the owner:

He pored over some from Dec. 30 that didn't include the children. The photos showed signs for bars in Manhattan's East Village: The Thirsty Scholar, Telephone Bar, Burp Castle. There also were multiple interior shots of a tavern, but they didn't seem to fit with what Ascher knew of those other three bars.

Then he stopped on another picture, showing two people outside an apartment building. Seemingly accidentally included in the picture was something Ascher had missed the first time: an awning in the background that read "Standings." Aha!

A camera lost in New York City, eventually returned to its owner, in Sydney, Australia.

I doubt this would have happened if they had to take the camera to the Photomat...

Parliamentary System

Prodi out:

Italian Premier Romano Prodi resigned Thursday after his center-left coalition lost a Senate confidence vote, a humiliating end to a 20-month-old government plagued by infighting.

If only it were this easy...

Fascism

I just checked wikipedia, and, in the entry on fascism, Jonah Goldberg isn't ever mentioned.

Not even a footnote!

Clearly the wikipedians haven't read his book!
