Michigan and Pennsylvania pullout claims by Senator McCain's campaign may just be a ploy to get Senator Obama to stop advertising in those states (believing he's ahead, why spend more money).
I sincerely hope Obama stays alert and live in those two States - as well as his own State of Illinois.
Al Gore lost his own state -- assuming they'd vote for him either way.
October 4, 2008, 10:09AM
I can't seem to find it anymore but Barack Obama use to have a animated video demo on his site that showed folks how to either register to vote or how to vote (can't remember which it was) using little block (round headed) people. It used the same coloring of his website, shades of blue and white. It was really pretty cool. It was also educational. Even a first grader would have understood it.
Anyway, my point here is, this same designer/design should be used by Obama to explain the Bailout/Rescue bill that Congress and President Bush just passed.
He could explain how things got so bad, then explain how this extra money being spent might help to stop the bleeding.
This could be used by both his Senate position as well as his campaign for President -- it's related to both.
For the campaign however, he could use the video/demo as a tool to not only show how the bailout might work, he could show his plans for the future. Such as fixing the bankruptsy laws, giving tax breaks and another stimulus package, etc...
While it may be totally different then your usual campaign ad (he could make it a 3-5 minute ad that ends up on YouTube for FREE advertising), it will also grab the attention of many in the media and show his desire to not only help us but help us to understand the situation we're in.
I'm hoping somebody else here has seen this video/demo on Obama's site and that might know where it's at now? I'd love to get a copy of it.

I see the GOP and McCain's camp is getting desperate again. Senator John McCain the once upon a time "HONORABLE" man is now getting into dirty politics. He's using babies and videos of babies to win an election.
For a man that claims to "rather lose a war, then win an election", he sure has 'changed'.
Babies Senator?
You need to use babies in videos to win sir? Is that really where you want to lead this nation sir?
Perhaps that's what you meant all along sir. Perhaps this is your new definition of "CHANGE"? Use anything and everyone to win the election.
Senator you apparently have forgotten how it felt to be treated like dirt during your campaign in 2000 up against George W. Bush. You've apparently decided to charge up the hill even if it means walking on the bodies of the injured.
Well, perhaps it's time to get a little 'dirty' ourselves.
Senator McCain, how many babies did you kill while bombing in Vietnam?
How many men, women and children died because you ended up caving and giving information to the enemy?
Or have you forgotten your 'little' indiscretions?

Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Joe Biden both did very well.
Palin's expectations were so low that even I could have passed them.
Biden stayed focused and he didn't allow Palin's constant attacks to
distract him.
Nor did he allow her pretense of being just a 'county girl taking on the big guys in Washington' bother him.
I am left with the vision, after watching Palin's debating skills, of an Infomercial saleswoman. You know the type I'm sure. "I've got a deal for you that you 'cannot' resist!"
She's smiling in the camera as though she were talking directly
to you -the customer. She giggles at something that is said or she
agrees with somebody's assessment of a situation. She nods in
understanding where you are coming from and how this idea just might
help you. She tells you that she's been there and done that. At times
she even talks in your native slang.
All the while, she giving you a wink and saying, "Come On, You Know You Want To".
Will Sarah Palin's television experience as a weather girl --
sale the McCain/Palin ticket? That remains to be seen. So far, the
CNN and CBS polls are saying NO. They say Joe Biden won the debate.
As for me, I think it was a tie. I also think political pundits
and the media have been fooled once again. I think Sarah Palin is a
fantastic actress and she proved it in her interviews prior to this
debate.
October 2, 2008, 9:19AM
I read in the paper today the following headline:
Debate Gives Palin A Chance To Come Back!
I would like to know from what? What is she coming back from? As far as I can tell she never GOT ANYWHERE?
She got added to the ticket days before the GOP convention, her sex and love for guns attracted a few more voters of their base. Those same people probably still support her.
She didn't however win the hearts and minds of Democrats or Independents.
So, could someone tell me how she can COME BACK when she's never BEEN ANYWHERE?

I keep hearing folks asking for John McCain's health records to be
released completely to the media, why hasn't anybody asked for Sarah
Palin's health records?
Is it because she 'looks' healthy and is a hunter?
After
watching the woman answer questions (or try to) on the different
interviews -- she puts me in mind of a woman that is on drugs of some
sort. Spacey if you will.
Is she on antidepressants? Is she on pain medicine? What would cause her to simply 'blank out' during interviews?
It
can't be from fear or from being frightened, she's ran as Mayor and
Governor all ready. She's an expert at campaigning and answering
questions.
So, why does she appear spaced out at times?
Let's see 'her' medical records.

You may or may not have noticed the calls of many for Governor Sarah Palin to withdraw from McCain's campaign as his vice president nominee recently. I say they should both withdraw; but mainly Senator John McCain.
He is the one that's been a total failure this past month. He's embarrassed himself several times by claiming the fundamentals of the economy are sound, then tried to clarify what he meant hours later.
Then he claimed to suspend his campaign wanting to be in Washington to work with House members only to end up talking to them over the phone (just like Obama did).
Claiming he wants to postpone the presidential debate because the crisis is more important (Obama points out a President must be able to handle more than one thing at a time). Last but not least he's out in video claiming to have solved the bailout issue while it was being voted down.
The man has failed his Party and Campaign.
He needs to bow out of the campaign claiming health issues. Either Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee should be immediately nominated to take his place. Probably Huckabee since he won the next most votes.
To finish things off, Sarah Palin should also resign using the excuse of her "troopergate" court case and her daughter's pregnancy and her own newly born Downs Syndrome baby.
Huckabee could nominate Mitt Romney as his VP.
Done.
Ok people, let's take a poll. How would Republicans and Independents handle this immediate change within less than 30 days?
I think Republicans would be pleasantly shocked.
September 30, 2008, 1:14PM
Taking a POLL with manual input:
If Joe Bide blows it Thursday night with some big mistake -- will it hurt Obama's campaign as badly as it might hurt John McCain's campaign if Sarah Palin blows i?
Opinions?
September 30, 2008, 10:06AM
Perhaps it's time for Barack Obama to come up with some examples of who's being hurt right now by this credit crunch and stock market crash.
He should come up with an average Joe and Jane, middle income wagers, that have their retirements in mutual funds and stocks.
How much have they lost so far since the White House announced the bailout plan? How much are they likely to lose if the bailout isn't settled?
Obama should also find a company (small business) that's unable to get a loan because of the credit crunch.
Small town Americans need to see and hear about examples of the common folk being hurt by this mess on Wall Street.
Only then will they rally around the bailout bill.
September 30, 2008, 9:33AM
Gas prices are shrinking a great deal lately, have you noticed?
I don't know about your area but mine in mid Illinois have dropped to about $3.48 per gallon for regular unleaded.
I haven't seen any reason for this to happen have you? I mean we're still fighting with Iraq and Afghanistan, we're still arguing with Iran and North Korea, Russia is still acting up -- so what's going on? Why the drop in price?
Do you suppose it has any to do with Election Day being just 35 days away?
Yup Yup Yup!

This is a repeat from last night - I want to be sure to have everybody see it:
There is absolutely no way members of Congress will allow their OWN
banks to go belly up. There is no way they will allow ATMS to freeze.
They 'want' their money just as badly as we all do. Even if they are
millionaires.
Remember, those that 'have' money hate 'losing
it'. Each day the stock market loses, so do they. They especially,
because that's where all their money is being accumulated.
This
whole mess is being held up for political reasons only. People are
holding back their votes in order to 'get something' they want.
Once
those wishes are met, a bill will be passed. Guess when that will be?
Friday Morning or very early Friday afternoon. Why you may ask? The
Vice Presidential Debate between Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Joe
Biden is being held the night before.
It's a known fact that
there are many conservatives very worried about Sarah Palin's
performance that night. Some have even suggested before hand that she
withdraw from the position.
If Palin does a terrible job Thursday night -- the passing of a new bill will override any 'bad news' from the Debate.
If Palin does a great job, then the bill will still be passed but just not necessarily on Friday.
Keep
in mind folks, this GOP crew (led by Karl Rove) have always 'used'
breaking news stories to 'hide' stories they'd rather not be seen.
So,
it appears that the United States Economy and Financial market
is
completely reliant on Governor Sarah Palin's performance Thursday night.

Be expecting to hear Sarah Palin suspend her debate on Thursday claiming that she and John McCain must work with the Congress to get the bailout bill acceptable for everyone concerned.
Need I remind folks of the GOP public relation ways of running things.
Something major always happens just before bad news about the administration is to be released.
So why would they play it any different now? They all fear Palin's debating skills; so what better excuse to avoid the debate altogether but that she must work with McCain's team to solve the bailout issue.
Republicans want to keep control of the White House -- they'll go along with anything that might help them do that. Don't let Palin Debate!
If she suspends or refuses to attend the debate, the media SHOULD immediately jump all over her and McCain and how McCain's suspension did nothing but 'harm' the negotiations.
Let's watch and see what these PR people will end up doing this time.

I agree with Campbell Brown of CNN. Enough with the sexist comments and warnings to Senator Joe Biden before the Vice Presidential debate.
I call upon the McCain campaign to stop treating Sarah Palin like she is a delicate flower who will wilt at any moment.
This woman is from Alaska for crying out loud. She is strong, she is
tough, she is confident. And you claim she is ready to be one heartbeat
away from the presidency. If that is the case, then end this
chauvinistic treatment of her now. Allow her to show her stuff.
All the commentators are telling their viewers that Senator Joe Biden must walk on pins and needles when taking Governor Sarah Palin on.
I want to know WHY? Why should he? She wants the job, she has to fight for it just like any other person (man or woman).
If I feel I qualify for a position I'm going to fight for it just as hard as I can. I wouldn't want somebody to 'feel sorry' for me and give me an extra 'break' just because I'm a female. Would you?
I kind of funny watching an listening to some women out there saying that a man should hold the door for a woman or allow her entrance first or he should assist her in difficult physical times --- then they flip flop and 'demand' the right to do the same job as that man.
As they say, it's a dog eat dog world -- nothing is mentioned about the 'sex' of each dog.
September 28, 2008, 12:45PM
WASHINGTON, Sept
27 (Reuters) - Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives are
pushing for a new Wall Street tax that would cover the potential costs
of a $700 billion bailout being negotiated by Congress and the Bush
administration.
"If after five years ... the CBO decides that the American
taxpayer has lost money in this, then there would be a fee on financial
institutions," Pelosi said, adding that she hoped the provision could
be part of a final bailout deal.
I think this is a great idea, if I understand its meaning. Not
knowing the final details of the package yet ($700 billion bailout);
but assuming that what I’ve read is correct, these companies that we
are bailing out (loaning money to) will be forced to treat taxpayers as
investors. If after five years, taxpayers haven’t been paid back, the companies will have an added tax (Late fee) put on them.
Company A, B and C gets bailed out. Company D, E and F do not need to be bailed out. If
in five years taxpayers have not been paid back, companies A B and C
will be forced to pay an additional tax (Late fee) until the money is
paid back in full.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. It’s the cost of running a business, a business that took out a loan and must pay it back.
What's your opinion?
