Hillary Clinton for Sec of State - Will Accept - Obama's First Wrong Decision

Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned.

Obama's advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton's foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.

Clinton would be well placed to become the country's dominant voice in foreign affairs, replacing Condoleezza Rice. Since being elected senator for New York, she has specialised in foreign affairs and defence. Although she supported the war in Iraq, she and Obama basically agree on a withdrawal of American troops.

Clinton, who still harbours hopes of a future presidential run, had to weigh up whether she would be better placed by staying in the Senate, which offers a platform for life, or making the more uncertain career move to the secretary of state job.

President Elect Barack Obama sir, you will be forever sorry you made this choice -- I'm sure of it.

Just as this article stated, Hillary had to weigh up which position would be best for her next run for the Presidency.  Who do you suppose she will be looking out for during the next four years; President Obama's administration or her very own future?

What better way is there to undercut your enemy while 'appearing' at the same time, to support his every word; be the man's Secretary of State.  Gain a few supporters while making behind closed deals of for your own future.

Hillary Clinton will be in the same position that Senator John McCain was this year, too old by 2016 to run for President, so her next best chance is to run in 2012 -- giving Barack Obama only 4 years to be President before she challenges him.

If she herself doesn't undermine Obama's foreign policy, President Bill Clinton will do what he can behind closed doors.  He wants Hillary back in the White House just as much as she wants to be there.  They proved that during the past 22 months.

These two people use to be my heroes.  I knew they weren't perfect but I never really saw the 'real' them.  Now I think I have.

I get that a lot of people don't trust the Clintons, but this is going way too far. This was the same type of fears that came up before the convention and then again when she was asked to campaign for Obama. There was speculation that she would cause drama during the convention, but she didn't. There was speculation that she would sabotage Obama on the trail...she was one of his best surrogates. Hillary is a career politician, of course she cares about her future, anyone would and she has a right to. But I do not believe that she would undermine Obama's foreign policy and put this country in danger in order to win an election. Doesn't that amount to treason? HRC knows that the media will be sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the slightest whiff of backstabbing - why in the world would she give them the satisfaction?

Now ANEW08, why would the media being "sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the slightest WHIFF of backstabbing"? Could it be that they TOO feel she would be undermining Obama's chances of fixing problems.

She played GOOD COP while Bill played bad during campaign -- he didn't really support Obama (at least publically) till the last 2 wks. That's probably because they FINALLY got PAID for their services.

This offer.

This is tiresome nonsense --

"Now ANEW08, why would the media being "sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the slightest WHIFF of backstabbing"? Could it be that they TOO feel she would be undermining Obama's chances of fixing problems."

Could it be there's a difference between "feel"ing and THINKING?

Could it be the media -- PUNDITS who are paid to opine and bloviate -- have too much time on their hands? That they need salacious speculation and even "the slightest WHIFF" of anything whatsoever, even to the degree of MAKING IT UP, in order to justify their existence?

That's your PERCEPTION? ProJECTION? You have hard evidence?

"Peobabyly" = I-F. I-F is the biggest word in the language. What does it amount to? Speculative bloviation.

Last but not least: Hillary has not accepted; she is torn between a job for which abundantly qualified -- Sec. of State -- and long-term career in the Senate, where she is her own person.

The Clinton-hating stupidity really needs to stop -- even if one is a closet Republican't-distinguish-between-fantasy/speculation-and-reality.
