Bush/Maliki: The Last Two Optimists?

Bush made another of his "Iraq-Is-Gonna-Work-Out-Fine" speeches again this morning.  Meanwhile, here in the real world...  A State Department worker died of injuries suffered in one of the many mortar and rocket attacks of the past few days in the safest place in Iraq:  The Green Zone!

Al Sadr's militia is once again ready to fight.  Al Maliki, Bush's puppet in Iraq, vowed today to fight to the end!

Well, as the sign carried by the homeless guy on the corner reads:  "The End Is Near!"

The "President" of Iraq says his "army" will fight 'til the end!

It reminds me of the scene from "Braveheart" when William Wallace's fellow fighter who claims to OWN Ireland says not to worry about the Irish as they are running and screaming toward Wallace's forces.  Just as they reach each other, the Irish and Scots stop in the center of the battlefield.  Laugh, shake hands, greet each other happily then, in unison, both forces turn to defeat Longshanks stunned supporters.

Think about it...  The Iraqi "army" under the flawed leadership of Maliki who has sold his nationalism to Bush for cash and "players to be named later," flooding toward Basra to fight their countrymen to the "end."  Sound plausible to you?

I'm afraid our "Idiot-In-Chief" is about to be shown how truly flawed his surge strategy was.  More Americans will be wounded and killed as Iraqis turn as one to fight for their nation.  Who could have figured such a thing?

Then again, using the words "Bush" and "Strategy" in the same sentence was probably not wise given the history of this administration's handling of foreign affairs.

4,000 And Counting

Those of us who have been paying attention to "Bush's" folly in Iraq know the cost has been too great to comprehend.  But this poignant story from one who serves there brings it home in a way we can't:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20080326/wl_time/therealmeaningof4000dead

The American death toll is tragic but think of the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who have been slaughtered.  Think about the 30,000+ Americans who have catastrophic injuries.  The cost of this war is not easy to comprehend for most Americans.

As the Lt. who spoke in the story above says so eloquently, "It's about personal losses to those who are serving.  4,000 is just a number."  But the 8 and 3 he talks about are personal tragedies he will live with as long as he lives.

Al Sadr is fighting again.  Bush's puppet, Maliki, has given him 72 hours to stop.  I'm certain that will work.  I'm sure Al Sadr's militia are trembling as they engage the frightening Iraqi military.  As that Iraqi military turns and runs or melts back into their individual sects and militias to once again kill each other, Maliki and Bush will be shown to be the failures they are.  Their policies of arrogance and incompetence will be exposed to the world again.

Unbelievably there are still 25%+ who think Bush/Cheney are competent.  That should frighten the other 75% more than Al Queda.

Bottomless Pit

When Dick "The Monster" Cheney was asked last
week by a TV reporter, "Do you realize that over 2/3 of the American
people disapprove of the war in Iraq?"

Cheney's response:  "SO!"

That's how arrogant this administration has always been.

This
weekend marked another milestone in the tragedy of "Bush's Folly."
With the death of 4 more American troops from an IED in southern
Baghdad, the toll has now reached at least 4,000 with no end in sight.

http://news.yahoo.com/...

John McCain has said he doesn't mind if we continue to occupy Iraq for 50 to 100 years!

An Associated Press reporter made a statement this weekend which brought the shocking reality of Iraq home to me when he said:  "The parents of the last soldier to die in the Iraq war hasn't been born yet!"  THE PARENTS haven't been born yet!  If he was right, and if Bush/Cheney, Haliburton and the corporate greed which took us into this quagmire have their way, that statement will become reality and at least 3 generations of brave young Americans will die in that Hell hole.

Nothing can bring back those 4,000 human beings to their families.  Nothing can change the fact that America's reputation has become that of a country which condones torture.  Nothing can change the future for the 30,000+ who have been horribly wounded or the 100,000+ who will suffer the consequences of PTSD brought on by repeated tours in Bush's war.

I wish I had the answer.  Unfortunately the only good "answer" was not to invade a sovereign nation in the first place.  But it's too late for that.

I am stunned when I see the lack of coverage of this failure in Iraq.  It has fallen off the radar screen of media.  Replaced by an economy which is crumbling because of the very policies which took us into this TRILLION dollar debacle, Americans have been hypnotized into a state of inattention.

Meanwhile, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Libby, Rove and the rest will continue to prosper as our country struggles to regain its stature in the world.  This is the worst administration in the history of our country in so many ways.  I hope "We The People" can regain control of this nation and make certain that history is accurately written so this kind of tragedy NEVER happens again.
