How Low Can You Go?

The “Limbo” song lyric asks: “How Low Can You Go?” That seems to be a valid question for FED Chairman Ben Bernanke these days. He hinted yesterday about another lowering of the prime rate which, again, sunk the value of the United States dollar to a new low.

The mortgage bankers received a bailout which kept the obscenely inflated stock market from the inevitable crash last month. Bernanke cut rates twice during that period which stopped declines temporarily.

How long can multi-billionaires and Bush cronies continue to manipulate our markets to keep the inevitable from happening? How low can the dollar go? How low can the prime rate go? Mr. Bernanke only has a few points left before he reaches our “ground zero” financially. It will set a new precedent if he reduces the prime rate into the negative. Although it would definitely spark the economy if the wealthy Americans and corporate interests who benefit from the lower prime rate could borrow money without interest. I guess when the prime rate reaches -.1, the government would pay the wealthiest Americans to borrow money. Interesting development!

The problem with continuing to pump air into the Titanic is: IT'S TEMPORARY! The gash in the hull of the American mortgage system can't be repaired. More water continues to flow in than the Bush billionaires can pump out. Foreclosures, $4 per gallon gasoline (spurred by $100 per barrel costs) and the continued corruption, arrogance and greed of this administration can't be repaired with rate cuts. Buoyancy of our financial institutions can't be sustained by patching the holes in America's hull with duct tape.

Before long $100 will buy a barrel of oil or ONE Euro or ONE loaf of bread!

The

I've been thinking about writing a new novel. What do you think of this synopsis?

A couple of power hungry, war mongers manage to manipulate the electoral system of the United States of America. Together with a bunch of arrogant, incompetent hangers-on, they use fraud and the Supreme Court to gain access to the Executive Branch.

The story would follow the antics of this monstrous group through their destruction of citizen's civil liberties, the corruption of the constitution and the ultimate destruction of a system of checks and balances which has worked for over two centuries.

With the help of a one-party rule in the House and Senate, they manage to take the country into a unilateral invasion of another sovereign nation. While using terror and threats to frighten the people of the nation, the quagmire deepens until the military of the once great nation is depleted and nearing the end of its ability to function.

As the end of their second term looms near, an upstart from the other party rises in popularity. A young, charismatic black Senator suddenly threatens all they have managed to accomplish. This man begins to give hope to the poor, the minorities and the downtrodden who have come to know their place in the country.

Hope is the anesthetic which weakens and eventually kills the germ of hatred, fear and terror they have used to control the citizenry for nearly 8 years. It's like sunlight finding its way into a sewer. Something MUST be done! Hope MUST die!

The “Evil One” who has been pretending to be Vice President while controlling the puppet-dolt who was installed as “President,” concocts a remedy for the increasing hope of the masses. His plan all along was to use a segment of the “Patriot Act” to declare martial law and stop the election so the monsters could hang on to power. But as their popularity has steadily fallen it has become more and more evident that drastic measures would be necessary.

The “Evil One,” (Let's call him Rich) has closed down all avenues of oversight in the faltering Congress. Through never-before-imagined levels of secrecy, Rich has conspired to create a vast network of mercenaries who will do his bidding without question.

The plan is foolproof. The young upstart MUST be assassinated!

Imagine, if you will, the anarchy which would follow such an event. With their hope destroyed, the masses of poor, black and despondent citizens might riot. And that would be the perfect scenario for “Rich” and his cohorts. His mercenary army, (Let's call them Blue Water) could suppress the crowds and bring quiet to the terrified citizenry.

Of course the election of 2008 would have to be “postponed” indefinitely. The “Evil One” and his puppet-dolt could hold power until order was restored.

What do you think of my novel? Would it sell? Is there time to write it before it becomes non-fiction?
