		        <![CDATA[<p>I get the magnet school idea, but it really depends on the geography that you are talking about.  It's fine for kids in cities like New York or Cambridge to hop on the subway/bus to get to a school across town.  <br />
This idea doesn't work too well when you have kids in segregated suburban neighborhoods - trying to get some kind of equalibrium would require transporting students 25-30 miles each way - across school districts.<br />
Given that schools are usually funded via local property taxes, I think you'll have a hard time selling this idea.</p>]]>
