Obama Wasn't Clear: Payroll Taxcut or Rebate Check?
I have one complaint about President Obama's speech last night. It was about the 95% of Americans getting a tax cut.
First he tells us,
Then he tells it a little differently,
Which is it? I happen to know it's a payroll tax cut; but I'm sure many Americans are expecting a tax rebate like we've gotten in the past.
He shouldn't have used the words, "Checks are on the Way." I'm sure many will start to question where there rebate is, just watch.
First he tells us,
"Because of this plan, 95% of the working households in America will receive a tax cut - a tax cut that you will see in your paychecks beginning on April 1st."
Then he tells it a little differently,
"In order to save our children from a future of debt, we will also end the tax breaks for the wealthiest 2% of Americans. But let me perfectly clear, because I know you'll hear the same old claims that rolling back these tax breaks means a massive tax increase on the American people: if your family earns less than $250,000 a year, you will not see your taxes increased a single dime. I repeat: not one single dime. In fact, the recovery plan provides a tax cut - that's right, a tax cut - for 95% of working families. And these checks are on the way."
Which is it? I happen to know it's a payroll tax cut; but I'm sure many Americans are expecting a tax rebate like we've gotten in the past.
He shouldn't have used the words, "Checks are on the Way." I'm sure many will start to question where there rebate is, just watch.

I caught that and would like to know myself.

The cut will be in the paycheck. A little more back with every paycheck. The second statement regards a different issue, that is, tax increases that Obama is placing on the top 2%.

tonnyb, you are not reading the second part correctly, he says CHECKS are on they way -- that has nothing to do with tax increases.
