Some Good News And Some Bad News
I try to admit when I'm wrong. I honestly thought the monsters in power would not allow this transition. I expected some "event" which killed a lot of Americans or otherwise "required" their use of the Patriot Act power to call for martial law. So far, that has not happened. And I'm glad I was wrong.
Watching all this happen is living history. I know as certainly as I sit here writing this that George W. Bush will be seen in the history books for what he was: the worst president in American history. His father's inner circle is attempting to come to the rescue but it's too little, too late.
I'm filled with the fear that we can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. Invading a sovereign nation in order to depose their leader has set a horrible precedent that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
Now that the vast majority of Americans have seen these guys for what they are and begun the process of taking back our country, we are still going to have to deal with the tragedy in Iraq.
The problem, as I have stated many times, is there is no good solution. "Staying the course" will cause the deaths of many more brave American troops with absolutely no gain. Sending in more troops, as McCain is calling for, is ridiculous. (The time for more troops was in the beginning when our forces could have overwhelmed and destroyed the will to fight on the other side.) Pulling out leaves a vacuum that will inevitably be filled by Al Queida, Iranian monsters or some other entity that will eventually use all the oil riches of Iraq to attack us again. Iraq will be Afghanistan on steroids!
So, it's like choosing between being shot to death or having a fatal heart attack.... Neither is a good option.
I have hope for the first time in over 6 years that diplomacy may be used again by our country's leadership. I'm not sure they will be able to right the listing ship of state which the Bush administration and the Neo-Con monsters who controlled it have so tragically damaged.
