Senator Obama - VA is Shredding Claims - Do Something

Senator Barack Obama -- Vets need your help immediately!

I just found this story in the Army Times.  If you know a soldier or veteran that's had to make a claim, then you know already the headache it can be to get documentation that is requested for the claim.  You know how long a normal claim can take to get results, sometimes years.

This is just plain pathetic and who ever is in charge should be FIRED immediately.

Department of Veterans Affairs regional offices have been ordered to immediately stop shredding documents after an investigation found some benefits claims and supporting documents among piles of papers waiting to be destroyed.

Claims often include personal records supplied by veterans that are not duplicated in government files and might be difficult to replace, such as certificates for births, deaths and marriage.

In a statement, VA Secretary James Peake said only a handful of documents were found among piles of documents set aside to be shredded. But he is not pleased.

"I insist on the highest possible standards for processing and safeguarding information in VA's custody," Peake said. "It is unacceptable that documents important to a veteran's claim for benefits should be misplaced or destroyed."

Peake said three of VA's 57 regional offices were involved, without naming them. Veterans of Foreign Wars said they were told four regional offices -- in Detroit, St. Louis, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Waco, Texas -- were identified as having documents in shredding bins that should not have been there.

VFW National Commander Glen Gardner said the problem could be significant...MORE

There They Go Again - Media Pushing Obama OVER CONFIDENT

The media is once again pushing the story line that he's acting TOO confident and may end up losing because of it.

Stories about Obama's planning a huge celebration party.  John McCain claims Obama has measured the drapes in the White House already.  There are stories that voters may think he's got it in the bag, so they don't go vote, etc...

Barack Obama is doing the exactly what every other presidential candidate has done at this point in the campaign and election.  The transition team is 'always' created before Election Day, so at to have a smooth transition (seemingly unchanged).  John McCain is failing his job already if he doesn't have one started.

If there is a party being arranged (I have no proof of this) - so be it.  Parties of this sort are usually arranged MONTHS in advance.  No matter who wins or loses, Barack Obama and John McCain are doing their assistants favors by pre-arranging any celebration or thank you party.

Joe the Plumber - Detail Time

It appears from today's interviews of Joe the Plumber from last night's debate, might have been a plant or he just made sure the media was near by when he approached Barack Obama in Ohio.

Every word out of the man's mouth today screams "John McCain".  Proud of Iraq, proud of America, quit making excuses for America, quit taking my money, etc, etc...

If he continues to be in the media spotlight I think Obama should give a little more specifics on Joe's taxes and how they would increase or not under Obama's plan.  If they increase, show Americans exactly by how much.

For example (I have no idea how much it would be), lets say he currently pays a rate of 30% for $250,000.  That comes to 75,000 per year (not counting any deductions or exemptions).  Now let's say his rate increases to 35%.  That's 87,000 per year.  An increase of $12,000 per year or $100.00 per month he will pay in taxes.

Now, lets add in the cost of health insurance under McCain and/or Obama.  Let's take off the tax deduction Joe gets if he hires one employee or from staying in America.

In other words, give a complete run down of what Joe will actually have to pay and what exemptions, deductions, college for his kid and savings he will gain from Obama's plan.

I'm no expert but I'm betting Joe the Plumber fairs out better under an Obama administration then a John McCain (Bush like administration).

Lastly, I would point out it was the maverick John McCain that said Bush's tax cuts were "mostly for the wealthy" -- class warfare?

Will We See Sympathy Support For Republicans Today?

First Vice President Cheney is reported to have had more irregular heart beats, now Mrs Ronald Reagan falls and breaks her pelvis.

I don't mean to say these aren't REAL stories to be concerned about; but the thought occurred to me that TODAY of ALL DAYS?  The last Debate between Barack Obama and John McCain.

I sure hope both candidates make note of the health issues of these two people.

But I'm wondering if viewers will have a sudden twinge of sympathy for John McCain and his party --- OR --- will these two OLDER folks having these health issues actually serve to REMIND folks just how close Sarah Palin is to the Presidency?

What do you think?

Tonight's Debate Predictions

I predict that John McCain will end up winning the poll results from tonight's debate.  Not by much mind you; but enough to use his most desired words "We fought back and we left in Victory".

Truth be told, Barack Obama's luck and debating skills have to fail at some point.  Everybody has a 'off' day.  He's only human after all.

I just have a gut feeling he won't be on top of his game tonight as in the previous debates.  Will he be too tired, too burnt out; Who knows?  I just feel that he won't do as well tonight.

One big worry I have is that the media will feel they've been too 'tough' on John McCain, so they will decide to fight the general population's feelings and express their own.

One last worry I have is that Bob Schieffer is moderating this debate.  He tends to show his support for John McCain in previous interviews.  Always giving him the soft ball questions.

We'll see what happens I guess.

Taking any bets who will win?

There They Go Again - Rep's Helping The Wealthy

There they go again.  Republicans are arguing with Democrats in the House about their desire to create a new stimulus package with a heavy emphasis on help to state and local governments.

House Republicans on Monday objected to new spending measures that congressional Democrats are considering as they draft a $150 billion economic stimulus package.

In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Ohio Rep. John Boehner, the top Republican in the House, called the proposed spending "an irresponsible, business-as-usual approach that has earned this Congress the lowest approval ratings ever recorded."

Instead, House Republicans proposed a number of measures that, they say, will "turn the corner towards real economic growth," including:

Removing legal barriers to speed up new offshore oil drilling. A law banning offshore drilling expired October 1, but Republican lawmakers say lawsuits could block new offshore rigs and want judges to quickly rule on the cases.

Lowering taxes on income that U.S. corporations earn from their overseas subsidiaries.

Eliminating capital gains taxes on the sale of homes up to $500,000 for a couple.

Suspending capital gains taxes on securities purchased during the next two years.

Extending government deposit insurance to business transaction accounts.

Directing the government to guarantee inter-bank loans.

In case you don't understand the lingo here - lower taxes on income the corporations make from their overseas companies is in -- other words paying them for: OUT SOURCING AMERICAN JOBS.

An example of a subsidiary is a factory or business that moved overseas or to Mexico to get cheaper labor -that was the job that you lost.   Now that same company wants to pay lower taxes on the profits they made 'over there'.

Looks like Republicans haven't changed a bit.  Even after seeing where the Bush administration along with their Republican leadership  took our economy over the past 8 years with their "trickle down" theory - they continue to this day, to think giving money to the wealthy will create the most jobs and the most prosperity.

Except for the drilling of oil (helping their oil friends and stock ownership), the other Republican ideas will only serve to help the wealthiest of us all.

The Democrats want to help the middle class and poor. Guess it depends on your personal/religious beliefs who we're suppose to be helping here.

Gas Prices are Lower Because American's Can't Afford Them

For the past decade we've been told the reason for high gas prices is SUPPLY and DEMAND.  We now know this isn't true.

It was reported recently that the reason oil prices have dropped so dramatically since the Bailout was introduced is because Oil Producers decided the BULK of customers can't AFFORD to pay those high prices anymore and if they don't want to lose the billions in profits they've gained over the past 8 years, they'd best lower the prices FAST.

In other words folks -- it has nothing to do with demand or supply available -- it has everything to do with how much money you have on hand.

I wish I could remember the lady's name that reported this fact about oil producers deciding to lower prices for customers to keep buying but I can't.  I can however, remember it was on Foxnews.

Use The Media To Do the Dirty Work

Have someone DIFFERENT, that is relatively safe from losing his political position, each week between now and November 4th, come out and say something about former terrorist Ayers and Senator Obama--- and you get FREE air time on the daily political shows.

A week ago it was Governor Palin saying Obama was "Pallin with the Terrorists".  Then McCain supporters yell terrorist, traitor or kill him a day or so later.  Then the Senator himself mentions Mr Ayers in an interview.  Out of the blue, McCain begins to play Mr Nice Guy by reprimanding his supporters for their misunderstanding or fear of Obama.

The following week, mention again about Ayers but imply you don't care about him; but Obama should tell the truth about his relationship with the man.

Meanwhile, you announce you''ve got Obama right where you want them to be -- in the campaign and start talking the ISSUES again.

But off to the side --- have a prominent politician accuse Obama of being like Osama.

Forcing the media to once again talk about the Ayers ISSUE --- for you --- for free.

Is McCain Wearing Makeup?

I just watched a couple videos showing Senator John McCain.  The scar on the left side of his face was very prominent in one and almost gone in the other.  These videos are from this MONTH.

Is John McCain trying to HIDE his cancer scars from the voters?

Prediction: McCain Will Use 'Targeting of Christians' as Campaign Tool

This will be short and sweet:

I predict Senator John McCain will be reporting very soon that Christians are being targeted in Iraq by the enemy.

McCain will remind folks why we went there and why we must stay till we have victory.

I predict he try his best to anger his base and others (and therefore rally them toward voting for him) -- by sighting the brutal killings of Christians in Iraq.

Women Should Register with Selective Service Too!

Even as the U.S. confronts two long wars, neither Sen. John McCain nor Sen. Barack Obama believes the country should take the politically perilous step of reviving the military draft.

But the two presidential candidates disagree on a key foundation of any future draft: Mr. Obama supports a requirement for both men and women to register with the Selective Service, while Mr. McCain doesn't think women should have to register.

Also, Mr. Obama would consider officially opening combat positions to women. Mr. McCain would not.

"Women are already serving in combat [in Iraq and Afghanistan] and the current policy should be updated to reflect realities on the ground," said Wendy Morigi, Mr. Obama's national security spokeswoman. "Barack Obama would consult with military commanders to review the constraints that remain."

According to his campaign, Mr. McCain supports the current Department of Defense restrictions on women in combat units, including armor, field artillery and special forces....More

I'm sure most women would differ with Senator Obama's feelings about women serviing in the military if there were ever a draft again; but I agree with Obama, it's only fair.  It's their country too.

While I do not feel the women should be able to pass the exact same physical tests as men, I do think they have the ability, with the right training to 'fight' or 'protect' others just as any man (with weaker tendencies) would.

Besides, perhaps women would appreciate more of what men have to experience if they too, were forced to be put on a list of possible draftees.  There are many other nations that include women in their military.

I know that most men say 'no' to having women there, just as they say no to gays.  They are a distraction they say.  Or they will most likely be raped if caught.  Well, folks, little is told about it but men got raped during WWII, Vietnam and other wars too.  It's just not 'assumed' as it would be for women.

As far as 'giving away secrets' during torture -- even some of our strongest men did that -- Including Senator John McCain.  He was later pardoned for doing so along with other POW's.

When ever you argue against it, keep in mind that you can bet your bottom dollar that if your home town was ever invaded by the enemy, that women as well as men would both 'fight to the death' to protect their families and homes.

What's your opinion?

Here are just few women that served during WWII - my mom for one

Require Credit Card Companies to STOP Feeding the Bears.

Some of the talk shows were discussing credit cards and American's getting themselves too much in debt because of them; that perhaps somebody should come forward and tell voters to stop it.  That it is their getting in debt that is hurting the economy.  They also said however, that it would be political suicide if a candidate did that.

It made me think of an idea however.  What if someone (Obama) were to suggest that his administration would stop credit card companies from allowing a customer to get in debt -- beyond their means that is.

Imagine getting a credit card worth $500.  The customer ends up spending $475 of that.  The customer pays his monthly premium on time every month.

The card company likes those actions so they give the customer extended balance available (even though the customer never asked for it).  Now that customer has $1000 total limit.  The customer of course ends up taking advantage of that money, saving his cash for other things.  Always paying his monthly premium due.

Soon however, that card company offers the customer a 10,000 balance available.  The customer, not paying much attention to his debt, just his monthly premium says, "Wow, I can buy that new boat now".

The monthly premium jumps up so high the customer can't make the payment.  He begins paying his bill late each month or not at all.  The card company decides to punish the customer by raising the interest rate on the customer's account.  Instead of paying that original 8% APR, the customer is now paying a whopping 21%.

To top this off, the card company decides to continue increasing the credit limit for that same customer.  It's like offering fudge to a person that loves fudge.

The customer is left with a debt for life, that he/she may or may not be able to keep up with over the years.  And if they can't meet those bills, they end up filing bankruptcy.

Yes, the customer is as mush at fault for his problems as the card company; but was there something the company could have done to stop the over spending and abuse?  Could they have avoided that customer from claiming bankrupt and therefore losing most of the money the customer owed them?  Yes.

As soon as that customer had missed two payments, they could have put a hold on that account.  They could have stopped the customer from using their card until they've once again proven they can meet their obligations toward it.

Instead, they packed on -- even more debt to the customer by charging more interest rates and therefore, more money due.  They even turn around and charge a huge late fee each time the miss paying.

Now think about it folks.  If the customer can't meet (and did previously) the payments now, how is adding more money due each month and in the long run helping?

Sure, the company (if the customer is finally able to pay his monthly premiums) ends up making more money -- but what if he doesn't and files bankrupt?

Both the customer and company lose.

Perhaps Barack Obama should say he plans on making new regulations to help stop that 'throwing money' at customers, and stop credit cards from charging outrageous fees and interest rates for being late.  Perhaps he should say he will require companies to put a hold on accounts for a period of time while the customer catches up.

Oh sure, there are specifics to look into, like the cost of extra paper work and labor for keeping tabs -- but this feeding the bears will only continue to make things worse.

What's your opinion?  Can something be done to not only help the customer from him/her self; but to help the company to get back what is owed with a little profit?

McCain is Losing because of John McCain and Sarah Palin -- Not the Economy News

I posted something similar to this in the past but because of the media still pushing the 'economy' as the reason McCain is losing, I feel the need to argue against that again.

It’s really irritating to keep hearing so-called expert political strategists (Democratic and Republican) talk about how the economy tanking has caused John McCain to probably lose this election.

"Democrats always benefit when the economy is bad", they say.  When the issue is war and terrorism, Senator John McCain was in the lead.

One month ago Democratic strategist Paul Maslin, who closely tracks the electoral map, thought that perhaps Democrats would win by a couple of percentage points.

At best, he thought Obama might earn a slight majority as Democrats earned in 1976, the last time the party’s presidential nominee cracked
the 50 percent barrier.

"Now it’s a whole different world," Maslin said. "The economy is way beyond 1992. In 1980, it was the Iran hostage crisis and the economy. I’ve never seen an issue take this kind of prominence."

Gallup finds that 69 percent of Americans believe the economy is the most important issue facing the nation. The second most cited issue, the war in Iraq, is named by only 11 percent of voters.
Bill Clinton’s former pollster Doug Schoen calls this the "economic tsunami."

And it’s this tsunami that has altered the electoral map in a way that Obama himself could not.
"The Obama campaign did a lot of important foundation work to expand the Democratic map. And I give them credit for that," Maslin said. "But the real expansion of the map is coming from an outside event, namely the economy, and not the tactics of the Obama campaign.

"Obama has not changed the map," Schoen said. The map has changed because, in light of the economic turmoil, "McCain has become an almost unacceptable alternative" to President Bush.

First off, before this request came down from the Bush administration to vote on a bailout bill – Senator Barack Obama was in the lead nationally and in the States he needed to be leading in.

Senator John McCain has led nationally, as far as my research shows me, only two times since the Republican convention.  Obama was leading the day the bailout was announced.

Secondly, yes the economy is bad and people think about their wallets in times like this (which usually has voters asking for tax breaks).  Both Obama and McCain are offering tax cuts for almost everyone.  And yes, they tend to blame the Party in power for the current problems of the nation.  However, keep in mind that Democrats are in charge of Congress.  Bush is in charge of the White House.  Both Parties could be blamed for some of this economic turn.

So, exactly what is causing Senator John McCain’s poll numbers to plummet?  Why is Senator Barack Obama’s campaign leaning toward a landslide?  I have three simple reasons for you; the debates, Governor Sarah Palin and Senator John McCain’s own actions for the past two months.

Voters remember hearing earlier this year, John McCain say that government should not be helping people that are losing their homes because of bad judgments.  They remember hearing and seeing McCain say, not once but several times, "The fundamentals of the economy are fine."

Voters saw how Senator McCain reacted to the bailout story.  They saw that it was Senator Obama that approached Senator McCain first, to ask about getting together and agreeing on a few criteria for a possible bailout.  They saw how Obama tried to work behind the media’s eye.  They also saw how McCain waited almost six hours that same day before responding to Obama’s phone call, only to go before the press (trying to gain political points) to claim he was suspending his campaign to go back to Washington to help solve the bailout issue.

Voters also saw and heard Senator McCain say that he wanted to delay the first debate before the American people (to possibly help explain the bailout bill to voters), claiming he wanted to give his undivided attention to the bailout bill.

Voters saw and heard Senator Barack Obama point out the fact, that a President should be able to multitask (handle more than one problem at a time), saying the debate will go on even if it ends up being a town hall meeting with just himself answering questions.

Voters then saw McCain reverse course and show up at the debate. – following Obama’s lead.

Voters saw news stories of John McCain making fun of Obama using the phone to talk to other congressional members in hopes of helping to get votes for the bailout issue – only to see proof that McCain himself spent most of his time in his Washington office – on the phone.  They heard how he had little input at the White House during that meeting.

Voters have heard John McCain repeat over several years that if he were president he’d veto any bill with pork in them – only to watch him flip flop and vote for the bailout that ended up being the final bill -- that had pork in it.  McCain then flip flopped on his own vote and said he hope the president would veto that same bill.

Voters were impressed with Governor Sarah Palin’s VP debating skills, but the next day she came out swinging and making personal attacks against Senator Barack Obama.  She insinuated that Obama was a terrorist ("pallin’ around with a domestic terrorist") because he worked on the same board as a reformed terrorist.  Palin knew Ayers did his crimes when Obama was eight years old.  She stood on the stage allowing members in the audience to call Obama a "terrorist" and for someone to yell "kill him".  She and McCain allowed supporters to use Obama's middle name to scare voters into not voting for him.

She and John both ignored the problems of the economy, their campaign deciding they would lose if the subject was the economy.

Voters have now seen that perhaps Governor Sarah Palin hasn't exactly been truthful about her roll in Troopergate.  They see how she abused her powers as Governor.

During the past two debates, voters saw that Barack Obama, could indeed, be a Commander-n-Chief.  They saw him take on a Senator of 26 years and a nationally known war hero and former POW – with calm, and with facts.  They saw Obama’s vision, his calm way of approaching problems and his demeanor toward Senator McCain

Before the General campaign, they also saw how Obama came from being virtually a no body, to beating the current Democratic Party leader, Senator Hillary (and Bill) Clinton during the primaries.

John McCain on the other hand showed confusing behavior by saying one moment that we shouldn’t have government involvement and on the other hand saying let government buy up bad housing debt.  Voters saw McCain being a rude man by refusing to even acknowledge that a fellow U.S. Senator was standing on the stage with him by his refusing to even look him in the eye during the first debate, and in the last debate, by calling Senator Obama "that one".  They saw a man on the attack instead of a man with ideas and a vision.

If John McCain hadn’t done the things I mentioned previously, John McCain would still be neck-n-neck with Barack Obama for President.  Barack Obama had too many things going up against him when he got into this campaign; his name, his race, doubts about his faith, his lack of years in Washington and his youth.  John McCain could have beaten him.

The reason Senator John McCain appears to be losing this election, is because of John McCain’s own actions and his choice for VP – not 'just because' there is a bad economy.

They also have seen a man that has a vision and is ready to lead - Barack Obama.

John McCain is not the man he once was, nor is he the ‘one’ for today’s problems.
