Republican Tortures Democrat!

I'm visiting my inlaws for a few days and, as luck would have it, I am near where "Lt. US Army" lives. So I decided to meet him and play a round of golf today.

I managed to hold my own until we teed off on the first hole. After that, it was pretty much all downhill. He's a GREAT golfer.

Now I know how those prisoners at Abu Ghraib felt. He relentlessly tortured me. Hole after hole! The guy had no mercy!

Well, I'm back at my inlaw's house now. The crying is over and I'm going to try to regain some of my self esteem.

All kidding aside, he's a great guy and I enjoyed meeting him and discussing politics all afternoon.

I'll be back home Sunday and will resume my relentless attack on the evil Bush Administration. Until then, my daughter only allows me to use her computer for about 5 minutes a day.

Thanks to everyone who reads and comments on my blogs. I appreciate all of you.

The Hole In The Ground

If anyone missed the Keith Olbermann comments last night, please check it out:

Crooks and Liars

The reason there is still a "Hole In The Ground" five years later is: "They" need it there to "Spin" around every year. These mid-term elections will show us whether or not their evil use of this hallowed ground has worked again.

Congratulate Keith for his courage. Email him @ countdown@msnbc.com

Response To THE Question Of The Day

A friend's blog today asked THE question I've been hearing more and more from those who agreed with the administration's lies in the beginning but are starting to see the light which is illuminating the sewer where these guys dwell.

The question: What do we do NOW? We're in Iraq, right or wrong, but do we "Cut and Run?" What is the answer?

Here's my response:

Coach asked what we should do in Iraq. I commented with the following. What does everyone else think?

Unfortunately, Coach, it isn't that simple. Any thinking person knows now that we should NEVER have gone into Iraq. But, as Americans, most of us want to trust our leadership. We don't expect lies and corruption. And we definitely didn't expect such incompetence.

That said, we are there. I hate the term "Cut And Run" because that's not what ANYONE is suggesting. Democracy is a great concept. It's the human ideal. People making choices about how their lives are run. That is the "Ideal."

It should work in our country but it hasn't lately. Corrupt politicians, gerrymandering political districts and outright evil have put us where we are. Because of those things, the upcoming midterms probably won't reflect the REAL American's vision of what "should be."

We have all seen what "Democracy" results in when applied to an Islamic country. Hezbollah wins seats, Muslim extremists are made "President" and everything we, as Americans, think should be... Isn't.

I don't know the answer, Coach. I served in the other Vietnam. I watched in horror as those people clawed at our last departing helicopters after our politicians finally decided to "cut and run."

I watched the news as our guys pushed million dollar helicopters off those carriers into the Sea.

John Kerry testified before Congress back then and made a profound statement. It was the following question: "Who wants to be the last American killed for a mistake?"

The simple answer is: Nobody!

But here we are. Some brave young man or woman WILL be the last American to die for this mistake and error in judgement from a corrupt and arrogant administration which cheated and lied its way to power. Then lied and cheated to hold power.

Our only hope is to postpone the inevitable. At some point, our troops WILL leave Iraq. The day that happens, there WILL be slaughter on a grand scale. Sunnis or Shiites will prevail. Probably Shiites because of the backing of Iran. And that will be the worst thing that could happen to the middle east. And history will show it happened because of the acts of this arrogant and incompetent administration's folly.

As Edith Ann used to say on Saturday Night Live: "And That's The Truth!" PPPPTTTTTSSSSSTTTPPP or however you spell that little sound she made.

It's really no laughing matter. I hate these guys and what they've done. If there ever was a no-win situation, they've put our troops in one. They should all rot in the hottest part of Hell for what they've done.

We NEED A Democrat Who Isn't Afraid

I watch politics closer than most. I've asked time and time again why we don't have a Democrat who will stand up to the arrogance and lies of this administration.

We NEED someone who isn't afraid to question.

We NEED someone who isn't afraid of the religious right.

We NEED someone who will put our country ahead of personal gain.

We NEED someone with CHARACTER.

I watched "The American President" again today. A great little movie. The Michael Douglas character finally stands up to an arrogant liar played by Richard Dreyfuss.

In a bit of dialogue between the Douglas character and the aid played by Michael J. Fox, Fox says the following:

In this country it is not only permissible to question our leaders it’s our responsibility.

Truer words were never spoken.

Fox's character goes on:

People want leadership, Mr. President. And in the absence of genuine leadership, they’ll listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership. They’re so thirsty for it, they’ll crawl through the desert toward a mirage and when they discover there’s no water, they’ll drink the sand.

The Douglas character responds:

People don’t drink the sand because

they’re thirsty. They drink the sand because

they don’t know the difference.

That's what the Bush administration is counting on folks. They think we don't know the difference. Did anyone LISTEN to Dick "The Monster" Cheney on "Meet The Press" this morning? They're still so arrogant, they don't even change their rhetoric when it's been exposed as a pack of lies!

Karl Rove has them convinced that the same old line will work one more time. I hope he's wrong this time.

Let me close with another quote from the movie... A perfect description of "Georgie"..

He is interested in two things… and two things only. Making you afraid of it and telling you who’s to blame for it. That, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how you win elections. You gather a group of middle aged and middle classed, middle income voters who remember with longing an easier time and you talk to them about family, American values and character.

They'll try to use fear again. They'll call following them without question "Patriotism." They'll figure some way to make it sacriligious to disagree with their policies. Don't listen this time, America.

Real American values don't involve the torture of other human beings. True patriotism doesn't involve blindly following arrogant and incompetent liars. Character is what is needed in our next President. I hope the Democratic party can find someone who will stand up to these monsters and allow all Americans to spit out the "sand" of the past 6 years.

We're Not ALL Monsters

The Bush administration is attempting to convince Congress to make some of their immoral and illegal acts "legal." Now there's a great idea! Secet prisons, INTERROGATION techniques that were so horrible as to cause our own soldiers to confront each other over their use.

Do the crimes against humanity first, THEN make them legal. Sound like any other dictators you remember our soldiers fighting and dying to stop in our past? We even have them in the present. Castro would do something like this BECAUSE HE CAN.

That's the kind of man George W. Bush is. That's the kind of man Dick "The Monster" Cheney is. That's the kind of man Donald Rumsfeld is. These three not only knew about the torture of other human beings, they AUTHORIZED it.

So, how does the system work? Well, here it is in a nutshell: "Capture" the "Terrorist" first, then take him to a secret facility where US laws don't exist, a place where inhumane and vile torture tactics are the "norm." Then, if the "Terrorist" lives through this phase, take him to Gitmo. Don't file any charges or adhere to the basics of the Geneva Conventions. Just hold him there without counsel for, oh, let's say... FOREVER!

Now, "Georgie" wants the, in the words of Stan Cartman, "authorita" to try these guys without having to produce any evidence! That's right, he wants to use "evidence" which MUST be kept from the "defendant" because of "National Security." Isn't that convenient?

Here's the deal: EVERYTHING this administration has told us has been a LIE! So why should we believe THIS? Oh, yeah, because Rush and Sean and Laura and..... have stirred up the 36% who live in that haze on the far right (That haze near the edge of sanity. That haze where the "flat" earth drops off into oblivion) to rant and rave about how this is LINKED to 9/11. That argument is getting a little old.

There have always been evil men. But WE have always been against THEM. Now, unfortunately, WE ARE THEM.
