The Guardian News reports Obama Won

Obama 84% to McCain's 15.9%

The Guardian

Quick Question - Anybody notice McCain's Straining to See Somebody in Audience?

Quick question.  Did anybody notice the moment while Obama was talking and while on split screen, McCain scrunched up his eyes as though looking for somebody in the audience?

It reminded me of the famous Bush the 1st - Looking at his Watch as though bored.

Drudge Report Online Poll showing McCain won

There is a Drudge Report 2008 online poll as to who won last night -- go vote: http://www.drudgereport.com/

Instead of Obama Being the RISK -- McCain Showed He was the One To Worry About

Going into the debate last night, political pundits said that Barack Obama needed to show voters that he ISN'T a RISK.  That he is competent and prepared to lead the nation.  He did that.

Who actually ended up being the one that folks might consider a RISK -- was John McCain.

His anger, his know it all attitude, his condescending attitude, his warnings to others -- all put you in mind of a man that could 'blow' at any time.  Voters were more likely to consider John McCain a RISK to vote for.

McCain the Father Figure - Obama the Presidential Figure

John McCain came off as a smarty pants.  The bully on the block.  He was constantly on the attack and told us nothing of what ‘he’ would do, only what he claims Obama would do.  McCain was a Mr. Know It All.  He tried his best to play the ‘father’ figure.  Look son, I know better then you do.

Barack Obama came off looking like a current President would, trying to calmly tell John McCain where he was ‘wrong’ in his thinking.  He reminded me of Bush in 2004’s election debates.  While agreeing with McCain on many things, he would always point out however, where he felt McCain and Bush for that matter - have been wrong –all along.

My first expression of Obama’s actions when the debate ended was - Dam it Barack, why didn’t you attack him more?  Why didn’t you demand an explaination from McCain on what his definition of victory was in Iraq?  Why didn’t you point out that General Petraeus, McCain’s hero, said there would be no so-called ‘victory’ in Iraq.  Why didn’t you go after McCain’s veterans issues.  Why didn’t you tell folks McCain’s record with veterans groups across America.  Why didn’t you look into the camera after McCain’s ranting on Iran, North Korea and Iraq — See Folks — this is just more of the same neo-con attitude we’ve seen for the past 8 years with the Bush administration — who by the way, John McCain supported more than 90% of the time.

My first expression of McCain’s actions when the debate ended was - Get over yourself John.  There’s more to life then your 6 years as a POW.  Being a world traveler doesn’t give you some sort of ’special’ ability to run a nation.  You are so narrow minded - you seem to have one mode only — Attack.

If you liked either candidate before the debate, you probably still do.  If you question who’s more ready to be commander-n-chief you should have seen that ‘both’ are.  The only real difference is, do you want to continue down the path that we’ve been on, maybe more war, or do you want to try something different; Something that seems logical?

Do you like the way the economy’s ended up?  If so, choose the man that’s supported that path 90% of the time, otherwise choose the other guy that thinks we need to take care of the middle class first.

Polls on all the stations are saying Obama won the debate.  Except for Fox of course.  I don’t think either one won or hurt themselves to mean any big difference.

Republicans Trying to Brainwash You and Media About Upcoming Debates

The Republicans are at it again.  They're trying to make it appear that Governor Sarah Palin is "clueless" and will be a disaster during the VP debate next week.

Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as "disastrous." One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, "What are we going to do?" The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is "clueless."

They are LOWERING the BAR for her now so that if she does OK -- media will say she won or at least survived it.

This is bullwicky!  She ran for city council and mayor.  She ran for Governor of a State.  She knows how to debate.  They are acting as though she knows nothing and will mess up on every question.

Sure she's made a few boo boos during interviews, but when you consider that she's only been interviewed 4 times (compared to other candidates) -- she's doing just fine.  The only real mistake is pushing her foreign policy experience of living next to Russia.

She will do just fine next week folks.  Don't let them full you.

P.S.
They are also pushing the idea that Barack Obama will WIN tonight's debate -- even though it's suppose to be about foreign policy -- yeh right.

Yes he is good, but so is McCain.

Debate IS for the Country sir -- We Come First, Not your Campaign

I'm reposting this because I feel it needs to be said again:

John McCain's commentsThursday night,

"I believe that it's very possible that we can get an agreement in time
for me to fly to Mississippi," McCain said late Thursday. "I understand
how important this debate is and I'm very hopeful. But I also have to
put the country first
."

Senator McCain, exactly WHO do you think you would be talking to at this Debate tomorrow night?  The French, the Germans, how about the Russians?

We voters ARE your COUNTRY sir!

And we Americans are getting pretty darn tired of your campaign treating us with disdain but refusing to let reporters ask questions of your VP Sarah Palin.

We Voters have a RIGHT to ask questions of both of you.

By denying the press and media access -- you sir - are denying Voters of their rights.

This debate sir, is for the COUNTRY -- it's not just a political stunt such as the one you are currently carrying out in Washington.

To political pundits that CLAIM Americans in general don't CARE if there is a debate tonight or not --- WRONG!  We've waited for months for this to finally happen -- it's time to face the music.

McCain - If you Have a Better Econominc Plan - Fess Up, Otherwise Go Home!

A while back Keith Olbermann of Countdown on MSNBC demanded Senator John McCain 'fess up' with any information he might have as to where Osama Bin Laden is (McCain claimed to 'know' where Bin Laden was and promised to "follow him to the gates of hell") and not wait till January 20, 2009 to tell us.

Once again, we ask John McCain...if you have a better idea or plan to save our economy from going into a depression -- FESS UP!

Enough of this so-called knowledge and expertise.  If you've got the goods - hand them over.

Did you give your plan to the Bush administration?

Did you give your plan to the Senate or House?

If not -- why not?

If you have no plan then either get out of the way and let those that think they do have one, get it going or join the crowd and get your party to support it.

Bill Clinton is TRYING His Level Best to Hurt Obama

ABC News' Nitya Venkataraman Reports: Former President Bill Clinton defended Sen. John McCain's request to delay the first presidential debate, saying McCain did it in "good faith" and pushed organizers to reserve time for economy talk during the debate if the Friday plans move forward….

"We know he didn't do it because he's afraid because Sen. McCain wanted more debates," Clinton said, adding that he was "encouraged" by the joint statement from McCain and Sen. Barack Obama.

"You can put it off a few days the problem is it's hard to reschedule those things," Clinton said, "I presume he did that in good faith since I know he wanted -- I remember he asked for more debates to go all around the country and so I don't think we ought to overly parse that."

If the debate moves forward as planned for Friday night, Clinton says "they should be able to talk about this some of the debate because it is a security issue."

Barack Obama needs to put President Bill Clinton on notice.  Either you are ‘with’ us or you’re ‘against’ us – which is it?  It appears from current interviews you are ‘against’ us.  Because of that --- Thanks but No thanks to your help.

McCain Trying to Wiggle Out of Debates?

John McCain, had you ever heard of a teleconference?  It is the live exchange and mass articulation of information among persons and machines remote from one another but linked by a telecommunications system, usually over the phone line; Sometimes called telesiminars.

What this means is Senator, you and other Senators and Representatives can communicate with one another from anywhere in the world – face to face – without having to travel to Washington D.C. to do so.

This whole bailout situation is suspicious.  It’s apparently been known that our economy wasn’t very stable or Secretary Paulson wouldn’t have been putting forth new and updated regulatory system months ago.

Why didn’t Americans get told about this when they first found the problems?  Instead they keep it hush-hush till just 5 weeks before Election Day.  Only to now come out saying it’s going to force a depression if we wait past this Friday to sign this bailout bill.  Friday as you may or may not know is when Congress ends this years session and goes home to run for office again.

John McCain suspended his campaign saying he was needed back in Washington even though most folks involved with the talks over the bailout are saying a deal is very close already.  McCain’s even went so far as to say he thinks they should delay the debate Friday night and the VP’s debate next week.

You get the feeling John McCain is avoiding facing the music on the economy in front of a million people Friday night.

Senator Obama -- Do Not Back Down --- Go Before the Voters Friday Night

Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain NEED to come before the American people Friday night and tell them what is going on and how they feel about the whole issue.

Now is the time to EXPLAIN to Americans what is involved.

This isn't JUST about a DEBATE -- it's about American's seeing the two men, one of which, will be America's leader in 3 months.  It's about hearing their opinions and vision for the future.

The debating of a BILL can be done over phone lines, computers and video conference -- these Senators do not have to BE in Washington to solve problems.  They can fly there when it comes to a vote.

John McCain must face the American people Friday night as planned.  He apparently is afraid to face the voters having made a mess of his opinions about the economic crisis.

Senator Obama -- do NOT back down - go to the American People and talk to them Friday night -- even if John McCain runs off to Washington.

Bailout Bill a Cover For North Korea Pulling out of Deal?

With all the news about the economy, stock markets and the bailouts -- very little is being said about North Korea pulling out of their nuke deal AGAIN.

VIENNA - North Korea barred U.N. nuclear inspectors from its main nuclear reactor on Wednesday and within a week plans to reactivate the plant that once provided the plutonium for its atomic test explosion, the chief U.N. nuclear inspector said.

The North ordered the removal of the U.N. seals and surveillance equipment from the Yongbyon reactor, a sign it is making good on threats to restart a nuclear program that allowed it to conduct a test explosion two years ago.

Is this one of those DISTRACT the media scenarios?  Everytime something looks bad, the Bush administration passes along different news or demands a new bill be passed.

It doesn't look good for Bush to have North Korea pull out of any deal right now -- he promised to control them and so far he hasn't.

There goes Bush's ratings...dropping yet again.

Campbell Brown Doing McCain a Favor or Doing Her Job?

I know this has been reported on previously, I'm just adding my two cents as to why Campbell Brown might have said these words....

In a fiery commentary, Campbell Brown laid into John McCain for casting a "chauvinistic chain" that ran over his running mate. Punctuated by a call to "Free Sarah Palin,"

"Tonight I call on the McCain campaign to stop treating Sarah Palin like she is a delicate flower that will wilt at any moment," said Brown. "This woman is from Alaska for crying out loud. She is strong. She is tough. She is confident. And you claim she is ready to be one heart beat away form the presidency. If that is the case, then end this chauvinistic treatment of her now. Allow her to show her stuff. Allow her to face down those pesky reporters... Let her have a real news conference with real questions. By treating Sarah Palin different from the other candidates in this race, you are not showing her the respect she deserves. Free Sarah Palin. Free her from the chauvinistic chain you are binding her with. Sexism in this campaign must come to an end. Sarah Palin has just as much a right to be a real candidate in this race as the men do. So let her act like one."

While I do not support John McCain or Sarah Palin – this attack made by Campbell has me puzzled.  While I agree with the premise of the attack, where the attack comes from worries me.

Campbell Brown is known to have a Republican attitude when she’s interviewing visitors to her show.  Whether she’s interviewing a Democrat or Republican, she will either play devil’s advocate with the Democrat or give a little boost to a Republican visitor with comments of her own.

This is why I am worried.  Why would Campbell Brown, of all people, attack HER party preference?

Is she just going for the jugular to gain fame?  Or is there some plot by McCain’s camp to use Campbell as a tool to get a ‘message’ out there?

She is strong.  She is tough.  She is confident.  Allow her to show her stuff. Allow her to face down those pesky reporters... Let her have a real news conference with real questions.

If you’re sitting on the fence trying to decide whether you support McCain/Palin because you just aren’t ‘sure’ about Palin – would these words affect your doubts about her?  I’m sure they would – especially coming from Campbell Brown (a woman, a reporter and a fellow Republican).

Campbell gets credit either way.  She’ll be praised for standing up to McCain’s camp, men in general, politicians, other reporters and the ever famous -- chauvinistic chain.

What do you think?  Is this just Campbell being angry that McCain’s camp is insulting the media or is she taking this a step further?  Is she doing McCain and GOP a favor?

Friday's Debate Will be About John McCain - Not Foreign Policy

Don’t be led astray folks.  The Presidential debate on Friday will be about foreign policy, not the economy.

Political pundits and news commentators are predicting the foreign policy debate will revert to a debate on the economy.  While it might be mentioned as a reason to reconsider our current foreign policies – the economy won’t be ‘the’ story that night.

It will be John McCain’s night in the light.  As it always is, McCain’s longest living home (Hanoi) will be mentioned.  His broken bones will be shown or talked about once again.  We’ll hear about his years of pursuing a cause greater then himself.  His family’s military history will be acknowledged as well as his years in Congress.

The debate will be about 9/11, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea, Russia, Georgia and those that have died or been permanently injured by war.  It will be about John McCain’s military service.

If Barack Obama or Jim Lahrer try and bring up the economy issue and how it pertains to our foreign policy – John McCain will remind us, yet again, that he had no kitchen table to sit at in Hanoi -- to discuss paying the bills.

I predict that we will hear at the words, “my friends” at least 10-14 times that night from John McCain.  I also predict we’ll hear the words “extreme Islamic radicals” at least 6 times that evening.  We’ll hear about the bombing in Yemen and in Pakistan.  The word ‘surge’ will be mentioned several times too.

Barack Obama will need to refer to the words of the Generals in Iraq when he is accused of not admitting that the ‘surge’ worked.  Obama will need to tell Americans what Lt. Gen. Lloyd Austin said yesterday about the
“The Sons of Iraq which include former insurgents and ex-Saddam Hussein loyalists. Their decision to join the fight against the terrorists has been credited as a a key cause for the decline in violence, especially in areas where al-Qaida and other Sunni militants once ruled.”

He might also say something like spraying around the kitchen sink for bugs will most likely stop the initial onslaught of bugs in that area; but unless you spray the whole house, you’ll continue to have bugs.

Unless the political side of Iraq’s problems is solved, the fighting will continue.

If experience is brought up, which I’m sure it will be, all Obama needs to do is remind American’s of our current ‘experienced’ administration and where they’ve led us.

But let there be no doubt what Friday’s debate will be about – John McCain’s service to his country.

Replace Economy words with Iraq and War - Think Back to Oct 11, 2003

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Monday said negotiators were making "good headway" on legislation to provide an unprecedented $700 billion bailout of financial markets and that he was confident a measure to prevent lasting damage to the economy could be enacted.

"Failure to act would have broad consequences far beyond Wall Street. It would threaten small business owners and homeowners on Main Street," Bush said in a statement.

Replace Economy with Iraq and war.

Bush/Cheney forced Congress's hand on Oct 11, 2002 also - remember?  He got them to sign onto the war with Iraq resolution.

He used the Election 2003 to get them to vote FOR IT.  And they did - fearing they'd be called WEAK on defense otherwise.

They are once again doing it - forcing Congress's hand to get broader authority before Nov 4th election day.

Polls gallor by Friday's Debate

A word of warning to those excited over Barack Obama's polling showing him in the lead or tied with John McCain.

Debate # 1 is on Friday.

There are some organizations out there that want to give the impression that Obama is leading by a greater margin then he really is -- simply because they hope that if he 'should happen' to do badly on Friday at the debate, and his polls drop a few points --- it will give the appearance that he lost 'big time'.

If he's running neck and neck with McCain and does badly -- his polls may show a slight drop (ex: 47 McCain to 45 Obama) -- but reporters will be less likely to say "he's finished" -- as they might if he dropped from say 50% today, down to 47 vs 47 McCain by Saturday morning.

We'll be seeing all sorts of polls coming out just before Friday's debate.  You can bet they will most likely favor Obama.

Just be aware that whatever happens on Friday --- doesn't mean he did especially well or badly.  The truth will show about a week later - not immediately.

Sarah Palin the Celebrity -- 60,000 in Florida -- where are the Ads Making Fun of Her Fame?

Sarah Palin (not McCain) drew about 60,000 in a Florida rally today.

So....where are the CELEBRITY ADS from the Obama team -- tit-for-tat time?

She makes a GOOD speech?

It's odd that Republican's (you know -- those that supposedly thrive on their Moral Values) would be so willing to RUN to this woman and man.  Both of whom have been found to have LIED several times over the past few weeks.

Lying is SUPPOSE to be a SIN?

I guess that doesn't matter with Republicans anymore.

Too bad.
