Smooth Sailing?!
In the words of that great philosopher, Gilligan, just before the Minnow hit the big rock:
"Looks like smooth sailing from here on out, Skipper!"
Great news from Al Sadr:

So I guess it's R&R all around for 6 months or so. I'm getting dizzy already from the right-wing spin machines saying this is an indication that the "Surge" is working.
Well, I'm an old guy. I'm a very old guy. But I remember once when I was young...
Another promise from another enemy:
Ho Chi Minh "promised" a cessation of hostilities during a holiday. Let's see.. What was that called? Oh, yeah, TET!
I was there. On my Presidential Unit Commendation Letter for my "exemplary" service during that lull in "my" war, it states that my unit, the Station Hospital in Danang, received an unprecedented 2,147 casualties during the month of February, 1968. I remember carrying bodies and body parts and being covered with blood for most of that month.
Looking back, I'm glad Ho Chi Minh granted us that truce. Hell, if the NVA and Viet Cong hadn't been on "vacation," things might have been really rough.
I'm just saying.... Keep your eyes peeled for a quarterback sneak. Sometimes the guys we fight in these little political squabbles don't always tell the truth.
But if they do give our troops 6 months off, I'm sure "Georgie" will give them something else to do like attacking Iran.
I'm going to lie down again. These dizzy spells are becoming more and more frequent.
I hope I'm wrong about this. I hope our troops do get a little well deserved relief.
