Smooth Sailing?!

In the words of that great philosopher, Gilligan, just before the Minnow hit the big rock:

"Looks like smooth sailing from here on out, Skipper!"

Great news from Al Sadr:

So I guess it's R&R all around for 6 months or so. I'm getting dizzy already from the right-wing spin machines saying this is an indication that the "Surge" is working.

Well, I'm an old guy. I'm a very old guy. But I remember once when I was young...

Another promise from another enemy:

Ho Chi Minh "promised" a cessation of hostilities during a holiday. Let's see.. What was that called? Oh, yeah, TET!

I was there. On my Presidential Unit Commendation Letter for my "exemplary" service during that lull in "my" war, it states that my unit, the Station Hospital in Danang, received an unprecedented 2,147 casualties during the month of February, 1968. I remember carrying bodies and body parts and being covered with blood for most of that month.

Looking back, I'm glad Ho Chi Minh granted us that truce. Hell, if the NVA and Viet Cong hadn't been on "vacation," things might have been really rough.

I'm just saying.... Keep your eyes peeled for a quarterback sneak. Sometimes the guys we fight in these little political squabbles don't always tell the truth.

But if they do give our troops 6 months off, I'm sure "Georgie" will give them something else to do like attacking Iran.

I'm going to lie down again. These dizzy spells are becoming more and more frequent.

I hope I'm wrong about this. I hope our troops do get a little well deserved relief.

Full Moon (A Sonnet)

Last night as I watched the rising, full moon and thought about things and people and how we are all connected by our ability to look at that same moon, the inspiration for this was born:

Full Moon (A Sonnet)

Behold the rising, brilliant orb of gold,

As if floating there on the shim'ring sea.

Reflections bright and comforting unfold

To warm the heart of all who come to see.

That light has hung up in the ev'ning sky

Since man first walked and dreamed of things on high.

Oh, golden moon what secrets do you hold?

What lovers have you watched beneath your glow?

You've witnessed tragic loss as that sea rolled.

You've seen mankind do everything below.

I wonder as I gaze at you tonight

If others elsewhere stare up at your light.

Perhaps we see upon your shining face

The light of hope for all the human race.

Distortion And Exaggeration

I don't know if anyone has had time or reason to watch the recent conversations between the "out of retirement" LT. US Army and me for the past couple of days.

His attacks, exaggerations and distortions of my blogs are pretty striking. I guess the burden of being so consistently wrong is finally becoming more then he can bear.

As this administration's lies, corruption and incompetence continue to be exposed, it will be more and more difficult to defend "them." I guess the Lt.'s attacks on me are his effort to bring to life the old addage: "The best defense is a good offense!"

Sorry, Lt. for your distress as this administration crumbles before your eyes.

Rumsfeld: Gone

Rove: Gone

Gonzales: Gone

Subpoenas, indictments, trials and convictions should be a part of each of these people's future as well as the "Puppet" at the top and his master who resides at the US Naval Observatory.

Unfortunately for "Georgie" and the rest there is NO defense possible for the indefensible!
