Week of April 27, 2008 - May 3, 2008

Think Maybe CNN, FOX - support Hillary Clinton or McCain for Pres?

Ya think maybe cable news stations and magazines favor Hillary Clinton or John McCain for President?

If you had any doubt as to whom they support, all you need do is watch what they've been covering or talking about this weekend - before the Tuesday 'game changer' as Hillary calls it.

CNN has been showing the following stories:

It Won't Be the Economy Stupid -- It will be National Security

The 2008 Election this fall will be about National Security -- Not the economy as many are predicting.

I say that because of the news we got this week that the economy actually grew by 0.6 percent in the first quarter of this year, the same as it was during the last quarter of 2007.

I also say that because President George W. Bush is out there in the public pushing that the economy is not in a recession and that we’ve always survived these slumps.

I said back in March that we had a recession; but that the two quarters were the end of 2007 and the first of this year.  We are pulling out of it now.

I realize that the Commerce Department says that statistic did not meet what economists consider a definition of a recession, which is a contraction of the economy. This means that although the economy is stuck in a rut, it is still managing to grow, even if slightly.

I can’t count the number of times however, that we’ve only later found out that those statistics have been revised and now show something different.  Sometime in 2009 we will be told that we, did indeed, have a recession.

Meanwhile, while the Democrats are talking about the economy today and planning on it being the number one issue in the fall; the GOP are preparing instead, for a fight about our national security -- again.

By the time October comes around gas prices will have dropped once again to something more ‘acceptable’ to Americans (probably around $3.00 mark – even though that’s almost triple what it was in 2000 when Bush took office).  Heating and air condition bills will also drop because of it being fall.  Food prices will drop because of the lowered gas prices.

General Petraeus (not sure if this will be his replacement instead or not) is supposed to return to Congress to make an Iraq ‘surge’ report in September or October.  He will most likely report a plan to withdraw some more troops.

President Bush of course, will give a press conference saying the ‘surge worked’.  "We are bringing 20,000 troops home to their families by Christmas time."

Take note however, bringing home 20-30,000 troops will put us back to the level we were at in January of 2007.

The President, the GOP and Senator John McCain will benefit from all of it.  They will be able to claim the economy is getting stronger, tax cuts worked, rebates worked.  They’ll claim the ‘surge’ worked, troops are coming home.  We are winning in Iraq.

If the Democratic nominee (most likely Barack Obama) is able to pull out a win in November, it will have to be a discussion on the failed policies of the Republican Party, national security failures, foreign policy and universal health care and 'change' in Washington; Somewhat like it’s been over the past 8 years of elections.

In the end, if Barack Obama wins in November, which I think he will, he will need to tread softly with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The Bush administration will be purposely pushing a ‘We are Winning’ message over the Summer and Fall.

If President Obama should make a few mistakes and things temporally get worse or things don’t improve over the next 4 years – it will be the Democratic Party’s ‘failure’ to ‘win these wars’.  History will say that we were ‘winning in Iraq’ when Bush left office.  Things got worse when Democrats took over.

I personally think we will be forced to stay in the Middle East for years to come.

The Bush administration put us there for that exact reason.  As John McCain said yesterday – it’s about Oil.

So my fellow Democrats or Independents -- wake up.  It won't be a fight about the economy -- it will be national security.

Evan Bayh Memo Blames Clintons For Indiana Plant Closing

Sounds like Senator Evan Bayh, Hillary and Bill Clinton will have some explaining to do on Sunday during her townhall meeting with George Stepenopolis on ABC.

memo from Evan Bayh has surfaced in which Bayh blames the Clinton's for the closing of the Magnequench plant in Vapraiso, Indiana, and this memo is due to hit the presses tomorrow.  Hillary's been campaigning for 2 weeks on this plant closing, blaming it on Bush, and that this had been effective tactic for her.

Opps...
Looks like Hillary's little credibility problem is about to surface again, and not a moment too soon I might add.

Hillary Are You SURE you are a Democrat? Gas Bill

It’s been confirmed that Hillary will be going forward with her plan to introduce the gas tax holiday legislation.

So, is this what is called Hillary's WAY OF NEGOTIATING with both sides of the isle?

Jamming a bill down legislature’s throat’s even though most have announced they are against it?

She's not only ready and willing to hurt Barack Obama's nomination chances during this campaign; she's willing to make her own Party look badly in the eyes of the voters if they don't pass it.

Not Bad Hillary -- are you SURE you are a Democrat?

Dean Announces Dem Primary Winner on Daily Show -- Sort'a

Did you catch it?  Did you watch the interview of Howard Dean DNC by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night?  Howard Dean pretty much announced the Winner of the Democratic Primary – Barack Obama

At the very end of the interview, Dean says something like, “We have a chance of winning North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina.”

Guess who WON two of those States and is about to win the third win next Tuesday?  Barack Obama.

Political Pundits Have Become Infomercials - Selling One Product

Do I have a sale for you....Barack Obama Scandals!

I’ve just watched an hour of ‘Race for the White House’ with David Gregory and an hour watching Hardball with Chris Matthews.  They both spent their entire hour discussing Barack Obama.

They discussed either the Reverend Wright issue (Will the issue go away, they asked?  Well DUH?).  They discussed his interview with the ‘Today’ show (will it help make the Wright story go away? Well DUH?).  They discussed the Indiana/North Carolina primaries being held next Tuesday (will the Wright story hurt Obama? Well Duh?).  They discussed the polls and how they appear to show the Wright story ‘has indeed’ hurt Obama.  Well Duh?

I then turned to Lou Dobbs on CNN.  They too were discussing Obama and his Reverend.  Lou got to discussing a photo of Michelle and Barack sitting on a picnic table speaking to voters.  Someone said Michelle looked angry.  Lou implied the photo was very ‘telling’ (not a quote).  That is bologna.  Tired maybe, sad maybe, but ‘not’ angry.  What is it with these media people?

Soon after that I watched a portion of a CNN Election Center with Campbell Brown.  Is it me or does she appear to be a little bit like a Fox interrogator?  They too were talking about Barack Obama, but included a bit about Hillary.  One guest said that Hillary needed to win both North Carolina and Indiana or she was out of the race.  Campbell immediately stepped in saying something like, not really, it’s always been assumed that Obama would win in North Carolina and Hillary’s brought that race close.

The only show on television that was showing any good news about Barack Obama and any 'other' news was Countdown with Keith Olbermann.  He pointed out the polls that showed Obama still ahead in North Carolina.  He pointed out the number of delegates Obama got today as well as Hillary’s count and how many Obama’s gotten since Super Tuesday in Febrary.  Keith showed part of the interview where Obama explains some of his feelings about this ‘big state’ strategy that Hillary and the media are claiming proves he can’t ‘close Hillary out’.

What happened tonight is not unusual.  It's been happening for a few weeks now, more so this week.

We’ve heard very little about Hillary Clinton and the news about her losing a very important superdelegate.  We’ve heard nothing about the new evidence that she’s lied about the company that closed down in Indiana being the fault of her own husband.  We hear no more on her lie about her Bosnia trip.  She had to apologize once and all is forgiven?  That’s fair and balanced….NOT.  We here nothing about her interview with O'Reilly 'except' what she thought about the Wright issue of course.  What about the story of her Senior Aide Caught Distributing Right-Wing Obama Attacks For Months?

I didn’t hear anything about the person John McCain fired for having ties to Hezbella – accept on Countdown.  Very little about his wife lifting recipes and claiming they were hers.  Very little about McCain’s flip flopping on tax cuts.  How about what 'his' pastor friend Hagee said today?

We hit a 7 month high in deaths in Iraq.  Did you know that?  We also hit the anniversary for Mission Accomplished by Bush, did you know that?  Nope, guess not.  Barack's scandal is more important.

Remember that girl (Natalee Ann Holloway) that ended up missing in Aruba almost three years ago?  Remember how the media stayed on that story for weeks, into months?  She was brought back into the story line just last month I believe.  Nothing personal toward the girl, but the media acted as though time had stopped at this girls disappearance.

Well – that’s what’s happening with Barack Obama’s story.

It’s Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama…and by the way….Obama again.

If Saturday Night Live wants a GOOD sketch – they sure have one now.  I’m betting however, they won’t do one.  They LIKE the Hillary story line better.  Poor Hillary.

I’m a Obama fan and have been from the start.  Even if the news about him was all GOOD news, I wouldn’t support this kind of repeated nonsense.  I don't know about you but I want a little bit of news about 'everything', not just one topic.

These people have turned into INFOMERCIALS selling one product:  Barack Obama's Scandal

Can somebody, anybody tell me of a news hour, political talk show that talked about something other than Barack Obama?  Other than Countdown which I respect dearly.  If there is one – I want to change the station to them when it's time.

This video is the whole Democratic Primary in about 7 minutes.  They get it pretty darn exact.  Take the time and watch it.  Kind of neat how they do it.

D.C. Madam Committed Suicide - Sounds Odd

DEVELOPING STORY: Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the 52-year-old woman known as the "D.C. Madam," is believed to have committed suicide at her mother's home in a trailer park in the Tampa area, Tarpon Springs Police told FOXNews.com.

Palfrey was found guilty on April 15 by a D.C. jury of racketeering and money laundering related to her operating a house of prostitution. Palfrey had threatened to reveal the names of her clients — many believed to be high-profile political and business figures — if prosecutors went forward with their case.

Kind of makes you wonder.....who wanted/needed her dead?

Obama Speaks Truth About Gas Prices

Barack Obama - Speaks the Truth about gas prices!  Watch his video.

Here's 'my' idea to help 'some' with the cost of gas:

No more gimmicks, no more temporary measures, give us real solutions to the price of gasoline.

Offer Americans Tax deductions for car pooling.

If you do the driving and have one or more riders for at least 13 weeks (or 65 days) out of the year, you will get a $2,500 tax deduction.  If you are a rider for that same amount of time, you will get a $1,500 tax deduction.   The reason for the difference between the driver and rider is car maintenance.

You will not only be saving money throughout the year, you will be getting money back at the end of the year.  When it comes time to report to the IRS, all you need do is provide the proper form with the name(s) of the driver and/or rider(s), along with the dates they car pooled.

Americans that car pool this way, will most likely be helping the price of oil to drop in the long run; less demand, less cost.  Oil consumption would drop a great deal with even a third of drivers doing this across America.

Less demand, less cost and reduced vehicle emissions.

Telling Americans what they 'need' to hear not what they 'want' to hear.

This is a REAL SOLUTION and not just a temporary one.

Dam the Media for Ignoring Real News!

Today we hear about a video with Hillary Clinton blaming President Bush for an American company in Indiana that laid off all its workers after it was sold to the Chinese government.  "The President has the authority to veto that kind of a move," Hillary said today.  However, it’s been reported that the sale was approved by the Clinton administration. Several Indiana residents are griping about the Clinton administration's role in letting these jobs get away. It's the sort of tale that could have resonance among struggling working class voters in the state.

Barack Obama received 3 super delegate endorsements to Hillary’s 2.  Obama trails Clinton by just 21 superdelegates, 243-264, cutting her lead in half in less than two months. This week, he picked up seven delegates to her four.

Al-Qaida has rebuilt some of its pre-Sept. 11 capabilities from remote hiding places in Pakistan, leading to a major spike in attacks last year in that country and neighboring Afghanistan, the Bush administration said Wednesday.

Attacks in Pakistan more than doubled from 375 to 887 between 2006 and 2007, and the number of fatalities jumped by almost 300 percent from 335 to 1,335, the State Department said in its annual terrorism report.

In Afghanistan, the number of attacks rose 16 percent, to 1,127 incidents last year, killing 1,966 people, 55 percent more than the 1,257 who died in 2006, it said.

Over the past several days, some of the nation's leading economic and political pundits have weighed in critically on the proposal of both Sens. Hillary Clinton and John McCain to institute a gas tax holiday this summer.

Paul Krugman of the New York Times said on Tuesday that Clinton's idea, while less "evil" than McCain's, was still "pointless" and "disappointing."

One day later, Tom Friedman, also of the Times, called the idea "so ridiculous...it takes your breath away."

Those are just a few ‘real’ news details that your political pundits should be talking about.  Perhaps by doing so you might convince us that you are actually good reporters.

O'Reilly - Put Hillary On the Hot Seat, It's HER Turn

Apparently Hillary Clinton will be appearing on The O’Reilly Show tonight.  I wonder if he will do what most reporters of today have refused to do that being ask the hard questions.

Will he talk about the Bosnia lie and why Americans can now believe her after having admitting to lying to them just as Bill Clinton did?

Will he ask her why she claims to be against NAFTA but most records show the opposite.

Will he he ask about her affiliation with the Black Panthers and other extremists in her early years.

Will he ask her what she will do to control her husband since she doesn’t seem to be able to during her campaign.

Saturday Night Live was able to bring ‘life’ back into Hillary’s campaign after those sketches of the media attacking her but being really nice to Barack Obama.  Isn’t it about time they do the same favor to Barack Obama, by the way?

Will he ask Hillary if she continues to think the media has been unfair to her.

She’s got a lot of baggage coming with her if she wins this nomination, which most doubt will happen.  How will she respond when videos of Monica and Bill, Vince Foster, or Whitewater start showing up again?

It’s Hillary’s turn to be on the hot seat for awhile -- don't ya think?

Give Obama His Due! It's Time Supers

As Barack Obama said today, “Enough”; it’s time to put this baby to bed and get on with the people’s business.

Barack Obama has shown us today the way in which he will negotiate and handle problems during his presidency.  He will first give you the benefit of the doubt and accept what you say or promise to do.  He will push hard for your cause and try to convince folks it’s the right thing to do or accept; but if you cross the line one too many times, by lying, stealing, stepping on his toes or by abusing your powers, he will indeed -- stop you like a freight train.

Barack Obama stood by his man; some would say too long, some will say not long enough.  Obama could have walked away a month ago but chose instead to stick with his pastor, Reverend Wright.  Obama used the man’s plight or anguish to try and make a better person out of the rest of us by speaking to racism that still exists in America, both from white and black Americans.

The Reverend decided that Vengeance is MINE, saith HE!  After being on television off and on for 48 hours and saying nothing but things that remind us of our past sins and forgetting the progress that has been made since those times – the Reverend put himself above the rest of America.

At today’s press conference, Barack Obama, I believe our next President of these United States, stood at the podium and denounced the pastor’s words and the man.  You could see that he was hurting and at the same time angry and disappointed in his pastor.  Even while disowning him, Barack continued to understand where the Reverend was coming from with his words – but he just could no longer accept the hate that he was pushing the last few days.  “That’s not what I’m about”, he said.

It’s time to move on my fellow Americans.  This whole Democratic nominee process has gone on way too long.  Let’s end this whole mess and get on with the people’s business – Finally --- PLEASE.

I am begging the super delegates to support Barack Obama for President.  He’s won the delegates, the popular votes, 30 contests out of 45 and he’s drawn more new voters than in any other time in our history.  He’s worked very hard to get where he is today.  He took on the Democratic machine of the Clintons and the Party establishment as a relatively unknown and has WON.

Give him his due!

Is Hillary Behind Arranging Rev. Wright's Press Conference yesterday?

Is this true?  My God if it is, Hillary Clinton should be ran off her campaign IMMEDIATELY!  She is sabbatoging Barack Obama (and possibly the Democratic Party's) chances of winning in November.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright couldn't have done more damage to Barack Obama's campaign if he had tried. And you have to wonder if that's just what one friend of Wright wanted.

Shortly before he rose to deliver his rambling, angry, sarcastic remarks at the National Press Club Monday, Wright sat next to, and chatted with, Barbara Reynolds.

A former editorial board member at USA Today, she runs something called Reynolds News Services and teaches ministry at the Howard University School of Divinity. (She is an ordained minister).

It also turns out that Reynolds - introduced Monday as a member of the National Press Club "who organized" the event - is an enthusiastic Hillary Clinton supporter

On a blog linked to her Web site- www.reynoldsnews.com- Reynolds said in a February post: "My vote for Hillary in the Maryland primary was my way of saying thank you" to Clinton and her husband for the successes of Bill Clinton's presidency.

The same post criticized Obama's "Audacity of Hope" theme: "Hope by definition is not based on facts," wrote Reynolds. It is an emotional expectation. Things hoped for may or may not come. But help based on experience trumps hope every time."

In another blog entry, Reynolds gives an ever-sharper critique of Obama: "It is a sad testimony that to protect his credentials as a unifier above the fray, the senator is fueling the media characterization that Rev. Dr. Wright is some retiring old uncle in the church basement."...

Anybody that calls theirselves a reporter should immediately ask Hillary Clinton and members of her campaign, along with Bill Clinton if they had anything to do with this.  If so, Hillary Clinton should immediately be kicked out of this campaign and Super Delegates should endorse Barack Obama.  They are trying to sabbatoge the Democratic Party's chances of winning in November.

I Think Obama's Church Has Left Him

I sure feel sorry for Barack Obama.  In the beginning he was being attacked because of what his pastor said during sermons that he did not hear.  After denouncing those statements, Obama was criticised for not doing more, like walking away from his church.

Now his pastor seems to be out for payback.  Attacking Obama for saying what he said.  Saying Obama said those things 'just' because he's a politician.

How dare he....the Pastor apparently has forgotten these famous words, "avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."

It isn't Barack Obama's fault the media, GOP and Hillary have attacked the pastor's words and put them in the limelight.  Obama didn't denounce his pastor, just the words mentioned in videos.

On one hand the reverend says this isn't about politics, Obama, Hillary or McCain, on the other hand he seems to be saying DAM YOU ALL for treating me and the church this way, and personally warning Obama if he should win the oval office what is to come.

While I can understand the anger of a 'normal' man if treated like the Pastor has been treated after his many years of service for his nation; but this man is a clergy of the church.  He's making this personal --Vengeance is mine saith HE.

After the speech at the NAACP last night, I was impressed by the intelligence of the pastor and I said so publically.  Today after hearing the pastor's comments during the National Press Club, I can no longer support the pastor.

Obama no longer has to worry about leaving his church, his church has left him.

I sincerely hope voters can see 'through' this pastor and what his real goal appears to be -- get a little more fame, meanwhile, try and destroy Obama's career.

Obama vs Wallace: Comments That Show True Essence of the Man

There was one area of answers among all those Barack Obama gave during the Chris Wallace Foxnews interview that stood out for me.  It showed the true character of this man.

Chris Wallace asked Obama the following:  What mistakes have you made? What have you learned about running for president? What have you learned about yourself?

OBAMA: I’ve learned that I have what I believe is the right temperament for the presidency. Which is, I don’t get too high when I’m high and I don’t get too low when I’m low. And we’ve gone through all kinds of ups and downs.

People forget now that I had been written off last summer. People were writing many of the anguished articles that they’re not writing after our loss in Pennsylvania. On the other hand, after Iowa, when everybody was sure this was over, I think I was more measured and more cautious.

That I think is a temperamental strength.

In terms of what I’ve learned or mistakes that I’ve made, I’m making them all the time and usually it has to do with me talking too much instead of listening. And what I’ve also learned is how much I’ve missed my family and my kids and my wife and that’s been the biggest hardship of this campaign.

I knew I’d miss them but sometimes you’re just - physically you need those two little girls in your arms and that’s something I’m looking to fix in the months to come.

Being able to handle your emotions during the ups and downs of life, being able to admit you’ve made mistakes and will again.  And last but not least – showing your love for your family and admitting that they are ‘number one’ in your life – shows the true essence of the man.

Hillary Wasting Hours Pushing For a New Sporting Event:Debate

Hillary Clinton and her surrogates are constantly pushing for more debates with Barack Obama before the Indiana and North Carolina primaries.  Her latest push has been to offer taking him on with a Lincoln vs. Douglas type of debate, just the two of them with no commentators.

We need a reality check here.

First off, there have already been 21 debates between the Democrats running for office.  That’s more than in any other time in the Democratic Primary history.

Secondly, perhaps Hillary Clinton would help herself better by talking to voters one on one about what she plans on doing for them instead of spending so much time trying pushing for a new debate.

We’ve seen at least 5 days worth of stories where Hillary’s made arguments for having another debate.  It’s a well known fact that ‘losers’ push for debates, winners put limits to the amount and type of debates that happen.

Hillary Clinton by her own admission every day, by pushing for more debates, is admitting that she is ‘losing' the Democratic nomination’.

One thing is clear from the start.  Hillary is a pro when it comes to debating.  She was a champion at it during her debating years in college.  Being a good debater doesn’t make you a good candidate for the Presidency of the United States however.

Talking to the voters, giving them what they need to hear to make clear decisions, and not what they want to hear, and helping them help themselves -- is what makes a good president.

Hillary’s only chance of winning is by somehow tripping Barack Obama up during another debate.

Obama and voters aren’t stupid.  They know that’s her ultimate goal.  Hillary – do yourself and voters a favor.  Tell us what you plan on doing for us if you win this nomination instead of spending hours of trying to produce, yet another sporting event on television.
