Blagojevich Taped -- Too Bad Bush Wasn't

It's sad to hear about Blagojevich's arrest but it's not really shocking.  The feds have been trying to 'get him' on something for the several years now.  Now it seems the only thing they have caught him at, is trying to sell Barack Obama's senate seat.  Even that will be hard to prove.  Illinois law is very 'loose' with respects to election laws.  If you want to pick somebody that will benefit you politically and with election funding -- that is not illegal in Illinios.  There's a fine line you must keep.

Just imagine if we had tapes of President George W Bush's administration over the past 8 years.  Too bad the Feds didn't go after him as hard as they did Blagojevich.  It's also too bad the Democratic Party refused to impeach Bush.

If anybody needs to go to jail, it's George W Bush.  Lives have been lost, jobs have been lost, reputations have been lost and families ruined because of this man's actions.

It's not too late Democrats -- Do your job and protect Americans from people like Bush and yes, even Blagojevich.

Cheney and Rummy and others came from the Nixon Administration and they learned that tapes are bad, that releasing documents is bad, and letting people testify is bad. These are players whose main object in life was not to get caught and they were damned good at it.

I read the writs. They have plenty on him. Yes, too bad nobody wired Cheney OR Bush for that matter, but they probably still wouldn't be impeached. They certainly did enough in plain view to the constitution and against current and previous laws. The evidence is all over the place of high crimes. Tapes would probably not have made a difference with a Congress that was afraid of being labled "payback" after what they did to Clinton.

It's also too bad the Democratic Party refused to impeach Bush.

That is unpragmatic. You need to be less leftist.

I hope this is intended to be ironic, but I have a feeling it isn't.

Coonsey - when does the Bush bashing stop?

And the "only thing" they have him at is trying to sell the Senate seat? Did you read the actual report? How about influencing the Tribune editorial board? Or the Children's hospital? Tollway Projects?

Are you just sympathetic because he's a Democrat? I can't tell if you're sympathetic and think he didn't do anything wrong...

1). Lives have been lost - what a revelation, we're in a war. My brother was a NYC fireman who went to Iraq after 9/11 and died in combat. He believed in the cause and there's lots of people that did (and do).

2) Jobs have been lost - yes, have you ever heard of a business cycle? Have you ever heard of a thing called Congress which hasn't done much to help things...

3) Reputations lost? Families ruined? - I think it's time to move on...

No moving on. We must always remember how utterly awful the bush administration was, and never let any of those people near any position of power ever again.

"Bush bashing?" Are you kidding me? This guy has killed more people than Osama bin Ladin and you call it "Bush-bashing?" This guy has shredded our Constitution and ignored warning of the worst attack on our soil and is now claiming to have "kept us safe" and telling the truth about that is "Bush-bashing?"

I could go on, but I'm sure you aren't reading this anyway.

Are you as completely deluded as that cretin that you defend, or are you as dishonest as he is? Just askin'

user-pic

It's not easy. Fitzgerald wanted Rove's emails, remember? And turns out they got 'deleted' magically.

user-pic

The 9/11 attack is Bush's fault? Not sure how you can say that he "ignored warning". That's a pretty strong statement. But I was expecting you to say something like 9/11 was an inside job that Bush was behind.

You take very lightly that we haven't been attacked since 9/11. You probably think it's luck. Did you serve your country? People like you just sit up in their pulpits and bash people in charge. To claim that he's a murderer like bin Laden is disgusting.

user-pic

bin Laden destroyed the WTC and damaged the Pentagon. Bush has destroyed Iraq.

If you feel like comparing death tolls we could do that, but it feels just too Vietnam-ish to me.

user-pic

Does "Bin Ladin determined to attack USA" mean anything to you? Remember when a CIA agent presented that information and evidence that there were people training in flight schools without learning how to land, etc, and Bush's answer was: "Now you've covered your ass," as he went on to the golf course.

Yes! He ignored warnings and crippled the FBI from stopping the attack. Why, once it happened, was he left in an unprotected school-room for an hour? Who knew that three buildings were the extent of the attack? Who could assume that Bush was safe?

He is guilty of malfeasance at a minimum.

Deal with it Bill.

user-pic

I never suggested a death toll comparison.

But having known people that volunteered to fight in Iraq and died for their country, it makes me sick when people call Bush a murderer.

user-pic

I feel bad for our citizens serving as well, but I feel that they are just tools unwillingly helping Bush's homicides. It's terrible for a man with such leadership responsibility to so brazenly abuse the trust and respect of his soldiers.

user-pic

Do you also consider President Johnson a murderer for Vietnam? Was FDR a murderer for WWII?

user-pic

This is very narrow-minded.

user-pic

Do you also consider President Johnson a murderer for Vietnam?

Yes.

Was FDR a murderer for WWII?

No. If you had read your history books you would've known that Germany and Japan both declared war on us first. What were we to do, not fight back? Japan actually attacked us before declaring war, thus the 'day of infamy'.

Iraq did nothing to us. They had nothing to do with 9/11. If FDR had declared war on Mexico on December 8, 1941, instead of Japan, then you might've had a point.

user-pic

Thanks for actually explaining this, I was getting too tired to lay out the obvious.

user-pic

Bush was taped. He used his recording name; Spike Jones.

user-pic

It's not sad at all. He is the definition of a crony and is a disgrace to the Democratic Party. He's a thug and actually dumber than Sarah Palin. That's saying something.
