Vote YES on Foxnews website: Should AG Investigate/prosecute crimes?
Should the Justice Department reopen -- and possibly prosecute -- cases of alleged mistreatment of terror suspects by CIA interrogators? That is the poll that Foxnews is asking -- no surprise, the results are showing the NO's have it by a landslide. I think TPM viewers should go vote. Let's change that number for them.

Sorry Coonsey, but this idea seems kind of pointless. If you want to marshall the thousands it requires to move Fox online polls (and who apart from Fox friends actually have an interest in what they say?) you might want to think of something more productive for them to do...

You are right, but in the spirit of Mother Teresa, I voted "Yes" anyway.

What the polls show is that Fox watchers have a TV up their ass because that is where there heads are. Not wanting to even look at the torture issue is a sign of sheer determination not to remove one's head from one's ass.

Thanks Coonsey, happy to oblige.

Thanks - I voted. The results currently showing are predictable but still astounding - 94% vote NO! Real diverse crowd, those Fox News fans.

Ed Schultz does them on his show and it comes out about the same. What would be interesting is to see what less biased news programs would show, and whether the one with the most balanced response was actually more credible. Maybe if all the networks had the same poll at the same time?!?! But without telling their viewers they were all in on it.
Jon Stewart gave an inciteful parallel about these "polls" on pundits' shows last week. Essentially, the polls was the measurement of the sucess the pundit had in getting people to parrot the talking point they had just endorsed. They have no chance of being unbiased, or a random sample.

"Should The Justice Department Pursue CIA Abuse Cases?"
Just break the question down to its essence:
Should we uphold the law?
As of midnight, 94% Of Fox viewers say no.

Gee Gary - I wonder how your idol, Fran Townsend, voted?

What are you saying Bill, I mean, besides taking a jab at tpmgary, which is just BS sword play. Are you suggesting we should send the CIA the message that they can do whatever the hell they want to anyone at anytime and they will never be held accountable. We will never question anything they ever do if someone, anyone, told them they should do it? Is that what you mean? Or are you just going to take a cheap shot at tpmgary and assume people will understand your argument and take it to heart?

Gregor - it's related to another post that I did on waterboarding where Gary started a an argument but didn't finish. You can read it here. He was actually the one throwing around the cheap shots.

Yes, it makes more sense now, and it does not appear as harsh as it did on the face of it.
The question remains. It would seem you scoff at Fran Townsend and question her credibility, so if she she is saying "everything was legal" and you do not find her credible, then you support an investigation. However, if you suggest we not investigate the CIA, then are you finding her credible when she says everything was legal, which makes Townsend as good resource to support tomgary's argument.

Gregor - you misinterpreted what I wrote. I didn't put any faith in what Fran Townsend has said or written. Gary is the one who refuted my reading of the CIA's IG report because he quotes Fran and says that Fran knows a lot more about the subject than I do.
(Fran says that it's hard to say if waterboarding was really effective.)
I simply asked Gary if he also agreed with Fran when she said that the CIA's methods were legal and made us safer.
