DRUDGE REPORT: World Rejects Obama! Is He Nuts?

Today's headlines on Drudge is:

"THE EGO HAS LANDED WORLD REJECTS OBAMA: CHICAGO OUT IN FIRST ROUND"

The world rejects OBAMA?  Where does he get this crap?  If the world did anything it rejected Chicago and believed the Republican Party and why wouldn't they?  With the Republican Party downgrading Chicago, their President's trip and America for even 'wanting' to hold the Olympics in the United States?

Think about this folks.  Why would anybody want to hold such a special event in a place like Chicago, Illinois, when all they hear in the media and from the conservatives right wingers, are stories about the unusual violence going on there lately and the small group of locals saying they don't want the Olympics there?  At the same time, other nations are cheering and smiling, praying for the world to come visit them.  Our Republican leadership and media instead - push them away.

Heck, isn't that sort of like asking parents to bring their kids to a crime infested neighborhood for a birthday party.

The media and Republicans should be very PROUD of themselves for losing billions of dollars for our economy, let alone selling what our Democracy means to us.

I don't think the Repubicans bitching and moaning had much to do with it, although they'll likely claim a political victory. I think it's more likely that South America has never hosted the games before. It's about time they did. I adore Chicago and would have loved for the games to be there. But Rio is awesome and Brazil deserves a shot.

"I think it's more likely that South America has never hosted the games before. It's about time they did." Agree ... and just wish I knew first-hand how awesome Rio is.

Actually -- isn't it a tad "egocentric" (or something in that direction) on Drudge's part to assume that the IOC's ruling was entirely a reflection on American politics and politicians, without consideration of all the other people and interests there are around the world.

But that's okay: if Obama hadn't gone to Copenhagen, the headlines would be reading: "USA Loses Olympic Nod Because of Obama's Inaction" They are really, really getting quite boring and predictable.

Yes, Drudge is 'nuts'. A pet peeve is that sites such as his claim to be a 'news' site, when in truth they are in reality sites geared to only promote specific agendas (same pet peeve regardless of left/right promo). There should be a disclaimer, but then that would defeat their agendas!

There is never truth to be found when facts are skewed to promote 'one side or other'. Sadly, too many care not about facts or anything but promoting their flawed agenda. To this end, at least on internet, Drudge is indeed the master of this practice.

Well you play the cards you are dealt in in some bar in some one jeep town in Texas, this will play well.

THE WORLD REJECTS OBAMA.

What drivel.

Brazil has a very different culture than the US. I wonder, given all the cries of "sexism" tossed around TPM at some, whether many here will still see Rio as "hot" when they learn more. ;o)

But it's true: Olympics in Brazil should be very, very fun.

user-pic

GTFO. Brazil has a different culture than the US? No way! They still speak English though, right?

user-pic

No, I believe they speak Chilean there because of the Conquesodores.

But! All Brazilians, or Brasilians as they call themselves, are totally fun-loving and fun and loving.

SEXIST!

Its a shame that Chicago lost out, but I feel that losing (in the end, I'll ignore that it was eliminated before Tokyo and Madrid) to Rio is perfectly honorable. South America has had this coming for a long time, and its about time they got theirs.

"World Rejects Obama!"

I guess the Repugnants just want America to fail! Where have I heard that before???

user-pic

They're all into writing attention-grabbing headlines. You need to take them with a grain of salt.

user-pic

Much preferred would be the option that they go pound salt.

user-pic

Perhaps, but I'd rather have too much information than too little. People have the choice to read or not read any of those sites, including Drudge, Crooks and Liars, TPM, Politico, etc.
