Week of July 29, 2007 - August 4, 2007

Sorry New Orleans...

"Georgie" is traveling to Minneapolis today to offer sympathy and support for the victims of the bridge collapse.

Let's compare a few FACTS:

Demographics for Minneapolis:

White: 65.2%

Black: 16.6%

Other: 18.1%

Median household income $37,974

Demographics for New Orleans:

White: 28.05%

Black: 67.25%

Other: 4.7%

Median household income $27,133

In the last days of August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina DEVISTATED an entire community in New Orleans. The 9th Ward today looks much as it did immediately following the catastrophe which was so poorly handled by this administration.

Anyone care to bet how quickly this bridge will be replaced? My money is on: less than one year. Why the quick response? Well, next year the Republican Convention will be held where? New orleans? NO! Minneapolis? YEP!

Now I admit to being a bit of a cynic. But watch the treatment of one community's disaster when compared to another. Look at the demographics. Look at the relevant fact that, even though Minnesota is a blue state, the Repugs are going to have their convention there next year.

Circumstantial? YES! Hard to ignore? YES!

Selling Your Soul Can Be Costly!

I had respect for John McCain until 2000. As a fellow Vietnam Vet and a survivor of his experience in Hanoi, I thought he was a man of courage and conviction. Even though I disagreed with most of his positions, I had respect.

After what the "Bushistas" did to him in the South Carolina Primary you'd think he would have called on some of that inner strength to fight back. But, like John Kerry in 2004, he chose to allow "THEM" to demonize him without fighting back.

Well, it's time to pay the piper...

In the immortal words of Dick "The Monster" Cheney:

McCain's campaign is in the "last throws, if you will."

I'm not going to count McCain out yet. He IS a strong campaigner and in the current political environment, ANYTHING can happen.

But it will take a miracle for him to survive the primaries and I think he will withdraw before South Carolina this time.

I wrote an email to Senator McCain back in 2002 asking him what had happened to his courage. I told him his blind support of the monster who had used the "black baby" campaign against him was unbelievable. I asked where the strength was that allowed him to survive North Vietnamese brutality. I asked him to stand against "Georgie" with those of us who could see the evil in this administration.

The next morning I turned on my computer and ALL my email: inbox, sent, EVERYTHING was gone. I've had people since that time tell me it was a "coincidence" or maybe lightening had damaged my computer. I always respond: Then why was my email account the only thing affected? Why was everything else on the computer functioning perfectly? Nobody has ever given me an acceptable answer. The mail was gone. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before or since but I have to admit an event like that makes you wonder.

In my communication with Senator McCain I warned him that siding with these monsters would come back to haunt him. He would lose whatever support he had in the middle... And I was right. Now, his staff is abandoning the hopeless campaign, few are contributing the much-needed funds to keep the campaign in front of the American people and McCain looks more pathetic every day.

I guess Selling Your Soul Can Be Costly!
